I had to call the Geek Squad just after purchase, they were able to help me within minutes to resolve my issues. This make's my feeling about my purchase more at ease, knowing that I can just make a call to resolve an issue that I felt was a major problem to be an easy fix. I highly recommend to others they should have Geek Squad handle your support for computors or any other product..

Counter service good; Once you get their attention

Once you pay a couple of hundred bucks for a years service you get inundated with sales pitches for more goods and services. These folks don't seem to realize that there are a few of us that DO have some knowledge and are only there to meet specific ends; and do not wish to hear their pitches. Now, having said that they seem to be knowledgable and compentant. I have requested service twice and the first was input on Friday and was complete om Tuesday with a Sunday holiday. The second was input on Thursday and complete on Tuesday. Overall I feel the service is good if a bit overpriced. I would prefer a instance by instance fee.

A must have for any computer purchase. The agents are very friendly and knowledgable. They take their time to explain things and make sure you understand what is going on. They also give great tips and tricks to do at home.

They're very helpful, professional, friendly and very smart! In the store, spent a lot of time fixing a problem and gave me help choosing a new desktop. Via phone, very professional, enthusiastic and had issue resolved quickly. I feel more secure about my computers now that I purchased Geek Squad support. No comparison with Staples tech support. I now go to Best Buy exclusively.

i really like geeksquad. I have always bought the geeksquad plans to all my electronics and i've never had a problem with them. They're friendly and nice and are always willing to help. They have this new chat feature that allows for you to chat with them online to help you solve your issues and that's one thing that i truly like. You avoid being on hold and all that stuff.

Too expensive, not available in my range

I love the 24/7 online help at no cost, have used it and it was helpful to a certain extent, although my issue didn't get resolved completely and was asked to bring product back to store, too far away for that so just live with the issue. Don't like that because we live "out of their range" we are expected to pay such a lot of money for them to come out, I figure it I pay over a thousand dollars for something, it should be available to me at a much cheaper cost. That was very disappointing.

Read Before Taking Your Computer to Geek Squad!

My laptop crashed at work and a warning popped up saying that there was a hard drive error. I was leaving town for the week the next morning, so instead of doing my research, I just took my computer to the Geek Squad at the Best Buy in Santa Clarita, CA.
The tech guys looked at my computer and spent several minutes assuring me that my hard drive was actually fine - I actually had a sneaky virus that disguises itself as a hard drive crash - and that they have seen this virus several times. Anxious to get my computer working again, I allowed them to charge me $200 for a virus repair service - before they had done any work.
The next morning, they called me and told me that I did not have a virus and that the hard drive did in fact need to be replaced. Then, refusing to do any more work or address the $200 I already paid them, charged me another $85 to replace the hard drive, plus another $30 to back up two folders. I was already out of town and really didn't have another good option.
They called me again the next day, and said they needed another $55 to back up the folders which they had already agreed to back up for $30. Apparently they charge $85 to spend five minutes backing up and transferring a couple of files.
When I picked up my computer the following week and asked for a refund for the $200 virus removal that I had paid for but never actually needed, they refused to refund anything, instead arguing that the cost to "diagnose" the computer was $80 (i.e. read the screen which said HARD DRIVE ERROR and then convince me that it was something different#, reinstalling Windows 7 on the new hard drive was another $80 service #i.e. stick a disk in the computer and click “install”), and then listed a few meaningless other services that I neither needed nor requested which allegedly totaled well over the $200 I had initially given them. They then informed me, with a straight face, that this was a good deal.
All said and done, I paid a total of $370 for them to "diagnose" my problem, replace the hard drive, save and transfer two folders of information, and reinstall Windows 7, a process I would have happily done myself if I had had the opportunity or was informed as to what they were charging for really simple services. This entire process should have cost $85 for the hard drive, and MAYBE half an hour of labor, which I'll generously value at $100. Inexcusable.
I've been a loyal patron of Best Buy ever since I was a kid and had an allowance to spend on music and games. I'm sad to say that neither myself, my family, or anyone else who I can convince will spend another dollar at a Best Buy store.

One of the major reasons why I'm a Best Buy customer is because It provides tech support. If you're like most of us, we're not engineers or IT professionals so you want a retailer who backs up your purchase with qualified tech support professionals. All of my contacts with the Geek Squad have been very customer-friendly with staff who are patient and good listeners.

Only had to use it once for issues with touchpad. Agent helped identify that the touchpad can easily zoom in the screen accidently if two fingers are placed on it.

Quick response for solving problems encountered. The pricing for the tech support package is slightly pricy could be made more affordable for others to purchase.

It's a little pricy for adding to price of a new computer but once you make the plunge it's nice to know your not alone and they are there to make sure it works

I like the comfort of know there is someone around 24/7 that I can chat with if I have a problem. I am no computer whiz but these guys seem to know what they're doing the majority of the time. I mean you got some that are not as good as others but it's like that with pretty much everything.

Geek Squad, Complete Fail

Geek Squad is the WORST customer service ever! I had two phones that were covered on their plan. I called to take one of them off, gave them very specific instructions on which one I wanted to drop and instead they took both off. I broke my phone and went to best buy to get it replaced and they told me I needed to call geek squad. I spent over an hour on hold while -get this- geek squad's computers were down. That's right, the tech support company can't even maintain their own computers. In the end they weren't able to access my account. I had to call back the next day (wasted trip) and they informed me that both phone's plans were cancelled when I called to cancel the one. I told them I only cancelled one and they threatened to pull out the recording which I welcomed! I think they went away and listened to it because I was on hold for well over 20 min. They came back and told me they could reinstate it on the one that should have had the protection. They sent it to the "back office" and two weeks later they came back and told me that they wouldn't reinstate it telling me that I called and cancelled it, (as though their mistake wasn't the initial problem). All told it was over a month of run around and frustration and I still didn't get my phone fixed. Don't use their phone protection!

We did have to call a couple of times. The agent was very helpful and nice. He couldn't help me with my problem because the monitor was black, but I'm sure if he could of he would of. It was also late at night when we called. On a different occasion, the agent walked me right through fixing the problem and took over the computer from his end and set us right up.

I purchased this to find out that most everything I need done I have to take it back to the store. This is ino really user friendly. I also have called the 800 # and most of the tech support personel do not tolerate someone like me who is not savvy with computers. Finding #s and answering the ? they ask is difficult when you are not a computer guru.
I would NOT have purchased this If I knew i was going to have to hall this across town everytime something needs done.
I also fell I was misinformed about alot of the purchases. I was told Windows 8 would be free and now I have to pay for it. I paid 100.00 for the hard drive to be transferred but nothing I need is there. Ie microsoft word, etc.

I bought this without hesitation because of everything it covers. Utilized the walk out working feature to get a better understanding of my new computer. I not only walked with a working computer, I had a great understand of not only my new system, I gained a good grasp on how the new Windows 8 system operated. Thank you so much Best Buy and Geek Squad!
