A couple of years after purchasing, of course the oven igniter failed. Looked it up on line and they are only expected to last 2 years or so...this for a $450+ purchase. Bought the part to fix it myself and needed to remove the oven door to get at the igniter inside the oven. GE has the absolute worst system for removing/ replacing the oven door on this model. In the past you just needed to open the door slightly and pull up on the door to slide it off the hinge. Well as typical of most products now a days this one is over-engineered. GE decided we need to replace the former easy access to remove the oven door system with some cock-a-mammy locking hinge system which is near impossible to manage. It is the stupidest design imaginable. It was easier to replace the "way too soon to fail" igniter which involved getting under the oven!! I guess this is why GE has been hounding me to purchase an extended warranty on this oven...because they can count on it to fail. Shouldn't have to pay extra for service on an appliance that I paid over $500 for which failed 2 years into owning it. Done with GE products...There are many more issues with this oven, many already reported in other reviews...this product is junk. would have given it zero stars if I could...

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a similar range to this product. It is a health hazard and we will not be purchasing another GE. Beware if other GE products have the same design flaw. The igniter is located at the furthest knob point, which allows gas to flow unnoticed. Other ranges we have looked at have the igniter at the very top so a clicking is heard as soon as it's turned. The knobs being so easy to turn we have unknowingly had gas emitting into our home. GE is aware of this dangerous situation and has done absolutely NOTHING.
