    i havent had any problems so far but then again i havent had it so long. at least i havent had a reason to think of them negatively

    Geek Squad wreaked havoc on my laptop

    I left my PC laptop with the Geek Squad when it started crashing unexpectedly (the computer is two years old). After two days I picked up my laptop and it was actually in much worse shape. Although the agent from whom I received my machine ensured me that they "eliminated viruses" and installed the included anti-virus software, the computer quickly went from crashing every few days to crashing almost every thirty minutes (very frustrating, as this is my work computer). Throughout the process I attempted to contact customer service, and the representatives were incredibly curt and rude to me. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

    I don't understand the wait time , esp. in the store. There were 5 people in line an nobody was available behind the desk to assist any of us. I bet we waited maybe 10 - 15 minutes before someone came to help us. They need to get the help on the same page to make sure there is always someone at the counter to assist customers and avoid angry ones. Weed out the dead beats that don't want to be a " TEAM " player.

    This product was purchased 3/17/13 but not installed until 5/6/13 due to travel. Therefore, it should not expire until May 2014

    my son had a computer problem while away at college, we went to best buy, where we originally bought the computer. as an engineering freshman he cannot afford a lot of computer downtime. we thought going to the local geek squad was going to expedite his repair. they sat on the problem for 3 days before they started work. they charged him (ultimately me) an extra $90 for virus software when he already had Norton installed. then when they said the computer was ready, he went back to the store and had to wait 3 hours. did I say he was in engineering school with out a lot of spare time? poor service, poor timing, poor policies. I have told all my IT friends, all my neighbors, friends co-workers what a poor experience I had, glad to have this posted.

    We contacted tech support to help us with setting up our mac and new time capsule. the first tech we got was reading information out of the manual which we had done those steps prior to calling. The next person we contacted a day later told us we would have to pay $50.00 for someone to comeout to the house to help us. So we called the store and they sent out two geek squad guy's and they did not do anything, they said they were not familar with the Mac or time capsule. They said they would have someone call us that does know! and guess what. No one called. So we still do not have our mac and time capsule set up correctly. It seems like everytime we buy something from Best Buy we never get what we are promised when we make our purchase. We will NEVER buy your tech support again. In fact I am still thinking about going back to the store and getting my money back for your tech support we purchased.

    I paid a lot of money for my computer to be wiped out. I asked four seperate times, will you be able to keep my information, I was told every single time, yes we will be able to move your files over. Guess what? Everything was wiped out clean. I have no access to my files. Since I got the computer home, I have been getting nothing but messages about drivers that are not installed. I will never use your services again. Overpriced and your people have no idea what they are doing. I know this because they failed to clear the browser history and I saw your techs go onto tech message boards for help. Are you kidding me? Never again.

    I am tired of Tech Support never being able to answer my specific questions (I am not technology illiterate, and they appear to only be able to answer basic questions) and referring me to the website, blogs, etc. I paid good money for a service that is not helpful.

    I took my system to geek squad to fix operating system problem. When dropped off told them that under no circumstances should they erase my data, even if they couldn't fix it. They claimed they fixed it and when I took home had the same exact problem. When I took back to get fixed they quickly erased my hard drive rather than trouble shoot. They erased all of my wedding pictures, and all my children's videos and pictures from their childhood. When I complained the store manager said he would call me back which he never did. They never took responsibility for their mistake and it cost me. The was the treatment I got as an elite plus customer which means I've spent thousands I with them. All that meant nothing!

    Why did I use Best Buy Technical Support? Because I was knee deep in year end...it was the weekend...and I was in a sheer panic when my computer crashed. But when I say I will never use them again... I have asked friends if they even see me in the parking lot...to tie my feet together... NEVER AGAIN. It was a customer service/Geek Squad nightmare and then after all the problems THEIR tech team caused (and they admitted they caused) I was NOT offered a refund...I had to ASK for some type of remedy for all what they had done and the weeks I had to wait for the data to be recovered Needless to say...data recovery was about 20% successful and it has been additional weeks trying to recover files from one of their technicians errors. ( By the way...Backing up data is only good IF you are running the same year/type programs on your backup computer)

    Had absolutely no help on the Geek Squad call in service; couldn't help me set up a simple internet connection. Brought it to the store, oh it works fine here said a rep, he thought I didn't have the outside an tennia on and I did at home...dahhh. I'm not going to repack it with it on and damage the antenna They then went to put it on the CPU and said it will only take a minute or two to screw it into the back of the CPU and test it. After waiting 10- 15 minutes for them to come out and tell me it was fine, which it aprrently was not, I left the store in disgust. The manufacturer of the CPU was outstanding and walked me through everything the Geek Squad should have been doing. This is my third disappointment in use them over the past few years. What good is the price value if they aren't fixing the problem on a brand new out of the box CPU.
