Good camera the only drawback is the camera should’ve come with a wider angle lens. I switched from HomeKit now in the process of fully covering.
Hi there Jack, thanks for reaching out to our support page. We're glad that you found the quality and smooth streaming amazing for Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry for any disappointment you may be having with the move to the Google Home app.
We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays.
If you´re willing to try, you may set up your older Nest cameras on the Google Home app as well. For more information, check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9293657

Added this camera to my Google Home Nest Ringdoor bell. Great view and easy to put up. I did not use the lock that is additional if you need it since the top camera is magnetic and can be taken off easily. Ours is up very high so it can't be taken down without a very tall ladder. If not at a high point, be sure to add the locking device, it's not that expensive. Battery seems to last well, so far it's been a month and it's showing it has 6 months of battery left. We will be charging it as needed.

The app is glitchy sometimes. I thought maybe it was due to the camera being set up on battery so I went through the trouble of wiring it hoping it would improve but the troubles connecting are still there. Camera quality for streaming/saved videos is trash. I suspect google is trying to save on bandwidth on their servers so they purposely degrade the camera quality. I have a camera with Simplisafe that is also 1080p and camera quality is significantly better. I would return if I didn’t already have so much invested.
Hi Eddy, thanks for letting us know about the glitchy issue and poor video quality with your Nest Cam (Battery). We apologize for any inconvenience these issues may have caused you.
Both the poor video quality and glitchy issues you are experiencing may be caused by connectivity issues in your network. You may try out some suggested troubleshooting steps you can try out: - Check your Nest camera's distance from the router or access point. - Restart your Nest Cam (Battery). Locate the reset button on the back of the camera. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white. - Restart your router. - Check for interference. Almost every network is subject to wireless interference which can cause problems when connecting your camera to the Google Home app. Check for any wireless interference that may be caused by thick walls and floors, competing Wi-Fi networks, from other electronics in your home. - Check for possible congestion. Removing some of your devices that's connected to your network may help relieve some bandwidth space.

Very disappointed in this product. I already have 2 wired Nest cameras that work great. We bought this one to address a blind spot around our house. It doesn’t alert if I walk through the zone quickly and since Google bought Nest it isn’t compatible With the Nest app which is far superior to Google Home. I would return it if I were still in the window to do so. Don’t waste your time and money on this.
Hi BLDis, we appreciate you for sharing your feedback about your experience with using the Nest Cam (Battery), and we’re sorry to hear that it’s a disappointment for you.
Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
If you haven’t yet, we suggest adjusting the wake-up sensitivity of your camera to decide when to wake up and start recording. But please note that adjusting the wake-up sensitivity will also affect the range at which your camera can sense activity, and the amount of time it takes for the camera to wake up once it senses activity. Here’s how: - Open the Home app. - On the home screen, select your camera. - Tap Settings > Video > Wake-up sensitivity. - Choose your preferred setting.
