Washes small batches of clothes but don't you dare try blankets. Also, if tou buy from best buy but DONT get the 'warranty' they transfer you to GE for the warranty help and they dont do anything. Our delivery guys hooked everything up completely wrong and left. On top of that theres a 90% possibility our washer has a defect to begin with. When a batch is being washed, regardless of the size, the drum rotates so hard that it has dented the outside of the machine.

Hello Momof6 - We are sorry to hear your washer is not living up to its name. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Water may not cover the top level of the clothes. This is normal for this high efficiency washer. The agitator will spin during the agitation period but will not turn if the lid is up. We hope this helps. Keep in touch! - John@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

This washer has an agitator. My two previous washers were HE models that did not have an agitator. Both machines died rather quickly after the factory warranty expired. Apparently the vibrating action of those wash tubs led to untimely deaths so we decided to go with an old fashioned washer with the big agitator paddle. This washer is also listed as being an HE washer. So we ended up trading some capacity for durability and while we haven't had this for long it has preformed well, Cleans very well, the cycles are shorter than with the no-paddle designs and the washing options are fantastic. You can control water temp, level and even rinsing options that will meet most people's needs. And the spin cycle is much more efficient than the no-paddle designs. The two no-paddle machines that we had never could clean well nor exact as much rinse water as they should have. Maybe other people out there with the no-agitator model will disagree but after having two of those designs it became expensively clear to us that the old paddle-style washers are still the best. Don't let the size rating fool you. It will hold rather large loads but still use caution: Overloading an washer will reduce it's lifetime no matter the brand. And if you are considering switching from a no-agitator model to back to the old-fashioned models also remember to read the instructions anyway because it is important that you not only NOT overload your machine you should also lay the laundry around the agitator in even layers instead of just dumping your laundry in as you did with the no-paddle washers. This will cut down on the machine stopping during a wash cycle due to a very unbalanced load. All in all very happy with this GE washer. It is about $70-$80 more than the cheapest GE they had but it is well worth the 10% or so extra cost above the more basic model. The price difference is about the same cost as the new water connectors you should get whenever you get a new washer. Disclosure: I did buy an extended warranty for this washer which did jack up the total purchase price. Hopefully I will not have to use it but anyone who has had their washer die on them knows that the only thing worse than a dead washer is a dead water heater so for that reason alone I recommend the extended warranty for each of those appliances.

We have only had the washer 2 months, but so far it seems to perform well. It does clean our clothes better than our old (20+) washer was toward the end. I like the larger capacity (4.5 v. 3.0). It is not any quieter, but definitely a different sound to get used too. I don’t find it any more or less intrusive as our laundry room is just off the kitchen. Easy to operate and I use the 15 minute soak most times. I think that alone may help to clean items better. I also like that it doesn’t twist clothes around the agitator. The washer is as basic and simple as I could find and so far we are pleased with it. Although, I doubt it will have the longevity of the old KitchenAid washer. We’ll see. FYI, I always keep my washer lid UP when not in use and so don’t have issues with mold/mildew.

After our whirlpool broke, we were looking for a large washer with an agitator for a low price. And we found it! We see a difference with the agitator when washing our clothes, they seem cleaner and lighter. The washer is super easy to use and doesn’t overwhelm you with features, while still having great options such as a soak feature. The best pet of this washer is how quickly it washes! It gets the cycle done super quickly and does a great job during the spin cycle. Other people complain about the noise of the washer, but it has not bothered me and my family (we live in a smaller house with thin walls). Overall love this washer!

    My clothes are finally clean!!!

This is the best washing machine ever. For the last seven years I had an LG fancy pants wave force washing machine that gave me absolutely nothing but trouble from the second I brought it home. Within the first week the magnets broke and they had to be fixed and ever since then the washing machine just wouldn’t balance or complete a load of laundry. Sometimes I would actually have to reach in and wring my clothes out to get it to spin without an error code. There were times it took 6 to 8 hours to do one load of laundry!!! Those times are over! I wanted a simple large capacity washer machine that I could wash my king size comforter in and also pillows, dog beds, rugs etc. I had been burned on the top loading non-agitator type washing machine. I really wanted an older fashion washing machine without bells and whistles. This is the only washer large enough to handle my needs in my opinion so I decided to give it a try. As for the reviews that say the machine is loud..it is definitely louder than my LG. I don’t mind because it is actually getting my clothes clean. It needs to have a larger motor to handle the larger capacity loads. My laundry room is connected to my living room it shares a wall where I watch TV. The noise does not bother me at all. The first couple weeks that I had the machine I probably did 25 loads of laundry. I was so excited that my clothes were getting clean I was re-washing laundry that was not cleaned from my previous LG. It even gets the dog smell out of the dog beds completely! And I can use powdered detergent without powdery residue on my clothing. One of the things that used to bother me about my previous washing machine is the amount of water that the machine would use to clean the clothes. It was never enough water even if I used the extra water setting it just was not enough water to get the clothes clean. Some of the reviews for this machine say that the extra water settings don’t work, that is completely untrue you just have to read the manual and adjust them accordingly. Every setting that I’ve tried (all of them) works perfectly. If you are looking for something simple and large and gets your clothes clean this is the washing machine for you. Love it love it love it!

