At first I was skeptical about paying this much for a camera that I was only going to use on the weekends, but it definitely takes great pictures/video! The only thing I don't like about it, which really isn't a flaw on the camera's part, is the 2.5k and 4k resolution. And the only reason I say that is because my computer can't handle it! Kind of wish I would have saved $100 and went with silver and just bought a remote seperate, but then it probably would've only saved me a few bucks or so that would have ended up being spent on mounts anyways. Overall I am happy with my purchase. Great camera and easy to use!

This is an absolutely elite camera. Mount it anywhere, take it anywhere. Cars, windows, planes, dogs, people, they're all game. If you have a laptop with less space (for example, a 500gb laptop) you need to turn the settings down (720hd at 60 Fps on video) so you can edit and store your videos with no lagging. *ALSO* THE BACPAC DOES NOT FIT WITH THE HERO3+ STOCK SKELTON CASE. IF BUYING LCD TOUCH BACPAC YOU MUST PURCHASE WITH (SAME ORDER) THE CAMERA AND EMAIL IN A COPY AND GOPRO WILL SEND A REPLACEMENT CASE FOR FREE THAT WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. Otherwise tons of cheaper mounts and accessories, and plenty of shots at finding them on sale everywhere. I usually keep in mind what I plan on doing with it and check around at best buys and walmarts while traveling (quite frequently). I have purchased at least 3 mounts that are $20-50 for around $10 a piece, a very good deal. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! Totally worth the money for serious photographers and extreme sports enthusiasts.

Very excited about getting the go pro until I had to connect with my I-phone , and I-pad. This took hours.... So be prepared. Even noted issues on You Tube with set up and connectivity. Followed step-by-step directions. Once you finally get it connected.... Lots of ways to use the camera. I am undecided if I would recommend this camera. Need to see how versatile it will be.

We purchased this camera because of its legendary durability and awesome quality video for the various outdoor activities that we participate in, both professionally and recreationally, including boating, salt water fishing, diving, dirt biking, ATV riding, fire training drills and first responder calls. We needed a camera that would hold up, and the GoPro seemed the perfect candidate. While the camera has held up nicely and doesn't show a single day or wear, we've found some details that, while tedious, should not plague a $500 camera. First, you would think that a camera made for speed and rough use would manage a high shutter speed, however even on the best combination of settings we've found that we get some reoccurring motion blur. Its not every photo. Its not even 10%, but its there. Second, we've found that many (read: nearly all) stills or video taken indoors or in low light come out grainy, sometimes dropping from 4000 to <1080 in resolution. These specific poor results have been consistent, even in the hands of seasoned veteran photographers. Though the this particular model GoPro is not without its faults, the camera manages to live up to its hype in all other areas of performance. Outdoors, specifically on sunny days, the video quality is excellent. GoPro provides a nice line of mounting and safety accessories to really push these cameras to their limits. Stills taken in ideal lighting conditions are average, if not good. I cannot speak enough to the durability of the GoPro line. Their cameras and equipment are meant to take a beating, and they take it in stride. Overall, if the inexplicable, tedious quirks affecting these cameras explained above do not concern you or are in no way an impediment on your intended subject matter, there is no cause for concern. If you need a durable, reliable, mountable camera for mainly outdoor use that takes incredible video in nearly any conditions or environment, this is your ideal.

This thing is great shooting dirty videos. Videos in the mud, in the woods, in the ocean, in a river - you name it! No amount of dirtiness will keep this video camera away. Yowza! It's that good. That's right. It's that good. Now quit reading my review and just get a GoPro already. I'm not joking. Go buy now. Seriously. This isn't funny you guys, stop reading my stupid review and just buy the dang thang! Get it gurrrrrl! Treat yo self! Mmmmmmmmmmm. Why be an amateur videographer when you can GO PRO?!?! One of the best camera purchases I've made and I own lots of cameras. From DSLRs (Canon 5D Mark II to Nikon D3100), Micro 4/3s like Olympus OMD EM5, point and shoots like my Sony Bloggie. I've owned lots of cameras but this is one of my favs. You can take it anywhere and I mean anywhere you desire. Battery life is the only downfall. I bought a second backup battery but that's not enough, I'm debating on buying a third party just to last longer. It sucks that Go Pro did not include a separate charger/ quick charger, you have to plug in the camera to charge the battery, which is terrible. The WiFi app is about the coolest feature ever. It's so easy to use and so neat. It does drain the battery but who cares, just buy more batteries, the playback feature is just that great. Anyhow, I know you are hesitating now but trust me, just buy it and don't look back. It's Go Pro, it's tried and true. The WiFi app/ remote is so awesome. That feature alone is what sold me. Seriously, stop reading this and go to Best Buy and buy it.... NOW!!!!

Please take the time to read this review as I did a lot of research before making my purchase and I am glad that i waited to purchase the GoPro 3+ Black Edition. I absolutely LOVE the wifi feature because it allows you to download the GoPro app for your iPhone and control it remotely and have a live view LCD from your phone. The app does everything that the remote it comes with can, but it takes it a step further with being able to turn your phone into a live LCD of what you are recording. You can also play any of the movies that you have recorded as well by accessing them from that same app. The video quality is amazing. If you are thinking of purchasing one i would highly recommend spending the extra money and getting the black edition because it has the highest mega pixels. I would also recommend purchasing either and additional battery or the backpack battery option because the battery only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half depending on if you are using the wifi or not. Please note that if you are an Apple computer user, you will have to download a video converting app in order to be able to email/upload/or view the movies on any other type of video player such as Quicktime, or Apple TV, or to any iPhone or iPad because the movies are saved in .MP4 format. Its very easy and any video editing software can convert the video to a .MOV file. I used the iSkysoft Video Converting app from the app store and love it. When you purchase the memory card, i would also spend the extra $$ and buy either the 32 or 64 GB card that way you will only have to buy one as they hold a ton of video hours. I know you will enjoy this as much as i enjoy mine and i really hope my review was helpful in making your purchase.

