I've always loved the Pixel line. I've owned the 2,4,7,8 and now the 9. Battery is definitely the shortcoming of this phone. But the fast(ish) charging helps. Fingerprint scanner is amazing. Faster than apple touch ID. Way better than the Pixel 7 and 8. Camera is great. And the size and feel of the phone is very nice with and without a cass

    Great software, poor hardware

The Pixel 9 is a solid phone compared to past iterations. I’ve used a Pixel 4a and 5a in the past, and the Tensor chip is an improvement from those devices with their midrange chips. The screen looks good, and the software customization options of the Pixel’s version of Android are very impressive (coming from someone who mostly uses iOS/iPadOS devices. However, the hardware is always the issue with Pixels. I didn’t keep my Pixel 4a or 5a for very long because of hardware issues, and the story was the same on this Pixel 9. First, the chip: Google’s Tensor chips are underpowered compared to current Apple and Qualcomm chips. Some apps are noticeably slower to open. I don’t know if this is a Tensor issue or an Android problem (Again, I’m used to iPhones). Battery life is pretty good, but again it’s held back by Tensor. This phone has a huge battery, but battery life is held back by Tensor’s inefficiencies. Performance isn’t terrible, it’s actually pretty good, but some apps are a bit slow or become frozen and have to be quit. Google keeps going up on the price of Pixels, which now match the latest iPhones and Galaxy phones, but the chip still isn’t there. Second, the fingerprint scanner: it works well… without a screen protector. Depending on the brand of screen protector you choose, it will either work pretty well, not well, or not at all. Google obviously can’t control the design of everyone else’s screen protectors, but I (along with others) had to order a bunch of different brands of screen protectors to find one that works. The capacitive fingerprint sensor from the older Pixels worked great, but they had to remove those so they could have a glass back on the phone. Last, the adaptive brightness: it is absolutely atrocious. Search Google for “Pixel adaptive brightness” and you’ll see page after page of people complaining about the Pixel line’s auto brightness going back several years. It’s been a problem for years. It’s a big reason I ditched my 4a and 5a, and pretty much the sole reason I returned this Pixel 9. It changes the screen brightness in such a jarring way rather than gradually. For some reason it turns the brightness way down in a brightly lit room for no reason, then after a few seconds it turns it back up. And it continually does this. Help articles and forums all say to adjust it and the phone will learn your preferences. It never does though. Of all the iPhones and the couple of other Android phones I’ve ever used, Pixels are the only ones that can’t figure out screen brightness. I don’t know if it’s the ambient light sensors or the Pixel’s software, but it’s insane and inexcusable that Google can’t figure it out. The software of the phone is great. I like Google’s software, but the hardware is a letdown.

Pixel 9 is the perfect AI phone. Since AI is going to improve significantly int he future, this is the best entry level AI phone that you can get right now. If you have a couple of hundred dollars extra splurge for the Pro, else this is the way to go.

    Getting use to smaller screen.

I usually buy the bigger screen phones but the prices are getting out of hand. So I went back to the regular size phone this time. It takes a bit to get use to the screen size as I didn't realize how much smaller the screen was? I'm pretty happy with this phone now after having it for a few weeks. The battery is way better than I thought it would be. The speakers on this phone are horrible for listening to music. The wifi connections are spotty and lose connection to wifi, I have to do some tricks to get it to work properly. I don't camera much but it takes great pictures to me. I really didn't like this phone at the start, but it kinda grew on me. I was really hoping the speakers would be better. Overall though it's a nice phone and seems pretty quick googling and was easy to setup after disabling things I don't use. There's more apps than usual pixels from the past. The screen is brighter and clear. I'll keep this phone and wait for the pixel 10 though.

I bought the unlocked version for a Christmas gift while it was on sale. It will be a huge leap from the older, other brand, the recipient has. I am looking forward to seeing her face when she opens the gift!

I recently purchased a Google Pixel fone from the Best Buy near me. The staff was super helpful and she patiently listened to all my requirements and helped me shortlist options which catered to it. I was able to get the item easily and all in all it took me just 40-50 mins for the entire trip. So I would say great experience!Highly recommend.

I’ve been using the Pixel 9 for 3 months now and I’m seriously impressed. The camera quality is outstanding, especially in low light — my photos have never looked better. The phone is super fast, smooth, and doesn’t overheat even with heavy use. Battery life easily lasts all day, and I love the clean Android experience. It feels premium in hand, and the AI features are genuinely helpful without being gimmicky.

Google Pixel 9 is amazing! The Google Pixel 9 is truly impressive. The sleek and modern design stands out, and it feels just right in your hand—comfortable and premium. The software experience is smooth and intuitive, making everything run fast and efficiently. But the real star here is the camera. It consistently delivers stunning, vibrant photos with amazing detail, even in low light. Whether you're into photography or just want a reliable phone for everyday use, the Pixel 9 is a perfect choice. It’s a great all-around device! Pixel is definitely a quality android at a decent price. Pixel 9 is no exception but I did prefer the rectangular and slim profile of my Pixel 6. The Pixel 9 is slightly smaller with rounded edges and thicker as well. Very minimalistic packaging.

Google pixel is very good Phone. Easy of use and intuitive to maneuver your way through phone. While buying at Best Buy they made me feel comfortable in knowing all the features, protection plans and refund options. Also they let me walk away with phone using Best Buy credit and asked me to pay later.

The phone is great and it came in a proper and safe packaging. The back of the phone is a fingerprint magnet, so better put on a cover. The 120 fps and Google AI is what separates it from iPhone 16. I charge it once a day and it still has about 25% battery remaining. Would highly recommend this if you are looking to move away from the apple ecosystem and try something better.

Bought this phone since it released, and I've really had no complaints on it. It's pretty responsive and receptive to most of my needs of a phone, the camera is pretty nice, and having all the great features of a Google-based phone (Ex: Screen Calling) are an immediate plus on top of a decent battery that can last me more than a day with the right use. Consider me a fan of this Gen of the Google Pixel.