I read a lot of reviews and wanted a washer that had an agitator with not a lot of electronics to malfunction. My first washer laster 23 years, second 15. Simple and reliable. Here are a few ideas to trouble shoot. -do not use sensor, if you want old school. -select presoak for any load with stains -utilize deep fill for old school water levels as well as set your desired level. -fill water and add soap. Then pause and add clothes. No soap stains because soap sits on clothes while machine thinks (sensor water level) or fills. It's different BUT not horrible. -READ the directions. They trouble shoot for lint (issue with using HE functions in all washers) -do not be afraid to experiment with the different settings. This does make a difference when you sort your laundry and utilize these settings. -YES it's noisy at times, so were both of my other washers. I got use to them... It's just a different cycle of noise. -YES... It takes time to move forward and get use to newer machines. I am thankful that I didn't jump on the front load bandwagon. -I bought the 3 year warranty. I had such good luck with Maytags but they didn't have a product like this. So I took a leap of faith. I am cynical that products are not built to last anymore and that companies want you to replace versus fix for increase profit only. Only time will tell with this last point. Hope this helps. When I read all the countless reviews I was thankful people took the time to write their responses. Not all were emotionally intelligent, nonetheless still helpful in recognizing pros and cons of each machine. If you are like me, you will find this product worth taking the risk.

Most government overrides available except SQ

First of all, let me thank Best Buy for allowing me to exchange the first washer I purchased which had a 65 minute cycle, at the shortest. I wanted to like this GE washer, but the government decided that I needed Artificial Intelligence to figure out how to wash my clothes after 45 years. While it has the most overrides available short of an $1100 Speed Queen, which I couldn't justify, it still has many government-imposed shortcomings. I can choose my water temperature and level, but there are only 4 of those if I opt out of having my clothes spray-washed. It has 14 cycles, but I use only one: Speed Wash, to limit wash time to about 45 minutes once it is finally finished and allows me to open the lid (90 second wait) because I'm too stupid and might break my arm on an agitator. The cycle names don't match expectations for fabric weights, strength, etc. Bed sheets come out twisted like braided hair on every cycle I tried, so I tried "delicate;" same thing, except now they dripped water when I picked them up. They look like crepe paper even though they are permanent a press fabric. My husband's button-up cotton shirts absolutely require ironing to get rid of the wrinkles caused by the spin cycles. I thoroughly read the owner's manual, and initially referred often to the charts describing the features of each cycle, but they just don't make sense. Trial and error brought me back to Speed Wash and maximum fill for just about all my washing. Even so, I sometimes add another 3 gallons to my maximum level to ensure clean clothes and not damaging my washer. I had a repairman tell me once not to scrimp on my water level unless I enjoyed paying him for a service call. Plus, we live in Houston where getting rid of water is a good thing; you might have heard that in the national news more than once. It wobbles quite a bit and is noisy on spin cycle which concerns me a little. I'm glad it's not near a bedroom. I long for the days when the government stayed out of my appliances.

I like the spacious interior of the washer. It can wash a regular queen-sized comforter without issue. It has a good run-time to. Although, I don't recommend washing pillows in this, as it caused the machine to move when I tried washing two pillows (one on each side). It is pretty straight forward to operate. I can keep the lid open while it fills, which I like because I can throw the pods in and watch as they combine with the water and so I can make sure that the water sufficiently covers the clothing. One thing to watch out for though, is a feature that automatically drains the water if you don't start it. For example: If you start filling the tub, but forget to put clothing in, it will auto-drain after a while, wasting water. Another thing I like is that the fabric softener goes in the agitator, which means I can say "bye" to the Downy balls. Overall, it is a pretty simple machine. No bells or whistles, but so far it seems to do what I need it to! Frankly, with COVID-19, I was looking for something to replace my broken washer, that fit my budget and my needs. This fit the bill.
