Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the Karma Quadcopter's ease of use, camera quality, and value for the price. However, concerns were raised regarding battery life, GPS signal reliability, and its susceptibility to wind. The lack of obstacle avoidance was also a frequently cited drawback. Improvements in these areas would enhance the overall user experience.

I have flown hobby grade drones in the past only to be disappointed with the experience. They were either difficult to fly, took mediocre videos, or cost way too much. The GoPro Karma hits the sweet spot. Quality of materials and durability are second to none. Very easy to fly, has excellent range, and takes fantastic video. There's eve a built-in tutorial on flying before you even lift off the ground. It's my opinion that there isn't another video drone on the market at this price point, or even more expensive one, that even comes close to offering the value of the GoPro Karma.

Admittedly, I knew that there were better aerial platforms available in the same price range. The drone does not have collision avoidance, there isn't a smartphone control option, and the return to home lands the drone automatically. But this platform has the best camera available in the price range. And the versatility of the Hero 5 is unmatched. Image quality is great. The gimbal and karma grip are really useful for shooting smooth, stabilized video, and the amount of accessories available are amazing. If you are buying a drone purely for aerial photography, DJI may honestly have better offerings. But if you're looking for a multi platform camera system, the Karma wins hands down.

This has to be the best drone for the money!!! The only down side is that you dont get the obstacle avoidance system that Dji has. But you do get a HERO5, Karma grip, and the Karma drone. Plus it all comes in a nicely built backpack. So this isnt just a flight system. I would definetly purchase again!!!

Overall this is solid gear. Be aware that if you have Google WiFi, this will not connect to your network for setup. (A quick web search and call to customer support confirmed the issue.) Otherwise, I’m pretty happy with the kit. It is a lot of gear for the price, compared to other brands.

This was my very first drone and I must say it was very easy to set up and start flying right out of the box. It is very user friendly and easy to operate. My 11 year was flying it better than me. This is by far not the most sophisticated drone on the market like the Mavic Pro but this is perfect for beginners who want to take capturing their memories on video to another level and at this price point I think you are getting a great deal considering if you bought all the pieces separately it would cost substantially more. I highly recommend buying an extra battery or two because the flight time on this drone is not long at all and having extra batteries will increase your flight time especially if you are on vacation and there is no where to charge the battery. Other than that, I highly recommend this drone.

I am totally satisfied with my GoPro Karma purchase. I'm a first time flyer and the functions to fly are so simple to use. The picture and video quality are amazing and the cost point was perfect. Not only do you get a drone but you get a GoPro black with gimble. I did have to return it due to my mode button not working on the drone control but was able to get a brand no replacement same day. As always Best Buy service was unmatched.

This is my 3rd drone and I'm pretty experienced with flying and filming I'll keep it short and simple. If you film yourself more than anything else or in the woods and under tree canopies yes the dji has accident avoidance sensors to prevent you from crashing and a follow mode that makes that a lot easier. If you don't......then This is the easiest drone to fly. Ever. The GoPro Hero5 is a superior camera to any other consumer mounted drone camera. Period. Fork up the extra 300 and get the package that comes with the Karma grip, especially if you film for a living I've used this at a red carpet event, a quincenera, and a wedding and it takes great footage that is easy to color match with a GH5 or Sony or whatever you film with. I had a DJI phantom 3 that this replaced and I like it better, had a yuneec q500 4k and while I loved the controller of that drone the camera and grip make the GoPro kit a million times better. If your getting a drone for doing tricks or competitive flying this isn't your drone. If you need something for great stills or film this is your drone.

I recently bought the gopro karma drone and it is absolutely amazing. It is easy to fly and has a great camera. Karma makes flyong fun and hastle free. The touch screen remote is great and easy to use. It reminds me of my younger days when I had a gameboy. I love flying my drone, but the best part is when I'm not flying I can still take the camera on the go. The hero 5 is awesome. It has voice control, takes 4k videos, and has a 12 mp camera. I recommend this drone to anyone looking to spend money on a drone or gopro hero 5. The bundle is totally worth it. The only thing better than taking pics with your hero 5, is taking them from the sky.

It's an awesome to have a drone packaged so well you can use the camera off the drone in the water or as a dash cam as I do. But my drone crashed right after I flew it the first time my fault I know. But some thing that costs over 1000 $ you would expect the things not to break easily I have go pro care which will replace the drone but it's a hassle to get in touch with them and my replacement parts haven't arrived yet over a month now. Read the terms well when you purchase the GoPro care they will say some parts damaged to the drone is not covered and what not they will make excuses. They gave in after multiple requests but you should read the fine print well

