My first impression is that it was well packaged. The case that comes with it is sturdy. Inside there is this styrofoam-like material to keep everything contained inside the case. I am not sure if I meant to keep it. It does say recycle on the styrofoam. The purpose of the styrofoam might be to keep it from moving before you open it. It sits somewhat flush. Inside, you get a guide that shows you how to get connected, a 1-foot long USB C cable, a bracket, a screw to secure that bracket, and a mount with 3m adhesive. I turned it on and then realized there was a tiny screen on the top. It delivers data horizontally. It takes a while to read the whole sentence. You'll probably only use it to select the language as English. It also shows how much time you have left to record. During this setup, it asked for a memory card. I thought I had a compatible one, but it would not insert. I looked for 30 seconds to find one, and then it let out this loud beep. It actually kind of frightened me the first time it happened. I went to the store to get a memory card. Once I got the memory card I connected the GoPro through the Quik app. It is simple to pair, and the connection is superb. I have had no issues disconnecting or trouble connecting. What I found surprising is it can connect even when the GoPro is turned off. The first thing I did in the software was turn off the beep. It got annoying after a while. Even though it is set to medium volume by default, it is still quite loud. I tried the preview feature to see what the camera sees. It takes at least 10 seconds to connect. I don't believe anyone would use it to line up a quick shot. At this point, you would've been better off guessing where it is focused. In due time, however, I am sure I will get an idea of where it's focused. I may have to opt for a GoPro with a screen next time. The last quirk I have with the application is the scrollbar for zoom. There is a scrollbar to adjust how much of a fishbowl look you want. I have tiny fingers compared to other guys. I have a hard trying to touch it. I had the preview open and titled my GoPro 90 degrees. To my satisfaction, it changed the recording orientation immediately. This will come in handy for people who live stream or make TikTok videos for phones. It also gets too warm, to the point, it is almost uncomfortable to hold. I do not see myself in the future just using this alone. If you plan to record vlogs with it you will need a tripod or a gorilla pod. Now I have not recorded much with it. However, from what I have noticed the battery gets depleted quickly. I recorded a 5-minute video and lost 9% battery. I started with 64% and ended at 55%. For its size, I suppose it makes sense to lose that much battery. So overall, I think it is a great product. The quality is stunning. It does a great job in dark conditions. It is beginner friendly. That beep almost took this product to a 4-star... I found it that annoying. Well done GoPro.

The GoPro HERO11 Mini is an amazing product for recording high quality video that doesn't sacrifice much from the full size HERO 11 in exchange for more flexibility in where it can be used, like with drones. Let's start with a couple obvious differences from full size GoPros. The HERO 11 Mini does not have a front or rear view screen. The rear appears to more of a heat sink and there is also a rear mounting bracket with fingers that allow for a lower profile. Obviously, there are no touch screen controls which means the unit is controlled by 2 buttons (power, record) and via the GoPro Quik app. There is a small LCD screen up top that shows vital information. The other difference is that there is no removeable battery for battery swaps during long sessions. Instead, the unit must be charged via USB-C. So if you typically use a GoPro for long amounts of time it will make having a good portable power bank a necessity. Other than the removal of view screens and the lack of a removeable battery, the HERO11 Mini seems to perform just the same as the larger GoPros. It films natively with a 8:7 ratio so it allows the user to actually crop if converting to other ratios like 16:9. I initially wondered about how to know if I was pointing the lens at what I wanted to capture with no view screen, but I soon came to realize that I just needed to point it in the general direction of the subject. The unit captures a large area so it ends up being very simple to use. And I can always crop if I need to in post-production. It can capture up to 5.3K at 60 fps or 4K at 120 fps. The mic captured sound very well, just as well as full size GoPros. There are neat field of view options for the HERO11 Mini, one of which is Hyperview which creates a wide-field view. There is also image smoothing/stabilization as well as a feature to keep the image locked on the horizon. The unit is waterproof to a reasonable depth and I can say that it does survive plenty of drops, as you would expect from GoPro. I loved that the HERO11 Mini was easy to mount to my drone and I think users will find all kinds of creative places to use this. I can understand that some people really need the view screens and the touch controls that come along with those. I will say that I used the LCD screen and 2 physical buttons to quickly setup anything I needed, but the GoPro Quik app can also let you dive as deep as you want into customization of the field of view options and many other features. I would recommend this to anyone, and would make an amazing holiday gift for anyone teenage and up.

I love using this GoPro once I picked up needed accessories for it. This is a big reason why I am giving it 3 stars. I am a big fan of getting something and it comes with everything needed. This is not the case with this. It comes with a helmet adaptor and that was it. It is also attached to the helmet with a tape so once you place that, you can't remove it to use elsewhere. So, unless you have a helmet you are going to use this with, you will need to buy additional mount brackets. You will also need a SD card that is compatible with this. I would rather pay a little more and have this come with a SD card, as well as a more universal mount. maybe a provided head strap with a mount that be used with a helmet or without or include at least 2 mounts, one for a helmet like it does but then another for those who want to use it not with a helmet. The software app. I am hoping that they can update this but if not then maybe something I would hope they fix. But you can preview the video, however, once you start to actually record video, then you no longer can see the preview. I would like to make sure that I continue to capture what I want and see how it is looking while I am recording. This also has a built-in internal battery. My gripe is that I get about an hour of battery. This depends on how you want the quality. I would like to be able to have a backup battery that I can swap if needed. I would have also liked to be able to plug this in and use it like a webcam. The quality is great and love the wide angle it provides. So, it would have made a great webcam. Things that I do love with this though. First the size. I do love the size of this. Small and lightweight makes it hardly noticeable when using. Video quality is great. Even on low settings to save power, it's not too bad. But being able to set to 4k or even 5k if you want, that just makes the video look great. And having the extra wide angle on it. You get a nice capture of surroundings. The heat sink on the back can get hot, but the camera itself does not so that seems to help it out. The 2 mounting spots with this is nice to have you that extra angle to mount if you need it. I like that you can go live with this as well. At the moment, maybe just my phone, but I was only able to go live with twitch. Overall, I am happy to get this. I would like to see at least a couple things that I mentioned, the app being able to preview even when recording, and maybe a more universal mounting option.

