Heats up real fast, processing is slow and camera quality is very average

First of all, finger print unlock does not work. You set this up and next day it does not work. I gave up. Premium phone and you have to use pin - incredible! Next thing, Pixel 7 is heating like crazy! I have no single game, while using basic apps, maps it can heat up quickly. I guess that because of this heating, battery is below 20% very quickly. Google says that high CPU usage/ heating is because your Pixel is "learning" aka AI works in background. After almost 3 months ? Google you should sell your mobile phone business, you don't know how to do it. Sorry.

The Pixel 7 Pro (and 7) is Google’s latest generation of the Pixel lineup. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro offer Google’s 2nd generation in house processor, Tensor G2, with Titan M2 security coprocessor for enhanced protection. Tensor G2 has been enhanced vs the original chipset to offer better performance in every area but specifically in software optimization and machine learning. The design is also evolution rather than revolution. I have had hands on time with both the Pixel 7 Pro and the regular Pixel 7 so I will try to mention both but this review will focus mostly on the P7P (Pixel 7 Pro). Design: The design for the P7 has been revised vs the last generation. The camera bar is still proudly displayed across the back but instead of being glass, this time it is finished in aluminum. The two tone colors are gone (RIP) but the colors offered are still premium looking. The P7 gets matte aluminum vs the P7P polished/shiny aluminum. I prefer the matte finish on the regular P7. The buttons on the right of the P7P are moved downwards for easier reach (awesome!) and the curved front glass on the P7P is less curved. I prefer flat glass phones but the curve isn’t too intrusive but something to get used to. Both phones get Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™ glass front and back unlike the last generation where only the P6P had to front and back. The P6 only had it on the front where the back was a different glass. Screen: Both phones get brighter screens this year for better outdoor performance. The P7’s screen is .1” smaller than P6 but this is not easily noticeable just by looking at the device. The Pixel 7 features a 6.3-inch 60-90Hz AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution stretching 1080 x 2400 pixels. This comes with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 416ppi pixel density, and an 84.9% screen-to-body ratio. The Pixel 7 Pro features a 6.7-inch adaptive 10-120Hz LTPO AMOLED panel with QHD+ resolution stretching 1440 x 3120 pixels. This comes with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 512ppi pixel density, and an 88.7% screen-to-body ratio. Both phones come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus (front and back), support HDR10+ content and always-on display. The biggest difference is the curved display on the P7P and higher resolution/refresh rate. The higher resolution is a nice bonus for me as I have been using the Pixel 6 for a year. Like I have mentioned with the design, I would prefer a flat screen. The P7P features a screen that supports up to 120hz refresh rate vs the 90hz found on the P6/P7. I have not noticed a huge difference here the quicker refresh rate should make scrolling more fluid. I have to say I have experienced bugs that seem to cause minor shudders in the scrolling that others online have experience too. I hope this gets resolved because it doesn’t seem to be at its full potential at all times. The optical fingerprint sensor returns with the addition of face unlock via the upgraded front camera. As with the P6, I still get failed finger print attempts on occasion which bugs me but it’s a relatively minor gripe. The software seems improved to do this less often but it’s likely due to the nature of the sensor itself being optical vs ultrasonic. Android 13: The Pixel 7 series launch with Android 13 which is the latest version of Android. The P7 gets, at minimum, 3 years of software updates and 5 years of security updates. As far as I know this is the longest period of support for Android phones. This is why many owners enjoy using their Pixel’s for 3+ years. I have family who just upgraded from their P2 and P3 for the P7 due to great trade in offers. As long as the hardware holds up over time, it is nice to know Google will be there is support the phone for many years to come. UI changes are incrementally as with most versions of Android. If you would like a full tutorial of Android 13, I would recommend searching online otherwise it’s bloatware free, nearly stock Android. One minor gripe I have that I have experienced on the P6 with Android 13 as well is that the Always