Customers praise the Pixel 9 Pro Fold 5G 256GB's large screen size, excellent camera quality, and impressive battery life. Many appreciate the phone's sleek design and the innovative foldable functionality, finding it to be a top-performing device in its class. While some users noted a visible crease on the unfolded screen and limitations with wireless charging, the positive feedback significantly outweighs the negative. The software and hinge mechanism also received positive comments.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is not only the best foldable that I have ever used (previous Z Fold 3 & 4 owner), but this is the best phone I have ever owned. Part of that is because of the software and this is where Android really shines. First they have taken a few steps to combat spam/robo calls, by screen and allowing you to block them with one button. I typically get 2-3 per day and the last 2 days I haven't received any. I am sure I will still get them but they seem less frequent. Second is the call notes feature, which transcribes and takes notes of the conversation. when activated, it plays a brief message that the other caller can hear letting them know the conversation is being recorded and then once the call is over you can view the notes from the call. This comes in handy when having discussions while driving or when unable to take notes. They also have these google assistant routines when you set alarms which allows the weather or calendar agenda to be displayed when the alarm rings. The hardware is the second reason this phone is my favorite. The outside screen is similar to any bar style phone and just slightly wider than the Z Fold device which makes the screen so much more usable. When open the phone feels like the equivalent of having 2 monitors for your computer. Runnings 2 apps side by side is what this phone was made for. The camera's are great even though I have taken man pics with them yet. Overall this is the best phone I have ever had and would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for a foldable.

iOS user for more than 10 yrs and I finally made the switch After spending time with the Google Pixel Fold 9 Pro, I can confidently say it’s one of the most exciting and well-executed devices I’ve ever used. What I Loved: Premium Foldable Design: The engineering is top-notch. The hinge feels robust, and the fold mechanism is smooth and satisfying. When open, the device transforms into a mini tablet, making it perfect for productivity, reading, and entertainment. Gorgeous Display: Both the outer and inner screens are sharp, vibrant, and ultra-responsive. The refresh rate is silky smooth, and the brightness handles outdoor use with no problem. Exceptional Camera System: The cameras are flagship-level. Google’s computational photography shines through with rich detail, excellent low-light performance, and standout features like Magic Eraser and Super Res Zoom. Pure Android Experience: Fast, clean, and intuitive. Google’s software optimization makes multitasking seamless, and Android updates arrive promptly. Great Battery Life: Despite the large screen and power demands, battery life exceeded expectations. I easily got a full day with moderate to heavy use. Why It Deserves 5 Stars: The Pixel Fold 9 Pro isn’t just a foldable phone—it’s a productivity powerhouse, a top-tier camera, and a polished Android experience all in one. While foldables once felt like a gimmick, this feels practical and ready for everyday use. Yes, it's expensive, but you get a premium experience that feels worth the price. Final Verdict: If you’re ready to embrace foldable tech, the Pixel Fold 9 Pro is the best place to start. Google nailed the balance between innovation and usability. Rating: 5/5 stars. Highly recommended.

A Purchase Filled With Purpose and Deep Gratitude

This wasn’t just a phone. It was hope, connection, and accessibility wrapped into a sleek little package. I recently purchased a Google Pixel phone for my mother, who is slowly losing her eyesight. As her daughter and caregiver, every decision I make is about preserving her sense of independence, and this Pixel truly delivered. With its intuitive interface, large screen, and accessibility features like voice control and magnification, it has become a lifeline for her. She can now navigate messages, check appointments, and stay connected with her family without needing help every time. She feels included and confident again. What made this experience truly memorable was the team at the Best Buy Manassas, VA location. The store manager and associates were incredibly understanding, patient, and kind. They didn’t rush me, listened to my requirements with care, and offered the best deal available on the device. They took time to explain the accessibility settings, helped me set everything up in-store, and made sure I left with a fully functioning, connected phone to place in my mother's hands right away. That meant the world to me. This was more than a tech purchase. It was a moment of dignity, compassion, and thoughtful customer service. Thank you to the Best Buy Manassas team, especially the manager and her associates, for helping make this possible. Just so they recognize me, I brought them Starbucks coffees as a small gesture of gratitude after the purchase. —Swetha S.