I had two other GoPros back in the days. Both were horrible. Decided to give a try for the 11 mini. OMG. First attempt dead on arrival. Contact go pro and after months got that crap replaced. The new one doesn’t connect to my phone, doesn’t record anything. Literally a $300 useless piece of garbage

I had always wanted a GoPro so when I saw this one, I seized my opportunity. When it came, I was like a kid at Christmas. The camera comes with a case, USB-C cable, an adhesive mount, which woukd come in handy for mounting to a helmet. It also has a mount with a thumb screw for more mounting options. I opened the package right away and popped in the memory card I had to provide. I downloaded the app, turned on the camera and synced them. Some updates were necessary and I had a bit of difficulty following the scrolling instructions on the small screen but I was able to set it up. Looking the camera over to familiarize myself with it, I was pleased to see lots of thoughtful features. The camera is tiny and fits easily in the palm of my hand. It has stabilization, which is good for me. My hands can get shaky when I try to take pictures. It also works well for action filming. The quality of the video is great, especially for something so small. According to the information, the camera resolution is significantly better than 4K. It sure looks great. The footage uploads to the cloud automatically when the camera is plugged in when it is connected to your home internet. I'm not sure I like that. I'm still learning how to use this device but I hope there is a way to get around that. After uploading to the cloud, your footage is sent back to yours phone as a reel. There are a lot of great features, including horizon lock. It is also waterproof.

Go pro is a very well know company but the put no time into there product, the go pro hero 11 mini is a very cheap quality for the price. it turns off on its own and is very hard to function the app doesnt even work. I tried recording my sons, baseball at bats but it doesn’t turn on from the app it sucks having to turn it on from the carmera its self. The app is to avoid that, and you cant take picturs wich is a down fall for it to be a camera.

GoPro official website states all generations HERO8 and newer work as a webcam, however it does not. After reading the whole page at the very bottom the HERO11 is listed as non compatible, even though at thd top is say it will work.

This is my fourth GoPro and they just keep getting better and better. I was surprised when I opened the box, the 11 Mini is much heavier than it appears and is well constructed with a large metal heat sync on the back. Initial setup was straight forward - download the GoPro app if you don’t already have it, and turn on the unit. It will automatically go into pairing mode and the app found it immediately. There was an update to it right off the bat which happened quickly. The Hero Mini comes with just two buttons, a Record button and a Status button which handle everything about the camera - from recording your video to adjusting the settings. There is also a small two-line display on the top of the unit but the small size makes it very difficult for me to read without a magnifying glass. I do like the quick start feature - simply press the shutter button on top and the camera powers on and begins shooting immediately and will time itself off after a few seconds when you press it again to stop recording. Operations There are two modes of operation for the Mini. Easy Control gives you three preset options - all having to do with resolution and battery life. Pro Controls gives you seven shooting options with three of those dealing with time lapse and three for playing with night time light tails. Unlike easy controls, each of the seven pro options is totally customizable. All the modes worked as expected and shot great video. The footage from this little device is stunning. The motion is buttery smooth, especially at 240 fps. Unlike other GoPro’s, to get a still, you have to export a frame from your video rather than just snapping the button. While a little more effort, the resulting photos are really nice. The GoPro Hero 11 Mini is a hot little camera - really. I’ve been able to get it to shut itself off due to heat just by recording indoors for 15-20 minutes. Although the instructions indicate this is a possibility, I thought it might have been due to an older SD card so I got a new one and had the same result. The back of the unit is mostly all heat sync but it seems without cooler air blowing over it during recording it can’t cool the unit quick enough which makes me wonder about using it outdoors during hot summer days. In colder outdoor temps i was able to get it to record till the battery ran out which amounted to about 50 minutes of video in two segments. Yes, the Mini splits larger videos into smaller segments which you can shut off in the settings. Speaking of battery life, the Mini 11 has an internal battery that is not user replaceable so know that if you are planning a long day on the slopes or sun, you will only get about 50 minutes of footage from a single charge and recharging takes a couple of hours. You can use the camera with an external power source but this kind of defeats the purpose of such a small portable device. GoPro has jumped on the subscription bandwagon and clearly wants you to be a part of it. The app shows it on start-up regularly. The yearly price for this is only $50 but the app does offer a 50% discount for the first year. Not only does the subscription allow you to upload footage to the cloud for easy retrieval but it unlocks some of the advanced editing features in the app. You can of course edit the footage in any video editor as well. There are also PC/Mac versions of software that also have a paid element to unlock advance options. The app also has a feature that matches music to your shots for great uploadable videos. Even with several limitations, I give the GoPro Hero 11 Mini five stars and recommend it to anyone looking for great videos from one of the smallest action cams around.
