Battery life is decent. I added solar chargers to mine and havant had to charge them yet (approximately 6 months ago). The only downfall to them is the price, but they are worth it.

I will tell why this product is a failure. 1. It will not integrate with Next app. Meaning if you have an old Nest IQ cam and you normally use the Nest app for just about anything from camera to thermostat then this camera is not for you. It will not let you add this to the nest app. You will have to use the google home app and view the camera from there. What a waste. 2. Only 1 wire for 2 camera kit. Stupid!!!! 3. Charging wire faces frontward and not backward. Another Failure 4. Keeps on staying idle mode . 5. Won't integrate to the nest aware option - another failure 6. Erratic wifi Connection even if my router is just 10 ft away. In a nutshell, just wait for the next camera or just look on ebay for the old Nestcam IQ ones both indoors and outdoors.

The new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
The new Nest cameras support Nest aware subscription and you’ll get 30 days of event video history. With Nest Aware Plus, you’ll get 60 days and 10 days of 24/7 video history if you choose to connect your Nest Cam (battery) to a power cable (sold separately). Also, Nest camera issues can be related to several factors. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. This may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for your Nest Cam (Battery):
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
We recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. Meanwhile, you might want to check for the weatherproof cables (5 m or 10 m) so you can avoid charging the battery more often by connecting your camera to a power outlet. Although the included power adapter can also keep the battery charged, we suggest using the weatherproof cable since the included power adapter is not intended for outdoor use. They work flawlessly for my needs, and the battery life is incredible. The feed quality is high and the AI works extremely well at detecting people. Mounting is a breeze, and the Google Home app has gotten much better.

Excellent video resolution , nice design, battery last longer than other ones, but what I really liked was the audio communication, that's allows you to speak through the camera.

Battery lasts about 20-30 days, based on camera on/recording times. Solar panels were not available to purchase from BB or anywhere. I was able to order from factory, but they expect the solar panels to be released at end of April.

The product managers at Google should fire themselves. Nest used to be the most advanced camera with great usability both hardware and software… now under Google they can’t even get the basics right. The Google Home app is a giant waste of time and is a downgrade from the regular Nest app. People who think these cameras are great likely never owned the original nest cameras before Google took over. Really sad to see what was once such a great brand die a slow and painful death. At least just abandon the whole “Nest” thing altogether to remove all hope that it will get better so we can get on with replacing our Nest devices with something else.