Finally. I have had every generation of the Z Fold from Samsung. They felt like carrying around a TV remote. For years consumers have begged Samsung for a wider front screen, thinner profile and better battery life. Enter Google. I'm not a power user so their chip doesn't bother me. It has more than enough juice to multitask and handle my day to day flawlessly. And I don't have to carry around a charger.

Pixel 9 Pro fold has all the Ai you could possibly ever need and the 16gb of RAM with new Tensor G4 chip provides plenty of power to perform nearly any task you ask of it. The Pixel user experience is why I keep buying the Pixel series phones. They work well, and often what does not work completely. Is quickly fixed. The Pro 9 Fold is no different. It has the thin compact size your pocket wants, coupled with the ability to unfold and reveal a glorious 8 inch tablet that will spoil you for other flat phones. And with Gemini baked in. Google might have given us a reason to pay monthly subscription fees to have AI in our lives. This is my 3rd Pixel Phone. Read on to see how my first week of use changed how you too may fall victim to the charms and magic of the new Pixel Pro 9 Fold. Pros: All the same great Pixel 9 Pro (XL) features for 2024 Pixels class leading cameras Split screening apps Gemini Advanced Premium build quality Vapor Chamber cooling 7 years of updates IPx8 waterproofing (the 8 means the best waterproofing available) Satellite SOS Beyond bright screens for true direct sun viewing Cons: Price IPx8 = No dust rating (the x means no dust rating) No SD card expansion slot, get the biggest storage option Does not charge on Pixels most recent Qi charger, Pixel 2 Charger Stand Folding phones: Folding phones that work on US networks, and especially Verizon networks (I use Visible), do come with a hefty price tag. Luckily there might still be incentives and deals to help ease the wallet pain. This is my first Pixel Fold and it has spoiled me for ever using a typical non-folding phone again. Pulling double duty as a typical phone for all common uses you need a smartphone for, like quick replies to texts or social media and of course phone calls. The outer screen is as good and likely better than any phone currently available, no compromises here. The true treasure is the unfolding of the inner screen. It's amazing to have so much portable screen available wherever and whenever you need a bit more screen without the hassle of a tablet and bag to carry it all. Granted the Fold does not solve everything to completely eliminate all other devices. But you can certainly leave them home far more than you use too, and do not worry about the crease many want you to think it is an issue. Its nearly invisible and you just don't notice it when editing content, browsing, watching videos or general use. With folding, you do lose under screen fingerprint unlock on both screens. Folding phones revert back to the possibly more reliable side power button with fingerprint unlock. Although, face unlock is extremely good. MAJOR TIP! Be sure to toggle off "Skip Lock Screen" (type the quote in the settings search bar and enter your pin) if you want the always on display to show the content of notifications when you lift or tap phone. If engaged the notifications will only show icons, not content. Physical dimension: There is 3 Pro Pixel phones this year. The Fold is nearly the same size and thickness as the smaller Pixel 9 Pro. And I could not be happier with both the Folds new smaller candy bar dimensions and how ultra thin it is when unfolded. When folded it is a bit heavier than its siblings. Unfolded it oddly seems lighter, I guess because the mass is distributed. And if you never tried a folding phone. It folds a bit like a stiff laptop. It holds the angle from flat to closed of where you fold it to. And folding flat is great, but the camera bump will cause wobble if laid on table for use, some cases might change that. Overall, it has that heft of quality if you now what I mean, but by no means too heavy. Folded closed it is easy to keep a good grip and unfolded just feels nice in hand, not too slippery. I do hope Bellroy Pro 9 Fold leather cases arrive soon . The nice rounded edges are likely designed to help with accidental drops. I don't want to ever find out how my personal phone handles a drop without a nice case installed. Plastic cases at launch were not my cup of tea given the ultra premium build quality of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Cameras: While there is no hiding that some of the Fold cameras have a small compromise in megapixel count to the other Pixel 9 Pro phones. Worry not, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the best cameras in this segment too. I included some pics of deer in my yard (one Reimagined). And at 50+ feet away, and reduced daylight of evening. The 5x zoom and non-zoom pics all look amazing. Day or night, Google engineers squeezed magic into every Pixel phone and the Fold is no different. An expert might see the difference between phone cameras. I doubt normal humans will see it. And with all the great AI enhanced tech added this year like Auto Frame, Add Me, Reimagine, Zoom Enhance, and