Govee Hexa Wall Light Panels were easy to install and place up on the wall for an intricate design pattern. The hexagons look beautiful placed on the wall and when the lights turn on it gives it a nice RGB pop for whatever room in the house. Long story short; the wall panels are gorgeous and wish I had more to place on the wall. These are bold modular color panels that can showcase whatever room it’s in with RGB. The colors are bright enough once they are all seven combined.
Setting up the wall light depends on you as it could take a long time if you don’t know what pattern or design you would like. They give you fake paper panels to place on the wall so you can get down the design before you stick them up. Connecting hexa lights was easy and as easy as the other competition; you pretty much connect the panels. I do have other Govee products that can connect to these lights via the “home” app and they work flawlessly in tandem. Once connected with Wifi I was able to use all of the features provided. The lights have voice assistance with Hey Google and Amazon’s Alexa.
There are millions upon millions of colors that your disposal to customize and get right for your setup. For example, if I wanted to Play Cyberpunk 2077 and wanted the theme of the room to fit, I can switch to the app profile for the color change I created. Instantly changing colors on the fly on the app. Everything is in the app to control the Govee hexa lights. From color-shifting, fading, speed of lights, dim lights, and Music Sync, to tons of customization. There is also colors and images based on shared by Govee. Getting the right mood is all on you. The lights also can do the “Rainbow Chase” effect so many other RGB lights struggle to produce. The App is the powerhouse of these lights and it works smoothly.
I have no issues with this product, the problem comes with you essentially taking the time and placing them on the wall. The lights for a gaming setup would be beautiful to look at every time you walk into a room but definitely need more Hexa lights to pop the room. 7 panels are good but not enough IMO to get the whole room going. It’s a sight to behold and Govee makes fantastic light products. One of the better brands that can put your RGB dreams together. I love this product and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys these lights.

Great lights for some, but not for everyone

These lights look like they'd be great for a lot of people. But unfortunately, they failed to really fit my needs.
Let me start by saying what I did like about these lights.
The light panels are a good size, and they seem very well constructed. The panels are thin and extremely bright. As a lightsource, I'd rate these 10 out of 10.
The app seems fairly intuitive, and I really appreciate all of the various options for lighting effects.
Now, what I didn't like about these lights, and the reason that they didn't work for my needs . . .
In order to install these lights, you need to watch an installation video. No, these are not wired directly into your home, but there is still a fairly involved video explaining how to setup these lights.
Each individual light panel is adhered to your wall using a 3M style adhesive.
This caught me by surprise. I'd assumed that the lights connected to each other somehow, and I figured that there would be multiple options for mounting these to a wall as a whole (i.e. screw brackets).
The problems with having adhesive on the back of each individual panel are that:
A. Your wall must be fairly smooth for the adhesive to bond.
B. Once you've decided on a pattern and placement, you're committed to it. You won't be able to reposition or experiment with different layouts.
To their credit, the adhesive is supposed to remove cleanly. You're on your own for figuring out how to get the panels back up after removing them though.
In my case, most of my walls are heavily textured. I wasn't able to use these in the room that I'd initially intended.
This was highly disappointing.
Personally, I also thought that the installation was a little too involved for something that's basically a lamp. A very thin, ultra modern, and highly customizable lamp, . . . but a lamp all the same.
I can totally see this being a great light feature for a lot of people. If you have smooth walls, and you're really sold on a particular design and placement, then these will probably be perfect for you.
In my case, I regret having gotten these as they really don't work for my needs.

Lights keep falling off the wall

I bought these lights and they were great for the 1st few days, but then they just fall off the wall. The adhesives are not great. We followed instructions and cleaned the wall first and held it on for as long as the directions said, but they do not stick. We tried to purchase Command adhesive strips, but since the light fell already, all the ribbon cables are bent. Very cheaply made for the price. Never again will I buy Govee.

A customizable work of ART!

The artist in your family is going to love the Govee Hexa wall light! This is the first app-controlled RGB LED style lamp or lighting that I’ve owned, and I have to say it’s way more fun than I was expecting! We wanted a light in the dark corner of our living room and with the Govee Hexa we got a fully customizable, interactive piece of art!
The light panels came nicely packaged in a small box with everything you need to get set up. Included with the panels are the linking cables, adhesive tape with 2 extra pieces, two cords, one for power and one for the control box, a small level and a tool to help line the panels up with each other.
Installation was a little more complicated than just hanging the panels, luckily Govee provides a very helpful tutorial video that walks you through every step in detail. However, even with the great video and instructions, I ended up having to remove the first two panels I installed, and used the two extra pieces of mounting tape that were included. Govee should include more than just two extra pieces, IMO, two is not enough. People will make mistakes and/or want to move the panels. Govee should include enough extra pieces to move all panels at least once. I suggest a full extra set, if not two. I would gladly pay an extra dollar for that.
The reason I had to move my first two panels is because I didn’t get them level. Although there is a level included, the panels have some give after being stuck on the wall, they can move a bit and fall out of level very easily. This happened to me and I didn’t notice until putting up the third panel. It was easily fixed though, and just added a few extra minutes to the installation. The tool they included to help line up the panels was mostly useless for me. It gets stuck on the panels and can be hard to pull off, without moving the panels, thus knocking it out of alignment.
All-in-all, installation, though a little more complicated than I expected, was completed in about 20 minutes. You have to use the app when installing the panels. You can choose from a preset layout, or input a custom design. Once you decide on the layout, the app guides you and lets you know how to connect the panels with the linking cables. Each panel has multiple ports on the back, and it’s important to pay attention to ensure you are connecting the correct cables to the correct ports.
Once you get the panels all set up, using the app, you are ready to play! There is a bit of a learning curve to using the app, but it’s fairly intuitive and with some time, most people should be able to figure it out pretty easily. The app has tons of preset options available along with a fully customizable DIY section. You can spend hours playing around with custom colors, patterns and designs. Once you create something you like, you can name it, save it and even take a picture for future reference when selecting your custom designs.
One last thing to mention is that the light can be very bright if you want. You can adjust the brightness all the way from 0% to 100%, with 100% being bright enough to be seen on a sunny day with the windows open! During the evening I like to turn it down to about 15-20%, otherwise it can be blinding in a dark room.
I love this new light and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to add some color and style to their home! You will not be disappointed!

