Works as it should with very easy set up. The phone ap allows for total control while in bluetooth range. Only downside is there is not WIFI access. You do need to be in bluetooth range to control the switch.

This really does work well and you don't need a router or WiFi. If you buy more switches and dimmers they communicate with each other to create a network. That allows you to control devices from anywhere in the house. The only requirement is that it needs Location Service to be on. This is why, as the other reviewer states, it reconnects each time you access the app. If you have moved since the last time you opened the app, it doesn't waste time trying to connect to the last device you were connected to. Instead it verifies the closest device and connects to it. You then have access to all the other switches in the house. The problem with connecting is that it expressly states not to pair to the switch using your normal Bluetooth settings. The app only needs to see the switch to connect. It actually never pairs to the switch which you can see in the Bluetooth settings, it will always show as an available device but never connected. That's just how it works but pairing to it through your Bluetooth settings is probably why other people have trouble connecting. I connect with no problem. In fairness I did not buy my switch from Best Buy but I will be buying more from them now that I know they are definitely worth the price and work as stated. You should see the picture on the box that shows how they suggest a network of these devices can automate your home. There's even an outdoor timer/switch.

I bought this from Lowes last (2015) Christmas as a way to have a digital timer of sorts for Christmas lights. It never has worked consistently (turns lights on and off at set times). So it mainly served as a remote toggle, until it just quit working altogether (would not connect to several phones). The 'AVI-On' app is pretty bad, but the tech support is reasonably responsive. This has been a very disappointing and frustrating product, and will probably keep me away from smartphone-controlled home appliances for a while.