the even better Magic Editor that can even help remove distracting audio from videos. Your photos and videos will look awesome. It Is The Reason You Buy Pixel Pro Phones. And if still not sure. The Fold gets many of its very own exclusive camera features. The big one for families will be "Made You Look" where the front screen will show one of four cute animations (audio and video) to get the attention and smiles of even the most stubborn subjects; babies, pets and grumpy uncle Ted. Then there is all the additional ways to take a better selfie while using the better main cameras. You can use the front screen aimed at you to easily see yourself on a big screen and snap that highest resolution shot of yourself. If not using "Ad Me" photo feature, where you take the original picture, then someone else holds the camera while you pose like you were in the 1st photo you just took. So it hopefully looks like a 3rd person took a photo of everyone. The Fold can be set in a 90 degree angle Tabletop Mode (think laptop shape) and the phone can be set down on a shelf or bench to take a timer group shot so no one is left out. No more strangers being asked to hold your flat phone. Audio: The phone sounds great in calls with "Clear Calling" working to improve audio for both ends of the call. And with a speaker on top of the front screen and speaker on bottom of the back camera half. Audio is clear, crisp, and loud when needed. It sadly will muffle the lower speaker if you set phone down or rest it on your chest for couch/bed viewing sessions. The Fold does have the most recent Bluetooth to transfer audio to the latest buds or speakers. Battery: The specs show a smaller battery than the previous model. Don't worry. Short of having the screen on full time and figuring out world peace. Typical use got me well into the second day with 3+ hours of screen on use and battery to spare according to the battery app (pic included). Your use will vary greatly with how much battery you do or don't have during a given day. Tensor G4 chip is clearly far more efficient at battery saving. Just make sure to have a good higher wattage charger brick when you do need to top off the battery. Only a charge cable is included. Also know the Pixel 2 stand charger many loyal Pixel owners already own. Does not work as the power coil of the Fold is lower than other Pixels. There are great 3D printed options to doctor this issue that raise the Fold higher on the stand. That will be for you to find or do as it won't be advisable to share here. Just know, at launch there is probably only one stand on the market that lines up correctly. You might know which One,plus its out of stock currently. You may have to settle on laying it flat on a 15w Qi charger till a better charger comes to market. Or plug the usb-c cable in. New Features/Gemini: Many of the new Gemini and AI features work well and have been covered by many. Time will only make these better if you don't fancy any of them right now. Definitely give the Magic Editor a try. "Reimagine" is a lot of fun to play with and you might need to learn how to take a better pictures that lends itself to have more background to play with. Reimagine can make your day in the park, very convincing that it was instead a day at the beach, mountains or maybe Paris. Ooh La La indeed. Your imagination can run wild here. It will change photos forever. Then there is "Auto Frame" to help us less than perfect photogs get more interesting professional shots by better framing pictures. It works well, but might change the feeling in the picture you wanted. Its good though. Another must try and might be Google Ai's best ambassador, Gemini Advanced (Gemini app, button at the lower right gets you there ). It is free to many for a year, but will be a subscription after free trial is up. Oversimplified, it lets you have a conversation in real time with one of a few male/female voice options for Ai. A real conversation with the ability to gain knowledge, be silly and perhaps be entertained, and Gemini does not get bothered if you interrupt. Chatty people with no friends available can talk to Gemini and have a transcript when the conversation ends. It is an absolute must try. Its far more useful than the text only chatbots many have already tried. I dare say this might be worth the subscription price once the trial ends. Older folks will love it. What is new and exclusive to the Fold that stood out to me and will be used daily... Split Screen. My favorite everyday feature of the Fold so far. Split Screen simply takes two apps and runs them side by side. Split screen even offers to save your favorite app combos to open together as a shortcut. I used a Google keep shopping list on the left half of the screen and my grocery store app on the right to see the current coupons/deals. Far easier then constantly gesturing between the 2 apps before the Fold. Or simply browse the internet on one half while scrolling through social media next to it. See it all at the same time. It works with most apps. The more I use the P9P Fold. The more I like it. Google has really dialed the new Pixel 9 series in.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold - Unfolding the Future!

