It's nice to know that someone is there when you can't figure out a problem. Also, having someone know how-to when you don't know is a real plus! Thanks, guys!

The girl we had was super. Installed webroot for us and got rid of stuff we didn't need. Also took my 10 year old desktop and clean up and got rid of any virus

Great to be purchased with a new purchase especially if you have another computer they cover up to 4! They assess and fix any problems with speed and accuracy.

    Unsatisfactory Greek Squad tech support

Purchased service in Nov 2012 to do software diagnostics on computers.. All of my computers have virus protection, but were having some issues with computers not working quite right. Took first computer in, it was given back to us experiencing the same problems. Dropped it off again( by the way they lost our vga adapter and claimed we did not bring it in with the computer, so had to buy a new one). Ultimately, was told it was likely a motherboard problem, but could not do anything more without sending it out for hardware dagnostics for another $80. We took computer #2 in because it was slow. Tech support told us it was likely a motherboard problem. We could have it further diagnosed for $80. Just this week we took in computer #3 in for diagnostics, we were told it likely had a motherboard issue (starting to sound familiar..). How can all 3 computers have a motherboard issue. This did not seem quite right. I spoke to a supervisor at the desk about the service not resulting in what they advertised and that I was very unsatisfied. I asked for some kind of compensation for their unsatisfactory performance, and they would not do anything. Felt like I just went in circles when trying reason with the supervisor. Money would be refunded if I paid for each time I had my computers serviced at $70 each. Not an appealing compensation. They were not very customer focused. They did not perform as advertised and their default answer is "likley a motherboard issue". This was a total waste of $200, I got nothing from this service. DO NOT BUY THE GREEK SQUAD TECH SUPPORT!! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!

Not qualified to fix Apple hardware

I had a hard drive failure in my 27" Macintosh desktop. Technician helped me pick out a replacement hard drive. The expectation was that Geek Squad would replace my hard drive, update the OS to the version I had before and try to recover anything they could from my existing hard drive. First issue - I had an appointment to drop my computer off. Took 30 minutes because they were behind and it took another hour to set up the paperwork. Second issue - The technician sold me the wrong hard drive. I don't believe this was his fault. He was not properly trained. Turns out Macintosh requires hard drives with a temperature sensor built in. If you don't have one, like the one they sold me, the cooling fan in the computer runs non-stop at 6,000 RPM because it thinks the drive is over heating. It results in a computer that sounds like a jet taking off. I ended up purchasing a software utility for $35 that reads the hard drive temp and the fan is quite now. My other option would be to take it back to Best Buy and tell them to replace it with the proper drive, but honestly I don't trust them to do this again and I don't have the time. Third issue - They didn't bring my OS up to the version I had. They only loaded the original. Fourth issue - I asked if they were able to recover any data off my old drive. They didn't try. The technician connected my drive to a Window's machine and said they couldn't recover anything. I told him it wouldn't work on a Window's machine that it needed to be a Mac. He connected my drive externally to a Mac and what do you know....I was able to see my data. Instead of educating the technician on what to do, I purchased an external drive reader and will pull the data off myself. Again, the technician was very nice and wanted to help but he wasn't properly trained. The wait times are extremely long and others were upset at the wait times. This seems to be a reflection of where Best Buy is headed as a company.

My computer seemed to be infected with a virus so I took it to the Geek Squad and they said it should only take about 10-15 minutes for an free diagnosis. After coming back twice after roaming the store for 45 minutes, they told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I was told I had to purchase one of the tech support memberships and the cheapest was for 1 year at $199. I was told it would be a couple of days before it would be ready and that they would let me know when it was ready. I called a week later and was told they could not fix it and would have to buy an external hardrive to save what I had on the computer. They said they would discount the price to $150 for a 500 megabyte hard drive. Then they would do a full recovery of my hard drive on the computer. I decided to just get the computer back. After two weeks letting the computer sit. I opened it to find it working perfectly. I also notice they had plenty of 500 gigabyte external hard drives in their store for $79.