    Extremely flexible and awesome video

Here is my experience having owned this while now with hundreds of flights. Before I start, I received the Hero 3+ as a gift years ago. At the time I thought it was that perfect present since it was a niche/cool thing in action cam I would have never bought myself, but shockingly this is now my primary video camera above my Sony Video Cam and 7D. At $1100 for the Karma, this is a very good deal and affords flexibility beyond the other drones you see on the shelf at Best Buy. The Hero5 with image stabilization (which is one of the best action cameras out there) is removable, so you are not limited to aerial video unlike DJI, but also add composition on land, water, even underwater to complete your video options. There is also a removable gimbal which when attached to the included Karma Grip, affords amazing image stabilization keeping you composition perfectly level with no bumps, even if you are running, on a bike whatever. The gimbal is the single piece of equipment that will provide the most dramatic change to your video, giving you Hollywood like cinematic shots on and off the drone. Putting a cost to this, you have a Hero 5 for $400, a gimbal for $300, which puts the drone cost with case at $400. It is not just this flexibility, but also the total cost that should be considered when comparing drones as most comparisons to the Karma are not apples to apples. How can it be, they are limited in capturing video in the air, with less quality optics than the Hero5... Regardless, for $400, this Karma will fly circles around any other drone even at twice the cost. To introduce a Mavic Pro into a true comparison would mean $1900 for the extra equipment already included in the Karma (I also added a 2nd Micro SD since you would not use the same one for both). BTW, if you already have a GoPro, even better as you have massive mounting options already. Speaking to my experience thus far, this drone has been pretty incredible. It is very easy to fly, so much so that my 10 year old takes over the reins when I need to be in the shot be it driving the boat, etc. It is very stable, even having a learning mode until you get acclimated with the sticks. It is more than impressive in the wind it handles; I would say I have flown it in 30MPH winds and it still provided very good video. This was testing, which BTW I recommend as well. If you view YouTube, you will see many crashes, even people blaming the Karma, but looking at the video's, 9 out of 10 are user error, irresponsibility or just not knowing the limits or how to fly; often many mistakes at once. So, they fly it behind a building or mountain, which you should not do and lose sight of the drone, the drone loses connection and when it attempts to return, it crashes because the pilot did not set a return flight, or even know what it was. Again, hundreds of flights here and I have had no issues, have not crashed it, or even been close once. Like a car, you pay attention, and you don't need a sensor to apply the brakes for you... Actual Video of the Karma is better than the Mavic and has more flexibility in composition in the air, not just on the ground. The point; this drone will take equal and better video than the Mavic will, and that is ultimately what it is for. I recommend that everyone research prior to buying any drone and be realistic in what you want, vs. options. The Karma does not have sensors, so there is no true "autonomous" flight, to which another drone, the Mavic Pro does have. These sensors afford the Mavic the ability to work with GPS to provide perfect hovering and obstacle avoidance. If you research, you find these sensor do not always work and will not avoid items like trees, bushes, power lines/poles, etc. To my point of testing, I take this to a very large open desert area to practice not just the auto path features, but also what could happen in a bad situation. I tested the loss of controller connection to the drone by powering it off while the drone was in flight. I also ignored the warnings and allowed the batter to drain where the drone forced an automatic return. Return to launch and return to you were tested and it always acted as designed bring it a few feet to my landing site. Keep in mind that even in these automatic return modes, you can take over control to get it on that pie plate if need be. I also tested distance; again to 2500' at a max of 400' high. Not once has the controller lost connectivity and doing this gave me immense confidence in the drone. I also continue to test autopaths and different manual composition, so just like the safety aspect, I know what to expect and won't freak out, but equally as important to ensure when I really want video, I know what to do and am quite efficient than just flying around and wasting battery. BTW, like any camera or electronic device, buy a backup battery. It will also help promote safe flying where you don't put yourself in the position of a drained battery after you have already ignored warnings. Back to research. There are drones that claim farther limits than the Karma, however the FAA restrictions affords a 400' ceiling, and line of sight. In distance, that translates to 3000' max since the drone is a black dot. This distance is well within the Karma's capability, but some like the spec of a 3 mile drone. BTW, you also have to register this drone with the FAA, so it's best to research your limitations there as well before you buy (Part 107).

I spent a lot of time researching the Karma Drone before making this purchase. I have not been disappointed AT ALL. The ease of learning to fly it and particularly its responsiveness to the controller is great. The pictures and video from the GoPro Hero 5 Black that came with it are STUNNING. I look forward to coming home on the weekends and getting my Karma into the air. The more I use it, the easier it is to fly. Can't wait to get it to the beach to use while my wife paddle boards and is visited by the dolphins.

I read a number of reviews of the GoPro Karma kit and to be honest, was a little nervous after reading about them losing power or controller connection and either falling out of the sky or crashing. I also read some very good reviews that said as long as you update the software and follow good flying practices that the Karma is a great buy for the money. In my brief experience so far, I have to agree with the good reviews. I have only flown it twice so far, but I have had no issues and the drone flys quite easily and stable compared to my first gen DJI Phantom. The controls are nice and controller comfortable. Pretty easy to get everything set up and ready to fly. I purchased an extra battery and some spare props as well. I have not used the Karma grip much yet, but it seems like it will come in very handy for hand held filming or mounting. It was this or the new DJI and I decided on this package as I think you get a well rounded filming package with the new Hero 5, the Karma Drone and grip, controller and backpack to carry the whole kit around.

I started out simply looking for a new Go Pro camera, and then discovered the Karma Stabilizer, which I decided that I wanted, and that was more than halfway to the full drone kit. I've flown the quad-copter a few times and I have found it to be easy to fly. It goes where I want in a predictable manner, and even came back to me and landed when the battery was low. The stabilized movies are superb. It is easy to put it in the correct spot to get a good shot. I found the controller easy to understand and use, and the displayed picture of what the camera sees is quite helpful. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

First let me say that before you buy this that you check and follow the rules of flying drones. Where I live I can not use the drone as I am within 5 miles of an airport so I fly it elsewhere where it's allowed. Instructions are easy to follow, charging is simple, the karma grip is fun to use even when you're not flying the drone, and as long as you take it easy flying the drone is fun. You can capture some really nice footage while flying and with the controller you can see what the GoPro sees while flying and recording as well as control the angle of the camera.