Foldables used to be a novelty. They have since evolved and become a more accepted segment of smartphones. While the basic concept may appear the same, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold cleverly sets itself apart from the competition with its unique set of features you may have not initially realized you needed. As packaged: • Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold • USB-C Cable • Sim Removal Tool • Support/Warranty Booklet My Obsidian Black Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold shipped with 256GB of storage and a stunning 16GB RAM; multitasking is effortless! It is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor. Tasks were accomplished moderately quickly with no signs of lag in my experience. Booting is literally instantaneous compared to other Android devices with a “phone starting” phase in the boot sequence. It is hard not to notice how incredibly thin the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is, especially when unfolded. Each half is just about 0.2 inches thick, 3 inches wide and 6.1 inches tall making the device very portable when folded. It weighs about 258g and sports a 6.3-inch external display and a massive 8-inch internal display. Both displays are OLED ensuring deep blacks and stunning contrasts; they are also bright maxing out brightness at about 2700 nits. The external display is capable of 1080 x 2424 resolution while the inner maxes out at 2076 x 2152. While both displays are capable of a 120Hz refresh rate (for smoothness), it must be noted that the inner can vary from 1Hz thru 120Hz with the external capable of either 60Hz or 120Hz. Naturally, it may be desirable to maintain the 120Hz refresh rate for the displays but it is good to know what options they offer with regards to their variability. Power saving modes, for example, typically reduce the refresh rate to help conserve energy. To ensure durability, the external display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass although an additional screen protector would not hurt in my opinion. Ultra Thin Glass is employed for the inner display. The hinge mechanism on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is composed of a multi-alloy steel. It is satisfying to open and close. When closed, both halves of the device fold perfectly on top of each other helping make the Pixel 9 Pro Fold very portable. Unfolding, the inner display opens up a full 180 degrees and masks the crease very well, in my opinion. Google states the hinge is covered by an” aerospace-grade high-strength aluminum alloy.” A silky matte Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is the material chosen for the back; the remaining device is a satin metal frame. There is a power/fingerprint sensor and a volume rocker on the right-hand of the device when opened. In my experience, the fingerprint sensor has been accurate every single time. The rear of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold houses three cameras: a 48MP wide, a 10.5MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP telephoto lens. Both the inner and outer displays have 10MP cameras. The only port on the device is a USB Type-C. For 5G connectivity, Pixel 9 Pro Fold is compatible with the 5G mmWave and Sub 6GHz Model GGH2X networks. It is also backwards compatible with most 4G LTE bands. All four GSM bands (850, 900, 1800 and 1900) are accessible. SIMs can either be a physical nano SIM or an electronic, eSIM. Satellite SOS is a new technology whereby users can communicate with first responders via satellites should they be outside cellular or Wi-Fi service coverage areas. There is an elaborate demo that simulates an off-grid scenario (cellular and Wi-Fi connections are actually suspended at some point during the demo); the lifesaving potential of this feature cannot be