Poor service

I have been plagued with WiFi connection issues and called Geek Squad to repair the problem. The only appointments available were midday appointments, which meant I had to take leave from work. I requested either the earliest possible or latest possible appointment, so that I could maximize my workday. I was assured I'd get the first appointment of the morning (first scheduled stop of the 0800-1200 block), but no one showed up until 1115.
The gentleman who showed up was friendly enough, but was there to install a television set; he knew nothing about WiFi networks. To his credit, he called other Geek Squad buddies of his to see if they could help, but ultimately, he was out of his league.
For this failure on the part of Geek Squad, I lost 6 hours of work that day and now need to wait for another Geek Squad tech to come out...which ensures that I'll have to take another 6 hours off from work. This has been really inconvenient for me...and my network still isn't fixed.

The guy came and diagnosed our problem, however the solution to the problem did not solve it permenantly. We continue to have wireless issues and problems getting on the internet.

Worst Service Center

First they can't make an appointment in a timely manner. You have to wait 3 to 4 weeks after the product arrived from Best Buy. I waiting from 12/30/09 to the appointment scheduld for February 1, 2010. They 8 - 12 appointment made was spent waiting those 4 hours with no one showing up or callling me. I had to call them and they told me, a tech would be there in half an hour.... I just cancelled them, because I couldn't do the afternoon. The next available they would give me as to waiti another 2 weeks.

This was my first experience with Best Buy's Geek Squad service, and usually having someone at your home to repair or install an item is a bit of a drag, however not the case with Geek Squad. The agent was polite, friendly, helpful and didn't mind answering whatever questions. Based on this experience with Geek Squad I would happily recommend this service to anyone looking for this sort of service in the future.

The service representative scheduled my appointment for Saturday. They only schedule in four hour blocks (8-12 or 12-4) so I waited until 3:30 and called to find out if the the technician was still expected to show up. Of course the technician is not coming today as the service rep gave the wrong date for the appointment. If the technician shows up next week I'll post a review of the work done at that time.
Recommendation: Call a few days before the scheduled appointment to make sure all is as expected.

The online agent had put in my order wrong and it took 3 days and several phone calls to get Geek squad out, but love it now. The router they sent was not compatable with Windows 7, but they worked it out.

We bought the service call bundled with purchase of wireless router at a store. To our surprise, they scheduled it the next day or so and this was during Christmas holidays. The tech dealt with our old overwhelmed very slow PC desktop plus the speedy new Apple without complaint. If I hadn't gotten the discounted package deal, I might have been irritated at the price because it is really pretty easy to set up, but it was great to not have to deal with it at all.

Wireless network install

Agent came a little late but communicated early that it could occur because of problems at prior appointment. Once on site, he quickly understood what needed to be done - he was the fourth different service provider to look at my home internet - and offered aleternative solutions. We quickly agreed on which path to pursue, and he installed my new modem, an extra switch to heat up all rooms in my house with a wired system, and got the modem to tie into new electronic cabinet. For the first time in 6 years my internet works without interruption!!!! Thank you Geek Squad!

This was my second time hiring the Geek Squad to install computer equipment. As usual, the Geek Squad gentleman
was a professional and did a great job installing this product. He was also very helpful in answering my questions. Since I've had two great experiences with the Geek Squad, I would recommend them and will also be calling them again when needed.
This wireless router is excellent and we get wireless service throughout our house. We've had no problems with it and it works so much better than our previous wireless router. It turned out to be a very good purchase.

too hard to cancel service

On-line I ordered a wireless network installation through Geek Squad. After ordering and paying for the service, I decided to cancel the service call. I had to call multiple times and am in fact on hold right now again with the Geek Squad. Everyone I've talked to has been very nice, but it is frustrating that it takes so long to get this matter addressed and to get the charge removed from my account.
This is a very simple matter and since I ordered it online, It would have been nice to have the option of cancelling it online rather then to have to make multiple calls to customer service.

Even though it was expensive, I am glad I went ahead and had an agent come to the house and set up my network. I had tried to set it up on my own but encountererd a problem that had stumpped me. He was able to set it up for me in under an hour and even improved what I would have been able to accomplish on my own!

SLOW response Holiday backup?

I thought the service would be "slow" because of holiday back up. Booked on line and snail mail confirmation said we'll call you within the week. After two weeks, I called and agent said - No, you have to call... 2-4 week wait for home service visit WiFi set up. I hope when Geek's finally arrive . .. next available time is a Saturday night???? It all works out...... only time will tell but at best ... a VERY SLOW process.

The geek squad is an asset to best buy! They know their stuff, and love to help out. Wireless network set up is not as easy job so I had them come out and do it for me, and I was very satisified. They set it up flawlessly and really made my life a lot easier.

this service is a bit pricy, but it is going to be absolutely the best thing for your wireless network. I thought i knew what i was doing but my parents still had to call out geek squad, and then they made it work so much better

Geek Squad scheduling/contact is poor

Two major purchases this year, both times scheduliing Geek Squad was a nightmare. This past time I gave up and am still trying to get a refund. I can't even get a response on that!
I never got a phone call from Geek Squad and they do not answer the phone when I have called them. To date I am "out in the cold". No service... no refund. It has been one month now.
