Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Giant Monster
Length: 91 minutes / 125 minutes
"Mechagodzilla, the superior-armed, state-of-the-art, all-robot version of Godzilla, is undergoing repairs after his devastating battle against the world's monsters. As the great robot near's completion, a series of mysterious incidents rocks the world and awakens Godzilla, who unleashes a reign of terror against Tokyo. Mothra joins him and Japan's desperate prime minister has no choice but to launch the unfinished Mechagodzilla against Mothra and Godzilla. But who will fight for whom? And in the end - will the survivor be monster, robot, or man?"
"Earth has been relatively peaceful since Godzilla was successfully buried deep in the ice beneath the South Pole. Then several of his old nemeses return to wreak havoc on cities worldwide. A huge spaceship suddenly appears and neutralizes all the monsters in a blink. The visitors are "Xiliens" and announce that they would like to negotiate a peace treaty that would replace the United Nations with a "United Universe." It doesn't take long before their nefarious real purpose is exposed -- conquering Earth. Greatly outmatched, Earth officlals decide to de-freeze Godzilla as man's only hope to vanish the invaders."
It would have been great here if both movies in this 2-pack were dealing with Mechagodzilla. Instead we have the follow-up to one and then the off-the-wall end to the Godzilla movies which is basically a battle royale. An odd pairing to the say the least. Like with the others, Destroyah and Space Godzilla should have been packaged together as well :/
Tokyo S.O.S. is a bit misinformed for the description as Godzilla and Mothra never team up to attack Tokyo. Mothra does indeed threaten to go to war with mankind if they don't discard Mechagodzilla since it uses the bones of the original Godzilla in its construction, but that never comes to happen. Instead, Mothra and its larvae come to the aid of man to fend off Godzilla.
Final Wars is hard to describe... probably because it's just not that good! I'll watch anything that has Godzilla in it, but this one turned the Godzilla universe upside down. The G-man now knows kung-fu, mutants are on the planet, and 15 monters make their appearance in this one! Godzilla also takes a backseat in this movie until the end as most of it focuses on the humans and mutants rather than on the monsters.
Both movies are decent but neither are awesome. The English voice-overs take a huge turn for the worse in both of these titles; especially Final Wars. I had to watch both with subtitles. Don Frye only speaks in English in Final Wars which I loved! Even if they're not the greatest movies out there, both should be a part of every Godzilla fan's collection.

Classic Japanese Godzilla movies the way they are supposed to be. Good for a lazy Saturday afternoon and the price is perfect for what you get.

I enjoyed these movies in this single cartridge pack. They are digitally remastered and in English or Japanese with some fun extras. Good purchase.

Fantastic price, but Final Wars is the main attraction as it brings the fun and insanity of the Godzilla world to full view.