overemphasized. Wi-Fi 7 standard can be utilized provided there is access to the appropriate wireless router. Bluetooth version 5.3 with top notch encryption and energy efficiencies are packaged onboard for communication. A 4650 mAh battery powers the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. In my daily use, it has made it through the day with significant browsing, moderate calling & texting all while serving as a mobile hotspot for another device. It is capable of both wireless and tethered fast charging via a compatible 45W USB-C charger. Similar to other manufacturers, Google does not provide a charging adapter. Although the camera array protrudes, I was still able to get my Pixel 9 Pro Fold to charge wirelessly in my car, suggesting a wide area of the device’s back is capable of charging it. Other manufacturer’s I have encountered typically concentrate the technology to the central area of the device’s back. To help deal with the rigors of daily life, the device has an IPX8 water resistance, which sadly implies it is neither waterproof nor dustproof. While the hardware specifications are impressive, Google’s own Android OS and its synergy with the hardware is, in my opinion, one of the greatest selling points of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google is renowned for data and thus does not come as a surprise the ease at which this data is made available to you. An example is a direct link to the street view of a contact address. My other Android devices would show the location in Google Maps but Google takes it a step further. Calling businesses via their contact numbers lists the business name in the call log. If a all you may remember about a song is how to hum it, Google will listen and identify for you. Being very familiar with data and the daily threats we face, Google provides a free VPN in selected countries. Google VPN hides/masks browsing data which can be particularly useful when connected to public Wi-Fi. It can also be enabled for your cellular provider if you so choose. Other foldables typically focus on the larger inner display when opened and expansive outcome. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold stands out by actually utilizing all displays in the accomplishment of tasks such as those listed below: • Made You Look – External display captivates younger subjects (i.e. babies, toddlers etc.) with animation as their picture is taken • Rear Camera Selfie – A user is able to harness the rear cameras for selfies. The external display provides a preview • Dual Screen Preview – As a user prepares to take a picture, the subjects are able to see the preview on the external display Google’s AI Gemini, already impressive, receives an update to an advanced version should you opt in for the trial. Inputs can be either text, speech or visual (picture). Responses are quick and conversational, at times even suggesting follow-up questions. Gmail storage sizes get upgraded to 2TB for the trial. Reimagine is a clever tool that also uses AI to edit pictures. It is powerful and can be fun, especially when altering scenes/scenarios. AI is used for processing camera images to enhance after capture. Night Sight is a feature that helps reduce the occurrence of grainy pictures due to low light. Add Me is another feature worth mentioning as two users are able to get a picture together by initially taking turns capturing each other which ultimately get stitched for the final image. In closing, Google is a good data curator and it thus comes as no surprise their devices would take advantage of this. The user’s needs are constantly anticipated so the needed task/data request can be effortlessly completed. With a promise of seven years of OS and security updates, there is no doubt the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will only get smarter.