For such a small camera the GoPro hero 3 + black edition has amazing video and photo quality. It's super compact and lightweight. Outdoor shots look fantastic. Perfect for action sports. Perfect for travel. I use this for concerts and kayaking. Very versatile. The low light video quality is leaps and bounds over the hero 2. Almost no noise in low light. Comes with a great waterproof case. The accessories are overpriced, but only buy what you will need. If you are an amateur photographer I would suggest the cheaper white or silver edition. 4k is not necessary unless you are making blockbusters. I only use 1080p max because anything more than that becomes too large for a memory card or too much to handle while editing. Most screens can't even distinguish anything higher than 1080p anyway.

Bought this camera before a trip to Hawaii, and it was worth every penny, at the time. Very shortly after I bought it, gopro announced their Hero4 line, so I did return it because the hero4 silver comes with an lcd screen and a couple better updates at the same price I paid. The price for hero3+ black has since dropped by $50. But were it not for the new hero4, id have surely kept the three. It really does seem to not only do everything, but it does it awesomely. We went cage diving with sharks in Hawaii and the under water footage and still shots are amazing. Even though you can pull stills from the video, I like that it gives you the option to take stills at certain intervals while filming. I tried it at night riding my bicycle around the city, not too shabby but not as stunning imagery at night. The time lapse works great, I tried it on a sunset at sunset beach. Next time, ill probably just record regular video and speed it up or slow it down with the editor, though. And coming from someone who has not ever once edited a movie or put one together, gopros studio software is easy to use. Negatives - short battery life. Def buy a second battery or two. I took a spare to hawaii and am darn glad I did. Next is the lack of touch/lcd screen, unless you buy one. Its def not a deal breaker though, because you can use the app to frame a shot. Also its such a wide angle lense, its hard to miss something if you just point the camera at it. All in all, i think this is a great camera, but unless the price drops even more, id just spend the extra 50 on a hero4 silver.

This is my first GoPro, but count me among the fans. The quality of the pictures and video were amazing. This camera lives up to the hype whether it's in the ocean, water park, or roller coaster the camera and accessories made capturing all the noteworthy moments of our vacation a breeze. We are able to relive all the exciting moments in HD and will cherish them forever. The compact size allows for amazing portability, but depending on whether or not you are using it with an accessory or in your hand, you may end up cover some of the lens due to the wide angles or large hands. This takes some getting use to, but it is worth it in the long run. The GoPro App worked well with the built in wifi when we did not have the LCD touch screen, but it needs some improvements.

After an infernally frustrating experience with two other "action" cams, I finally persuaded my wife to let me buy this device. The salesman was reluctant to recommend the GoPro for my use. I didn't listen to him and bought it anyhow. My need was for a reliable dash cam for my 'Vette, MKZ and motorcoach. This camera is lightweight, easy to attach to my rear view mirror using Velcro. In the coach I set it up using an iPhone tripod adapter. I use it naked (not me, the camera, without the waterproof case). The videos are superb, with many options for resolution. I am especially impressed with the WiFi connectivity to my iPhone and iPad. Never an issue with connection. Take it everywhere. I am disappointed that snow boarding and scuba lessons are not included in the price though. Every video in the demo seemed to indicate that users of this device would become proficient in these action sports.

The Hero Black 3+ is a great camera for anyone looking for an activity camera. I've used it for shooting film from my car, POV shots of my shooting in the IPSC competitions, and POV shots of me climbing. The low light function is really good, with a slight improvement over the white (I have the white edition as well). Less grain and more keen to capture details in the dark (with the white edition, you couldn't really see anything without light). The normal, daylight footage is amazing too. Very sharp at 1080p 48 fps wide angle. You can only shoot 48 fps at the wide angle setting too. However, if you're willing to shoot at a narrower frame, then you can shoot at 60 fps. There isn't any quality issue at 48 fps though. I haven't tried the 60 fps setting, but I'm quite happy with 48 fps with the wide angle setting. The only real issue is perhaps the battery life. I haven't ran the battery down to zero, but after 50 mins of continuous filming, it was down to one of three bars left. If anyone was looking to film more than, perhaps a hour and so, they would need either extra batteries or the battery back pack. Now, this is the camera alone. If you were to use the remote, I know the battery drains faster. And while filming the IPSC competition, I was using the GoPro app on my phone, and that was draining my camera's battery significantly (I don't remember how fast exactly, just know that after maybe 20 mins of filming, it was one bar left). Also, the camera doesn't film more than 15 min clips... you can film continuously, but the camera will automatically cut the film into segments of 15 mins each. I haven't tried joining the clips together yet.

This is my 2nd GoPro camera from them and I love it. I upgraded since optics were updated and it got smaller. I just love the quality of photos that are coming out of this. As with many photography equipment, the accessories build up can be expensive. You'll want different casings and different mounts for you to be able to use your camera to the fullest. This little guy isn't part of the cheap end of cameras either. You'll wind up spending a good amount of money on everything you "need" but as long as you can capture all the awesome moments, then it should be well worth it. The camera itself is well built and small. Battery life could be better but that's where backup batteries come in.

I bought the GoPro to take on my family's first snorkeling adventure. I was looking for something that could shoot some good video and was waterproof. This camera met every expectation I had. The video we shot with it looks clean and professional. With all of the accessories available, we have started using it to capture more of our "family time" so we can remember when our kids were young. I highly recommend this product.

This is an amazing camera. Absolutely incredible with the remote control, etc. It is waterproof and virtually indestructible.
