Nest Cams

Over time the charging cable has issues connecting well to the small contacts so you have to clean them each time you pull the camera down.

Posted .Hey there, JFred. We’re glad you’re enjoying the Nest Cam (Battery). That being said, we hear your concern with having to clean the connector. Over time, your outdoor camera may collect dust, pollen, water spots, and other debris. Here’s how to clean it properly:
1. Unplug your camera from the power outlet.
2. Moisten a soft cloth with water and a little dish soap.
3. Hold your camera steady and gently wipe its surface clean with a cloth. Keep soap off the lens.
4. Rinse the cloth and wipe down the surfaces again to remove any remaining soap.
5. Plug your camera back in.

The most irritating thing is that this camera can only be accessed with the Google Home app, which was NOT mentioned when I was buying this, and which is NOT as good an app as the Nest app that previously could be used. Google should not be able to call it a "Nest" product when it can't be used with that app. I would rather have the older camera due to that.

We understand that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. And while the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Great Camera

So happy I did. It connects to WiFi via 2.4 ghz AND 5 ghz networks (Ring does not) so I was able to set it up on my 5 ghz network and have less issue with congestion. This is installed on a fairly busy stret and relatively high up and the audio on this (both speaking and listening) through the cam is pretty good. The assistant interface for the history play ack is not as well set up as Ring but, the overall experience is a good one.

You will have to purchase the google nest plan to keep videos for 6 months instead of them deleting after 24 hours. But even without it you should be able to download needed videos. Overall they are a good purchase.

I like the battery powered ones better so i don't need to try to drill holes through my home to get to an outlet. Battery lasts quite a long time, but it is dependent on how much activity the camera senses. Video quality is great both day and night and you can easily change the view angle with the strong magnet. This integrates easily if you already have other google home products.

I’m using it with the Starling hub to integrate with Apple HomeKit. I don’t take off the plug so I have constant power. Will get Nest aware subscription to have 24/7 monitoring. Got it at a discount. Would recommend.

ONLY 1 Charger & Cable

How is this a 2 pack with only 1 plug? If I would have purchased them seperately, they each would have had a plug. Am I supposed to climb a ladder everytime the battery gets low and swap the plugs? I would not reccomend this bundle. I would purchase the cameras seperately so you have all parts. On the other hand, I do love the cameras and they are excellent quality.