Love it! A Tablet in My Pocket!

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is my first foldable phone. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if foldables were a gimmick or not, but now that I’ve used it for a little over a week, I’m not sure if I could go back to a “normal phone”. The fact that I can fit a larger tablet-like device in my pocket is amazing. When folded, you get a full-size “normal” experience as the Pro Fold’s 6.3” Super Actua OLED outer display is the exact same size as the non-foldable Pixel 9. The real party trick is when you unfold it and are greeted to an expansive 8” almost-square OLED screen that just gives you so much more room for whatever you are doing. Both the outer and inner displays support HDR and have their own 10MP dual PD selfie cameras. The 8” inner display also supports LTPO technology which allows it to run between 1-120Hz. You might think that a foldable would be a thicker device, but I was shocked to find it’s not much thicker than my iPhone 15 Pro. When unfolded, it’s even thinner, and is in fact the thinnest foldable on the market. The phone’s hinges are sturdy, and it does take a bit of effort to unfold, definitely a two-handed job and longer fingernails will help. I’m guessing this is by design as they expect the hinges to get looser over time. With the larger screen, I’ve found it enjoyable to read web articles, comics, books and to get some work done in Outlook and Teams. According to Google, this is the largest screen ever on a smartphone. For me, it’s much easier to type without error on the larger on-screen keyboard. You can use two phone apps at once, side-by-side, just like a tablet. As far as the screen’s crease, I’ve found it to only be noticeable on black or almost black content, or when viewing from an angle. Most of the time, you will not see it at all. Google also nailed transitioning from one screen the other. You'll start to do something on the outer screen, then open it up and that same app will seamlessly adapt it's content to the larger screen. Because it folds, there are five camera lenses on this device, three in the rear and both the inner and outer screen have their own. This allows the phone to do some unique tricks such as using the outer screen when unfolded to take a higher quality rear-camera selfie or use the Fold exclusive “Make You Look” feature that will distract young children to get them to look into the camera. There’s also a tabletop photo mode where you can set it on a table, get in the picture and “wave” to the phone to take the shot. My favorite is the ability for Google Translate to be able to show content on both screens in conversation mode. The person you are speaking to can easily read your translation on the outer screen and then respond in their own language which gets translated back to you on the inner screen. The Fold's rear camera array comes equipped with a 48MP Quad PD Wide lens, a 10.5 MP Dual PD Ultrawide lens, and finally a 10.8MP Dual PD Telephoto lens. While you can still capture excellent photos, these lenses are not as good as the ones found on the non-folding Pixel 9 Pro or 9 Pro XL. Those phones (and even the older Pixel 8 Pro) come with better ultrawide and telephoto lenses that sport 48 MP and Quad PD. The Fold is also limited to 4K video recording while the Pixel Pro 9 and 9 XL can shoot 8K. As far as camera features go, I was highly impressed with the macro mode, as I was able to get in very close to small objects and the Pixel was able to capture clear, in-focus photos and every grain of dust. The Night Sight feature, which allows you to take low-light photo and video was less impressive. In most comparison shots I found that I had better contrast, color and less noise on my iPhone than the Pixel. “Add Me” is a nifty feature that works but can be tricky to get people to look like they were actually near each other. The Magic Editor has a “Reimagine” feature that uses generative AI to edit your photos. If the sky in your original photo is drab, you can make it blue or add some clouds or even birds. (side note, when I tried this, it added so many birds to the sky it looked like a scene from the classic horror movie The Birds!) If the grass is dead in your backyard, you can select it and have Magic Editor Reimagine a lush green lawn. There are Magic Eraser features, which can remove people in the background of your photos or unwanted sounds like a car horn from your video. For the most part, the AI tools either work or they don’t. You can get exceptional results but then a lot of times not, or you will get weird artifacts in you photo like in one case I got a lot of extra reflections that didn’t exist on a picture of a metallic object. Battery life has been excellent so far. I have not had any issues getting through an entire day and Google claims it will go 72-hours in “Extreme Battery Saver” mode, which I haven’t had a need to try yet. The Fold does also support Qi wireless charging. Pros: - Smartphone or Tablet? - Incredibly Thin when Unfolded - Superb Battery Life - 6.3” Outer 1080x2424 OLED Display with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at 60-120Hz - 8” Inner 2076x2152 OLED Display at 1-120Hz - Tensor G4 Processor with 16GB RAM and Titan M2 Security - Support for Face and Fingerprint Unlock - 256GB of Storage (512 optional) - Easy Multitasking with Split-Screen - Wifi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 - 7 Years of OS and Security Updates - Physical Sim Card Slot and eSIM - Free Google VPN - 2 Years Free Satellite SOS Service - 12-month trial of Google One AI Premium Cons: - Expensive - Lesser Camera Hardware than Other Pixel 9 Pros Overall – the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold blurs the line between a phone and tablet. It’s a tablet that can fit in your pocket but at the same time can be a normal Pixel 9 phone if you want it to. I think at some point all premium phones will be foldable because there are so many benefits to the larger screen. It comes down to whether you want to be an early adopter of the technology and if you do Google’s latest foldable is the best you can currently buy.

