Customers are delighted by the 4.5 cu ft Top Load Washer's cleaning performance, large capacity, and ease of use, frequently praising its spacious tub and the inclusion of an agitator. However, a significant number of customers reported that the washer is quite loud and that the spin cycle could be improved. Some also mentioned issues with the washer's balance and occasional reliability problems. A few users expressed concerns about the lid lock feature.

I specifically chose a machine that I could adjust the water level myself. It still does not fill to my satisfaction. At their precise fill, there isn't enough water to wet the smallest load. Even when I choose the low setting, there isn't enough water to wet the clothes, so I have to use the medium setting. Even at the highest water level, the water is still at least 6 inches below the top of the drum. When I select the water level, I can open the lid to add something I forgot. I purposely bought a washer with an agitator, but my clothes are as wrinkled coming out as if I had one with an impeller. I like the several wash water temperature choices. Since almost all washers today are nothing I like, this is probably the only one closest to what I really wanted.

Decent washer - I like the agitator in the middle vs my previous machine which just had an open bucket. Has enough cycles - works great. Is a little loud but price was right. When repairman said our previous washer(about 11 yrs old) wasn't fixable he said not pay more than $600 for a new one because they weren't worth it - not built to last as long as they used to be. My mom bought the same one 2 weeks after I did when her washer also bit the dust.

Replaced a 28 year old washer.
Runs much quieter, clothes seem much cleaner.
Has the options I was looking for.
Manual/Precise fill, soak, and many wash settings.
Will have to see how long it lasts.

After reading some of the other reviews on this washer, I was a bit hesitant to buy due to the number of them stating this washer was loud. But after doing our research we really wanted an 'old school' washer with an agitator and a GE brand to match our Kenmore that lasted nearly 20 years so we came back to this one and debated, finally saying that it's what we wanted so we'd live with the noise.
It's been fine. The normal wash setting isn't as loud as others and it's doing just fine. I am really happy with the space it provides and the price was right where we needed it to be. Here's hoping it gives me another 20 years.
You'll be happy! Just try to ignore the setting that sounds like it's getting ready to take off. :)

Needed a washer that was reasonably priced so took a chance on this one, hoping it would be reliable. A year later and it’s working great with absolutely no problems. Would have been 5 stars except it’s a bit noisy. Good value for the price.

Pros :
The washer tub is Huge. You can really fill this beauty. Just be careful on balancing. It can get off balance easier due to excessive weight.
The dials are very easy to set. They also provide you with every possible options you would need.
Happy with the Top Load, ease of use and price.
Con:
I find the Pause/Start button a little confusing. Sometimes I need to push / pause several times before the machine starts to fill.

Basic washer. Our old washer was like 20 years old and broke and we replaced it with this. Huge capacity. Easy to use. No low-water nonsense (we conserve otherwise, relax), and it has an agitator.

The machine does a great job cleaning clothes. Noisier than my last, but not really an issue due to location of washer. Tip: do not let installer leave without running it at least a few minutes. Our installer turned on a pre-wash and left. I went to put in a load an hour later and floor was covered with water. Thankfully had a floor drain. Apparently washer had hole in it. Best Buy’s customer service was horrible to deal with. 3 hours total spent on phone calls, claim they can’t do anything for weeks to replace it. My days of buying appliances from them are over!

It has an agitator! Washer cleans clothes the first wash. It can be loaded more and still clean everything better than our previous unit that didn't have an agitator. Simple unit without all the digital stuff to worry about in the long run.

So far so good with this washing machine. Our previous one lasted 20 years so I was disappointed that all I could only buy was a High efficiency washer. I heard horror stories about not getting clothes fully clean. This one is a little loud, but we keep the settings on high and all clothes have been washed. You can’t sneak extras in because the lid locks. I did buy the 3 year extra warranty just in case. Plenty of room to clean uniforms, towels, and large loads.

This replaces an old Maytag that finally gave out. So far, there are 4 in our family using this. It holds comforters, large loads of jeans, etc. Washes clothes great. Only problem (not with Best Buy but manufacturer) is the drain hose wasn't long enough to reach the drain pipe so we had to go buy a longer one at Home Depot. Also, the clip to hold the drain pipe sheered right off after a couple of loads, the drain hose fell to the floor and I came down to a sprinkler because the hose came out of the drain pipe!! We had to make something stronger to hold the drain hose. Best Buy delivery guys took it to the back door (due to COVID-19, couldn't install).

I was looking for a very basic machine with limited electronics when I purchased this one because of it's price. Very reasonable. I do use the various cycles which I thought I would not. Huge capacity, which is really nice. Has a Deep Clean cycle and a deep fill button. I live in a rural area with well water and do not have to conserve water so I appreciate it's deep fill feature. I would purchase this machine again. The only fault I find it is sometimes hard for me to start but that's probably all operator error, not machine!

Only had this GE washer about 2 months and all seems good. Like the large top loading capacity and cleaning.
I do miss some of the bell & whistles of my old Maytag like electronic display and quietness (this washer is a bit loud during wash). 4 stars for now, but need more time for a more accurate review.

I really like this washer. I had a front load washer for 18 years and after washing in the top loader, I feel my clothes are coming out a lot cleaner. Maybe it is the agitator that does it? Most washers are all push button now and I really like that this washer has dials. The only push button is the start button. I like all the options for extra rinses and spin cycles. And putting the fabric softener in the middle agitator is great. No spilling or mess like in the pull out door on the front loader. Easy set up. Very satisfied after one month of use.

As seniors, we are very pleased with the simplicity of this washer. We had another one with lots of electronic bells and whistles and repeatedly had to have a technician come out and reprogram it. Finally, we went to Best Buy and the salesperson actually talked with us and suggested a a couple and when we saw the dials instead of LED screens, we bought it! It has an agitator and many different setting options for temperature, volume, speed, etc. We are sooo pleased and so thankful for a salesperson who helped us choose this machine.

Nice washer. Many choices for fabric, water level, temp, extra spin, extra rinse, or both, spin is very fast. Easy to pause and adjust load. Large tub and good wash cycle. Extra deep water level. Runs fairly quiet. Does make some sound. End of cycle tones could be louder can't hear from basement location. Not adjustable.

Very loud! Jumps around when you use a full load when spinning! If you live on the upper floors, it will loosen up all the joints and tiles. May be good for a basement. Lid locks up during cycle. It does not have a timer to show how long the cycle will take time left. Even after charging for moving my old washer, Best Buy's guys left in the middle of the basement, then i had to move it myself to the side!

Hi there - We are so sorry that your washer is loud and moving around so much during the spin cycle. This sounds discouraging and we understand your dissatisfaction. When a washer shakes or vibrates, this indicates that the leveling legs needs to be adjusted. To level the washer, simply adjust the leveling legs by rotating the individual leg in the proper direction for up or down until they are all firmly and evenly on the floor. Additionally, we encourage you to review some sounds and their possible causes detailed on page 26 of the owner's manual: https://files.bbystatic.com/CPyEVasqZ%2BZzAzKphDnN5g%3D%3D/F286593F-2DB5-4DBA-A0F1-4D5BFEFA5780.pdf. There are several noises you may hear caused by uneven leveling legs. We hope this is helpful. Connect with us if you have any questions or concerns in the future - we're always glad to help out. Be well, Kelsey@GEA
