Customers value the fun gameplay and engaging story mode in Gears of War: Judgment. However, some feel the campaign is too short and the initial map selection is limited, impacting the overall value. The addition of new weapons is appreciated by some, while others find the price point too high for the amount of content provided. Concerns were also raised regarding the lack of content, particularly online.

This is an interesting addition to the gears series that has both its strengths and weaknesses. They do add a few weapons and enemies which is to be expected but there is nothing to get really excited about. They also add in extra challenges into campaign missions to add a little change of pace, but overall the story really isn't anything to compare to the games before it. It is still fun to play and more gears is always welcome, but the game kind of leaves the feeling that you were expecting more from it. The only real disappointment about the game is the multiplier. There are only like four maps in the base game without buying the overpriced season pass which gets old real fast. Overall I did enjoy the game for the $20 I paid for it, but I don't really see it being worth much more than that which is a shame for a series as good as gears.

This game acts as a prequel to the original Gears of War and does a good job of explaining certain untold circumstances of the original game. This outings story is told through an arcade mission style type presentation, and off putting as it first seems, it doesn't hurt the game at all. Certain mission add variable to each fight that adds replay value.

Gears of War: Judgement follows the back-story of Lt. Barid and "the Cole-train" before the first Gears of War game. The story is good, but I would've like them going a little farther back with it to where they first met and on day one of E-day. The new characters are interesting, but they really don't bring anything new to the table. The graphics are just as great as any other gears game and the game play is as well. Multiplayer is better than ever, but with a lack of maps, modes, and characters really dags it down. The Locust are only playable on one mode, which is a sad disappointment.

Overall a good sequel to the other Gears of War games but don't expect any new breakthroughs in the series. Gameplay and graphics seem to be the same as previous versions but that is a good thing.

It's a lot faster than previous gears of war games but I still find the multiplayer to be very fun. It shipped with only a few maps and removed horde mode. I really enjoy the new overrun game type though. You're also only allowed a single rifle/shotgun with the pistol rather than being able to have one of each. Everyone can start with frags if they wish and they can be thrown much easier. It's fast, manic, online fun and I really like playing with friends on live.

Bottom line. It's Gears. But if you're reading this, you're probably new to the series -- since any fans bought it before any review was even out. So is this worth your $60?
Well, I'd recommend Gears 3, since you can get it used and the fan base still seems pretty big.
Single-player here is more of the same with some different ways to ramp of the challenge. You'll get some pretty good bang for your buck. Still, if you're out for JUST a single-player Gears experience and are new to the franchise, go get the original for a few bucks.
The online in Judgment? Be warned, new players. This isn't COD. It isn't Halo. You can't just jump in and dominate. Mutliplayer takes some learning. A lot. So many good players. Gears plays differently from any other shooter. I consider myself an average gamer and am experienced with Gears games but this one plays even tougher than the already difficult others. In the end though, it's a fun experience I don't get from Halo or COD. Much more of an adrenaline rush, especially in Execution mode, when you're the last man standing on your squad.
For experienced Gears players:
- I don't like the fact their are no more grenade plants.
- Up close gun play seems more jerky, but I'm probably getting old.
- Not many maps included with the disc and it seems like people pretty much only vote for the same three.
Anyway, that's it. Solid game. New players should just go buy 3 (or 2 or 1 if they want single player). But I don't think you'd be disappointed either way ... unless you just HATE the gameplay. This is no run and gun.

as a gears veteran, i was only loosely interested in this game mainly due to it being a prequel. but the allure of more gears won out, and i'm relatively pleased. the gameplay is still fun, but the campaign plays quite a bit differently. some nice multiplayer additions at the expense of some favorites from prior iterations.

I'm pretty fond of the Gears of War series, but this one is probably my least favorite. The graphics look good, but the controls are different in this game from previous installments. It takes a little getting used to, but it's not that bad once you get the hang of it. As far as I can tell, because of the new control scheme, you cannot carry as many weapons as you could in previous installments as well. My biggest issue with the game, though, not a huge deal if you can get past it, is the scoring system. At the end of each section within each chapter of the story you are rated on your performance from 0 to 3 stars based on a variety of deferent factors. I suppose the rating system was implemented in this installment of the game to enrich the experience by allowing players to compare scores online and earn bragging rights and whatnot, but I find that it has the opposite effect. Because the rating system is in place, I feel the need to earn a perfect 3 star rating, but sometimes it is difficult to achieve this on your first try and repeated attempts significantly slow the progression of the story, thus ruining the player experience. Overall though, I think that the game is solid and is good for any Gears of War fan or anyone who likes third person shooters.

This is a prequel to the gears of war series. There is great graphics and the story mode is awesome! The gameplay is pretty easy and operates just like the other Gears Of War games. The one thing I would change about it is the story mode. Although it was fun to play it was too short and it does leave you wanting more.

This is Gears of War like always ,less Marcus, but still has characters fans all know with a great back story to add to this great series. I like that they added some new weapons which is one thing this series did lack a little . I also like how they changed the gameplay a little by adding a few parts where a few waves of Locusts come after you like horde mode. I didn't have to pay full retail but it still would've been worth it just for the co-op campaign. I didn't play much online yet but I liked what I did see ...

Good addition to the Gears franchise. Better than Gears 1 or 2, but not quite as entertaining overall as Gears 3. Excellent graphics and sound, great gameplay and storyline, and high level of difficulty. Solid recommend on this one.

Hey, it's Gears..so if you like Gears, you're off to a good start. I only play this game with my friend, but it makes the storymode more fun that way and we have a good time playing as a team. The game introduces a new system where each level has a challenge that you can choose to activate and if you do, it makes it harder, but rewards you with more XP.
The game is fun for the most part, but the levels feel like mini levels and not full levels. They go by quick and once the story is over it's really just a feeling of "ok, check that off the list." I have yet to dive into online, but it's probably enjoyable like the others.