True Innovation from a Smart Phone

We have very much become in a phase of smart phones where it’s just a rectangle with a cool camera. And eventually, we need to be able to push the limits on what a phone can do and what it should be able to do. Folding phones came on the scene a few years ago but have came with some hiccups so far. However, the new Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold feels and works like a fully formed innovation that is ready for the world to notice. PROS: - Unboxing this I was truly blown away. The design of this phone is remarkable, I can’t believe how think they made this yet it feels very modern and sophisticated. The phone is just a great design! - Google has taken a great approach with their smartphones that they make the phones, they make the chips, and they make the software. Meaning it’s a very smooth process to load up your phone for the first time and transfer over your old phones information and data to the new one. - In “folded” mode, the phone is great! The screen really pops and does a good job handling all the apps, texts, and calls you think it would be able to make. - Of course the main selling point is the “unfolded” mode, and it truly shines in this format. Unfolding the phone does not feel flimsy at all but something satisfying and stable. The larger screen is immediately impressive and Google knows how to make use out of this! Particularly, you can multitask by using 2 apps at the same time which is really useful when trying to text and watch content or maybe research the internet for a recipe while you add the ingredients to your to do list. Of course, you can just use the big giant screen for one app at a time too which is beautiful! - Adding to that, there is just something so fun and satisfying to switch from the folded screen to the unfolded screen. Google provides such a seamless way to switch from one to the other, and it makes for a great ease of use. And this adds to the appeal because yes there are times when using the folded screen is just going to be more useful when my hands are full, but the flexibility of using that huge unfolded screen in certain situations is just very rewarding and makes this phone that more fun! - The cameras on the Google pixel are also all impressive. There are specs like 48 megapixels and 5x zoom, but to regular people they will just notice how crips and clear the pictures look and how you can edit and view them on that big gorgeous foldable screen. Great use for video calls or content creation too! - On top of these things, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold just does every smart phone thing really well. It’s fast, it can load up apps quickly, and Google is investing more into its Gemini AI that it increases ease of use on Google products. CONS: - Really nothing negative I can think of! I’d like to see more android support for apps that fully take control of the bigger foldable screen but across Android, iOS, and Windows some developers just do not want to make apps that work on anything besides a regular phone screen. BOTTOM LINE: - The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is simple the most excited I have been using a new smartphone in quite some time. It has a beautiful design, the screens are spectacular, it’s loaded with tons of features, has great cameras, and of course the folding design is just a game changer. Google really nailed it with their new foldable phone, and I think after using it you won’t ever want go back to the old ways of smartphones.

    Glitches and not so durable

It's a very useful device and Google is definitely making steps in the correct direction. There are glitches with the device, though, in the software of the device itself and various apps when it is switched from one screen to the other and when not switched at all. For example, when streaming shows from Prime, the photosensitive and mature content warning flags at the beginning of the video will stay on screen for the entire video when I would switch from one screen to the other even just once. I did allow for the app to load onto the screen that I wanted to use before streaming whatever I wanted to watch, but the warning still stayed on screen even when I would reload it to the other screen. It was like having an ad banner staying on screen then entire time and really took away from what I was watching. And with the phone app, and I'm not sure if this was user error, there were times that my calls would not stay on speaker no matter what I did. It would automatically turn off. There were other apps that had glitches as well, but they didn't happen often enough for me to remember them. All of the software issues I mentioned above were nonexistent in my boyfriend's Pixel 9 Pro, which is what made me switch over to pixels in the first place. The difference in software performance, in terms of glitching, made the fold and the normal Pixel seem like almost two completely different phones. Or maybe I'm just too picky. I just wanted to write this review in case someone else has had the same issue with their fold. Also, this phone is most definitely not made for people who have busy daily lives, or the average "dirty" type worker. This is probably a given, but I thought to try this phone out to see it's hardiness. You would need an office job or something similar with a clean environment to be able to keep this phone in working condition. I am a metal smith that works with abrasives and I think that one of the grains from those abrasives got caught in between the folded screen and created a dent in the surface that will not come out. I'm sure if someone who could keep the phone folded would not have this issue, I myself just like to use my devices a lot for watching YouTube or shows that I like to stream. Due to my budget and the probability of me not being able to bring it to be repaired if I were to break the big screen, I will be switching over to Google's normal Pixel phones. The battery life is ok, though I guess pretty good for the amount of power that this phone has. I'm not too familiar with the details with all of that, I just know that with streaming videos or listening to podcasts and having apps for driving insurance and Life360 running in the background all day the battery lasts me from 7:00 am until I go to bed at 9-10 pm. The camera is pretty good, I just prefer the normal pixels' quality. Especially for the selfie camera on the front screen, it's around three quarters of the quality of the rear camera. The selfie camera on the folded screen is even worse, I'd say even a third of the rear camera. Screen quality is pretty good, though you won't be streaming 4k video on the folded screen. You can get just about 720p quality and that's it. Hope this helps someone