on Display time will freeze at random and not update to the correct time until the phone is unlocked. If you leave the phone on a table and don’t come back for a longer period, it may still be showing a time in the past. Battery Life: I have had outstanding battery life compared to my last device. The P7P features a 4926 mAh battery which is about the same as the P6P. The P7 battery is about 5.5% smaller than the P6. The software optimization seems better on the P7’s than the P6’s before. I have easily been able to make it through a normal day with plenty of battery to spare. I have gotten between 3-4 hours of screen on time within my battery usage and I have no doubts many more is possible depending on the type of usage. I never seem to get what other press user get for battery life but conditions vary between users. I would say this phone can easily make it through a full, long day without issue. Speakers: The speakers are a little worse than the P6 from my experience. They lack a little bass that the P6 had. Still very loud and usable but the sound is not quite as good. Cameras: The main camera on the P7’s is a carryover from the P6 (I think). This is a 50MP (f/1.85) sensor that does Pixel binning to create a final 12.5MP image. The Ultra Wide is also a carryover at 12MP (f/2.2) with a FOV of 114 degrees. The Pro model gets a third, telephoto camera that is upgraded vs the previous P6P. This camera is a 48MP (f/3.5) with a 20.6 degree FOV and 5x optical zoom. Google’s nifty camera tools such as Magic Eraser, Night Sight, and Super Res Zoom. One of the new features is Photo Unblur which will take a slightly blurry photo and use AI to unblur it. This works very well in most scenarios where there is a slight shake in the camera. I have been very happy with image quality of all camera on the P7. The ultra wide is the least clear of the three cameras and it’s still a little better than last year. Google software optimization is really what makes the photo shine. The P7 still features video shooting abilities of up to 4K at 60FPS. The main camera and telephoto feature Laser Autofocus and Optical (and Electronic) Image Stabilization. 10-bit HDR video has been added for better colors throughout. The front camera on both phones has been upgraded to a 10.8MP (f/2.2) sensor with 92.8 degree FOV. This camera supports face unlock with digital imagine processing as there is no infrared sensors on the front. This means it may get tricked or not be as accurate as others with infrared sensors. This camera also supports video up to 4K at 60FPS. Performance: The P7 and P7P feature Tensor G2 which is an updated version of Tensor. This is paired with 8GB of ram on the P7 and 12GB on the P7P. Google has improved just about every aspect of the chipset, albeit fairly mildly. Coming from the P6, I have not noticed any major improvements but Google claims the upgrades allow for “more advanced machine learning… offering a 60% faster, and 20% more efficient performance”. This excels in the area of speech recognition and any AI actions. The software optimization is really where Google can get the maximum performance behind the hardware. This is an advantage as well as a detriment because bugs can (and likely will) get introduced which hinder the performance of the phones. My hope is that Google does a better job of software updates vs the P6 series. Verdict: The Pixel 7 Pro has been amazing to use and feels like a true upgrade vs the Pixel 6. The enhanced performance leaves a little headroom for upgrades, the software seems less buggy, and the design is refined for better aesthetics. Google addressed most areas where the P6 fell a little short and added new features to keep the phone relevant. The absolute best part? The price is unchanged from the P6 series! This easily makes the P7 one of the best values in the market. The P7P on the other hand is a little harder to justify but I believe still offers a solid deal if you need the third camera, larger screen, or just want the best specs out of the Pixel series.

This phone is aight. Do I feel like it's any different than the pixel 6, not really. I don't know if I just don't use any of the new features. It runs fine, was able to easily transfer my old setup up to the new phone. The phone call chip is still gone, but at least so far on this phone the bubble stays hidden after you tell it to instead of coming back on every call.

I thought the Pixel would be good but it kept freezing on me

The phone is great but the battery life is astonishingly very low I'm talking about Max use and it's only on alive for like 6 hours and it's fairly a new phone i don't know if it was a dud of a phone I got or what so just because the battery life I have to give it a low score other than that the phone is great
