    Garbage

The microwave screen started flickering after 1 year. Now a couple years in and its completely broken. I can find a 40 year old microwave at a second hand store that still works. But GE wants to screw over Americans by building garbage. Appliance manufacturers should be in prison.

I really like this microwave, it looks nice. I’m not giving it 5 stars just because the fan is very loud, that’s my only complaint. Overall, it cooks and warms food pretty good .

There is a major problem with this model.

Please do you research before you buy this microwave. You will not get 2 years of use out of it before it breaks. Please research this model number and "Door switch" and "blown fuse". The only way to fix the problem is to replace the door, the switch and the door switch mount. The parts cost as much as the microwave and GE will tell you it is not covered under warranty. In fact, you would be wise to avoid all GE microwaves on the market today.

    Disappointing

Bought this microwave in the slate color to match the rest of my appliances. It has only been in use for a year and a half and now will not heat up (I may have used it 3 to 4 times per week and that is being generous). You select a function and it sounds like it normally does except it does not heat up at all. Very disappointed since now I will have to purchase another brand, defeating the purpose of having them match. Definitely won’t be buying another GE product.

We purchased this product as a birthday present for our Mom, replacing a 15 year old GE microwave that was on it's last legs. We installed it, tested it, showed Mom all the bells and whistles, and left. Less than an hour later she calls to tell us it died while heating up a sausage biscuit. Defrost function worked fine but when she pressed the Express Cook 1, it popped and flashed on the inside and died. Taking it back tomorrow for a replacement. Hopefully this was just a one-off quality issue.

    Dangerous and short lived!!!!

Microwave only lasted a couple of years, and while it is sort of working, it is having extremely dangerous malfunctions. The microwave is randomly turning on and microwaving on its own, including while the door is open (which can result in severe eye injuries). I had to unplug this microwave for fear that it will turn on by itself and keep going for hours while I am not home. I would highly recommend looking for other alternatives.

    Short life

Worked for about 3 months but then "popped" and would no longer heat. Had it repaired via warranty. Took 9 months for that process. Worked only 2 months before sparking and making a small flame. Gave up and purchased a whirlpool.

    Door Switch Design Flaw

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had the same experience as others. After about 3.5 years, it started tripping the breaker. I found out there was a bad switch in the door, replaced it, then the fuse blew. So I replaced all 3 door switches and the fuse and it completely died again. This is a major design flaw with the door and the switches. A microwave should last 10+ years in my opinion. 4 Years is unacceptable, a waste of money, resources and disposal space.

After two years, it is tripping the dedicated breaker constantly. At first it tripped after opening the door while cooking. Now it trips as soon as you try to start it. Hardly worth the service call. Same old story. The last one lasted 15 years...

Was fine until year 2 - broken door

We've barely had our microwave mounted for 2 years when the door handle literally broke off as my husband went to open it today. Not just came off at the screws but completely broke. I would expect a GE product to last longer than 2 years, especially for the price and hassle of a wall-installation.

    Ge microwave, not satisfied

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Had this microwave for 3 years now, I never felt it worked right. Had a weird noise to it that came and went on and off. This past week it kept blowing the fuse and losing power we would flip the switch it would work for a second then blow again. We figure there is a short somewhere and it is not worth getting fixed. Won’t buy the same next time. 3 years is just too short lived for us.

Junk made by Haier not GE

When cooking food and you open the door before the cooking cycle is complete, the breaker in the electrical panel trips. Similar to other reviews given. My unit is 2 years old. Don’t blame GE however. They dont make the units nor have an appliance division. They merely have their logo on it as brand recognition. Haier owns GE appliances.

We've only had the microwave 2.5 years until it started flipping the breaker. Tested the microwave on a different circuit and flipped the breaker on that one as well. Time to buy a new one.

Bought this microwave las year around March and it lasted till yesterday. It surpassed the warranty and now I have no microwave. It started to short circuit and trip my breaker at home, after a couple times of trying to fix it, it sparked my circuit and died. No wonder the manufacture only gives a 1 yr warranty, it's meant to last that long. GE sucks.

I wrote a review on 5/15/17 which didn't show up. Warning to handicap customers with shipping and geek install. Live order takers will tell you ship/install/haul away in one visit. ( important of you can't lift 50 lbs into your house). Not true. Also, they will not adjust the shipping to accommodate. Once you order and then find out, there is no way to cancel order. you have to HOPE no one takes your microwave from front door before the geeks come next day.

Piece of junk. Bought it in Jan 2020 and it stopped heating in May 2023. GE wanted to charge me almost the cost of a new one to repair. I've got a small table top microwave with an old mechanical timer that's lasted 5 times longer.
