I installed these and have been using for about a month. I havent had to charge them yet so batteries last a good amount of time of normal use. Mount low and dont expect for it to start recording or detect motion if its further then 50 feet away

While I've been a longtime Nest user and have always been satisfied with the product line, this is a dud. Not integrating with the Nest App feels like a big miss (the Google Home UI is poor), the resolution quality is incredibly grainy and pixelated relative to the competition and the connectivity is always very touchy (while all other nest devices on the same network are bulletproof). On top of that is a price point that's nearly 3X the competition, while delivering a sub-par product. Not sure where Google lost their way here, this one is a disapointment.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We´re sorry to hear of your disappointment with the Google Home app, poor resolution and connectivity issue with your Nest Cam (Battery).

Our goal is to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Here are some recommended steps below that you can try out to see if it might be helpful with the connectivity issue:
      - Check your Wi-Fi network for possible congestion. Relieving some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
      - Check the distance between Nest Cam (Battery) and your router. Ensure that it's within a line of sight from your router.
      - Check for wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or appliances and devices nearby.

We believe that Pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera. Nest Cam (Battery) has HDR video quality that’s optimized to save battery, while giving you a clear view in bright sun or dark. For any other concerns you may have about Nest Cam (Battery), you´re always welcome to contact our support team using this link:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I'm so disappointed to see Google phasing out the nest app. I bought this new battery camera, it works great don’t get me wrong. But the google home app is nothing compared to the Nest app. If you have an older nest cam you have to go back and forth between the apps to view the camera history. The google home app tracks my location all the time so it’s hard on my phone battery, and my phone will be warm when I pick it up. The Nest app is so fast and snappy. So much more user friendly. I’m returning this new “Nest cam” and changing brands.

Hi there, Techy30sguy. Thank you for your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery). While we're glad to hear that you find it great, we apologize if the battery life fell short of your expectations.

The new generation of Nest cameras, including Nest Cam (Battery), is exclusively integrated into the Google Home app. Our aim was to create a centralized platform where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices using the Google Assistant. By using the Home app, you can enjoy several benefits, including automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification, and Security Checkup. Additionally, your Google Nest devices and services seamlessly work together, allowing you to say commands like "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera" to effortlessly cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup. The Google Home app also offers the convenience of signing in with a single account for both the Nest and Google Home apps. Your homes and home members will be synchronized across both platforms. Furthermore, if you're willing to try, you can also set up your older Nest cameras on the Google Home app. For more information, you can refer to this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9293657

The battery life of Nest Cam (Battery) depends on various factors, including activity, temperature, and camera settings. To extend the battery life, users can adjust video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and utilize activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for the battery life:
      - Busy: Approximately 1.5 months of battery life (around 20-25 recorded events per day)
      - Typical: Approximately 3 months of battery life (around 9-12 recorded events per day)
      - Quiet: Approximately 7 months of battery life (around 2-4 recorded events per day)

It's important to evaluate the frequency of events (per day) you encounter with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn't related to the event frequency, our support team can assist you further by taking a closer look at your device and identifying any underlying causes. Was waiting for a while to have a nest camera that is battery supported. Although don't like the fact that it won't give the 24hr recording feature unless it's plugged in. Overall the camera is great it does what it needs to do in my opinion.

At the time of this review I have see lots of work to be done in the Google Home app where these new cameras need to be viewed. Many features such as video time scanning and clips creations are missing. No complaints of the cameras build quality or video feed. Think the shortcomings of the Google Home software can easily be remedied as long as Google is willing to fix the software. For those users that currently have Nest cameras and want to add to their arsenal of security cameras I'm sorry to say that these are not compatible with the Nest App and MUST be viewed within the Google Home app (lacking software features currently found in Nest app).

Hi Jose, thanks for giving us your honest feedback about the Nest Cam (battery), and we’re sorry to hear that the Google Home app lacks some software features found in the Nest app.

Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

We're always here to help you improve your experience. If you have any issue with your Nest camera and with using it effectively in the Google Home app, please feel free to find us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I was already aware of camera only being part of google home, not nest app. Which is fine since I use both. My only complaint is battery life, doesn’t last long on balanced setting. I already purchased cable, so it’s hard wired now.

The camera is has good picture quality, is clear at night as well. No connection issues whatsoever so far, works as it should. Only Cons are, battery life doesnt last more than a month is you have it placed in a high foot traffic area. And mine did not come with the safety wire to attach the camera to the base. Other than that i recommend google home products to everyone. If they could lower the price on these cameras they would be more popular.

Hi CDemay, thanks for leaving feedback about the Nest Cam (battery), and we’re sorry to hear your package came with missing secure loop, and that the battery life is below your expectations.

Nest has long been focused on delivering quality products to our customers. We’re also focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription.

Meanwhile, the battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

If you still have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

For issues about your order, like if your device came damaged or with missing pieces, we encourage you to contact your retailer to return or replace your device. And if you ran into any concerns around the functionality and performance of the camera, you’re more than welcome to contact us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest
