Not the best..

It's functional but it's loud and you can tell it's definitely NOT of the best quality. I didn't know how spoiled I was by the whirlpool one we had before this.
All I can say is you get what you pay for.

Disappointed in design

Installed today, not sure I will keep. Biggest complaint is the button labels cannot be read unless you are about 3 inches from them ! They look readable online, and there was not one on display in a store close by to see in person. Digital clock is bright white and stands out like a sore thumb; should have been muted more and button labels matched with same intensity.

The older model was better quality

Way cheaper version of the exact same model it replaced. Hollow and cheap plastic. Encountered a problem the first week of use with error codes coming up. Unplugged and plugged back in. Seems ok so far. Way too difficult of an install to bring back.

We've had this microwave for 3 years now. Segments of the numbers on the screen have quit working so you really can't read anything on the screen. GE quit selling the overlay that would replace that and makes you buy a whole new control piece that's $170 (when the microwave new is only $200). There's only a 1 year warranty so no help there. Our previous microwave was 30yrs old and all numbers still worked. Really disappointed in this and that GE doesn't have a better solution to replace such a simple piece to fix.

My control panel stopped showing the numbers correctly after 2 years. It works fine but not seeing the timer is aggravating.

Quit after 14 months of use

I'm so disappointed in this microwaved. I've had it for almost 14 months and it just quit working. I was warming up my breakfast and it worked for 5 seconds and then it just lost all power.
Before I purchased this GE microwave I had another over the range GE microwave that lasted over 10 years. I was hoping this one would last just as long.
Save yourself some money and avoid purchasing this microwave. Because based on other 1 star reviews it seems like it tends to break shortly after the 1-year warranty is over.

We bought this September 30, 2017, installed it in October. Today, January 30, 2019, the handle simply broke off completely at both ends in my hand when I tried to open it. It's 4 months past warranty. The previous GE model it replaced had lasted for over 10 years without any such problem. Obviously, like much that is manufactured in China today, quality has suffered greatly. So while the machine itself continues to work and we can open and use it by pulling on the bottom of the door, we're left with an annoying and unsightly kitchen appliance.

This is a poor quality microwave and I am so disgusted with it. I have had it 3 years and the handle is peeling. It is wrapped in cheap jar plastic. The light doesn’t stay lit on one side even if you change the light bulb. This microwaved hasn’t gone through and extra ordinary wear and tear. The cheap hard plastic was peeling on the handle and when I went to open it I cut my finger on the plastic. I paid over $200 for this microwave. I am going to replace it with a LG brand

We box an "excellent condition" open box product. The box arrived with a seal saying Best Buy inspected and approved, but the microwave arrived with heavy damage. The corner was smashed in, a filter was broken, and the door and side had been smashed in so that the door didn't open properly. Never trusting an open box again.

died in <2years

Chintzy vent flap made it hard to install w/o bending into my vent duct. Then it died in a major way after just 2 years light use. Internal fuse blew; I replaced. Worked for a week and fuse blew again; I replaced. Worked for another week and blew out entirely (completely dead now). Nothing obvious so I'm guessing its the magnetron or HV cap or HV rectifier. Major repair, not worth it. Don't buy GE. Last microwave I had lasted 20 years.

I would not buy this again or recommend it as it has stopped working twice. I had unplug it leave it for thirty minutes and then plug it back again and hope it works. I have had it less than a month.

Only model that fits our space, otherwise wouldn't buy. Very noisy. Doesn't cook evenly. Had to switch out bracket... Last one we bought only lasted less that 5 years. Poor quality.

The first time I bought this, it lasted for a couple years and then there was a big flash one day and it was dead. I went ahead and replaced it with the same model. Well guess what - barely one year of use, and another big spark and a flash and it's dead. Fortunately this time it's within the warranty period, but I have to wait 10 days for a service visit so they can tell me that it's (obviously) dead and needs to be replaced. I would strongly recommend NOT buying this GE product, now that I have been a victim of this defective product TWICE.
Doesn't look like picture, difficult and loud door

Looks nothing like the picture. Its VERY high gloss and VERY prone to finger prints. Absolutely no way to avoid it. But that's not the worst part.... the door is the LOUDEST thing I have ever experienced on an appliance. Hard to open and hard to close and forget having a late night snack this thing is going to wake the whole household. I absolutely hate it. Wish I could upload a video.

Cheap door, cheap handle, makes horrible expansion and contraction sounds when you use the range underneath. Lousy support, useless warranty. Skip this junk.

Fuse Constantly Tripping after Less than 2 Years.

I realize this is not an expensive microwave but with all the problems I've seen online, I cannot believe GE doesn't have a fix for this problem. The circuit breaker began tripping overtime the door was opened while the microwave was running and has not progressed to tripping instantly when Start is pushed. Currently all of my products are GE but with all the poor reviews out there for this microwave and no assistance in sight (other than "call a repairman") I will never buy another GE product again.

This microwave quit working after 16 months of use. Still looks brand new, but not worth the repair bill to fix. I have read on several boards that this is an issue with GE models, working one minute and the next they just stop all totether. Also, the fan does not work very well and the light and clock are dim. It does not suck steam from boiling water up into the fan. I am beginning to think all OTR microwaves are junk. I have also had a Samsung and it only lasted 3 years. The motherboard went out in less than a year, but luckily it was covered by the warranty. Gone are the days of appliances actually lasting a decade. On the plus side no issues with warming food when it did work

It broke 14 months after being installed. The system that heats the food burned, and the repair cost was almost the same as buying a new one. So, I decided to buy a new one for another company.