It's really hard not to like this phone. Using the outer screen is like using a "normal" sized smartphone (i.e., not Max sized). It's easy to type on and to view most content. When you need a bigger screen, unfold it and you essentially have an iPad Mini. I have enjoyed good battery life and I rarely have to place the phone on the charger before 8:00 PM unless I have been heavily using the inner screen. Calls sound great through the speaker and listeners tell me that I sound very clear. When viewing YouTube or streaming other video content, I do wish the speakers were a little louder, but you can only get so much out of a phone this thin. The cameras, while not flagship level, are quite good thanks to the famous Pixel processing. Overall, I would definitely recommend this phone, especially if you are deeply integrated into Google's services and other hardware. I have several Google Home devices and the Pixel Watch 3, and everything plays very nicely with the phone.

I wanted to try a foldable but wasnt sold on the Samsung, so decided to give the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold a try. I've had it over a month now and am very impressed with everything about it. For a foldable its quite thin, the screens are crisp and plenty bright in daylight, the battery life is enough to get me through all day easily and its played every mobile game I've thrown at it without a problem. The crease when it is unfolded is not bad, when watching videos you cant really tell its there most of the time.

This is my first flagship phone since the flip-phone era. I've been a Samsung smartphone user for a decade and a half and wanted to try something new. Coming from Samsung wasn't too much of a learning curve. Anything I had a question about, YouTube had the answer. Battery life is really good. The fold crease is of course noticable but it doesn't both me at all. Gaming is a little too fun with the larger screen. I like that the phone is just a phone until you open it... and you don't have to open it. Only one little issue is the wireless charging coil sits a bit lower in the body and I've had to add some spacers to a couple of Qi chargers to lift the phone about 3/8". Worth it. I'm still learning the Pixel tricks but so far, I'm really enjoying this early Christmas present to myself.

Other than the surface duo, this is my favorite phone. They need to work on ease of multitasking using gestures, but the screen size, weight, and build quality are all fantastic. Incredible battery life compared to my galaxy z fold 5 used previously.

After 2 weeks of usage I am in love with this form factor. Being able to use the phone with a normal aspect ratio using the cover screen feels familiar. But then when I want to get a bigger view or use 2 apps at once. The inner screen becomes super handy. Only downsides are this phone is a 2 handed phone. Mainly because of the weight. The software also could offer more multi tasking features. Such as drag and drop floating windows. Saving common dual screen apps. You can only multitask with 2 apps. Additionally when rotating the screen it rotats the app windows into landscape. There's no way to force apps to show in portrait view when the phone is rotated. Cameras seem decent so far, nothing to blow you away but also still good. Would love to see the cameras use the same ones as the pixel 9 pro. Battery Life is also really good. Easily getting 7-9 hours of screen on time during my day to day usage.

The width of this device vs the a fold 6 is what makes me enjoy using it more. Easier to text when closed. Battery life is quite solid and the phone is snappy and fast. The camera is also formidable. Combined with google processing, we have a winner. My only complaint is the location of the qi coil in back. Small complaint.