Groovy Govee

The Govee Hexagon Light Panels are such a unique and welcomed addition to the entertainment area of my house. The panels came in a pack of 7 hexagons and were straight forward and easy to set up. The box itself is thankfully small which makes storing it for safekeeping for my next move a no brainer. The power cord for the panels is discreet and compact – making it easy to hide once the panels are hung to your liking. There is no wireless option for this product at this time, but I don’t mind.
There were no additional tools needed during installation, however, I do wish that Govee included an extra set of adhesive backings. It came with a couple extra, but I will need to purchase more whenever I move into my next home or want to change the design. Furthermore, if you get the panels stuck to the wall and the shape doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, you would have to purchase enough additional adhesive backings / command strips to re-apply all 7 panels.
I appreciate the in-app tutorial that walks the user through installation of each panel depending on the overall shape you select. It was easy to follow the tutorials and the linking cables were easy to assemble. I also enjoy the ease of the Govee Home App which allows the user to control the design, effects, and colors directly from their phone. It ultimately connects through wifi, so you may turn on/off the design or change it from not at home which is a great touch.
Once set up, the Govee app provides a beautiful variety of color settings and moods for your hexagon panels. I love the preset light options and how the lights bring new dimension to my room. The fluorescent glow of the panels provides a surprising amount of light to enhance your experience. The music mode also allows the user to sync their currently playing music or game to the lights. My wife and I have been enjoying using the lights in the evening to set an ambient and relaxing mood in our home.

Versatile, bright panels; setup is a challenge

If dancing multicolor light panels on your walls are your idea of the latest and greatest in interior decorating, Govee has you covered with this 7-piece Glide Hexa Light Panel kit.
Well, assuming you can figure out how to put it together. That's not a challenge for the faint-hearted or techncially challenged. But if you get past that step, you are likely to be pretty pleased with all that these panels can do.Which is a lot.
They are pre-programmed to crank out all kinds of animated color combinations, in every color shade you can imagine. The colors can flow on their own, dance to your favorite music or sit quiety and do nothing at all. There is even an option to turn them into a giant, non-dancing and very dim nightlight
The Glide Hexa is infinitely customizable, with app controls that not only allow you to change modes and colors but animation speed and light intensity. (They are extremely bright at full brightness) You can even turn then on and off and adjust the mode by voice, with both Alexa and Google Assistant supported.
And if you are not happy with large selection of preprogrammed dancing light modes, you can can create own, again using the app. If you have the technical skills and the patience.
You are going to have that app at your disposal from the get go because you can't assemble and set up these light panels without it. And like every other product you buy these days, it seems, Govee forces you to first register and set up yet another account with yet another name and passwoord, since the security of your dancing lights is very important.
Now about that whole setup thing. I have tried several similar products and this is unquestionably the worst in terms of setup design and complexity. Each panel has a ring of numbered sockets which must be connected to the next panel using short flat wiring harnesses that must be attached the exact socket numbers that correspond to the the design you are attempting to create.
The app provides step by step instructions -- after you sift through the hundreds of different product this company makes -- but to call them confusing would be charitable. There are lots of ways this can go wrong, not the least concerns the badly designed wiring harnesses that connect the panels to each other. Each end is different, and can only go in one way, so you have to keep track of that. Unfortunately they can easily be flipped upside down, which will ensure the lights DO NOT work because the copper connector is facing the wrong way. And of course each panel MUST be plugged into a specific socket in a specific order that matches the design you selected or it will not work.
This is all WAAAAY too complicated for the average consumer, who can barely figure out how to replace the batteries in a TV remote.
Some competing panels simply snap together. In any order you want. With no wires or numbered sockets. Very easy and simple. But to be fair, they do cost a lot more.
Another down side to these light panels is they are designed to be stuck directly onto the wall (assuming it is a smooth, untextured surface) using double sided tape. They can be removed by pulling "Command" type tabs on the tape but a lot people are not going to be comfortable with this stick-on approach for fear of damaging their walls. I generally stick them to a thin wood panel instead and then hang that on the wall like a picture. But that has a downside too, since the fully assembled panel can be heavy and bulky, depending on the design you choose.
There is also the matter of the cord that hangs down from the panels, which tends to be unsightly. The cord contains a large integrated on/off control and terminates in a rather large power brick, which is needed to power all the lights inside the hex panels.
And let's face it, these white plastic hexagons are not much to look at when they are not powered up. So that is something else to consider in terms of where you put them.
Stil, anyone interesting in having dancing multicolor lights on their walls are not likely to be deterred by such aesthetic issues. They want color and motion and there is no doubt the Govee Glide Hexa panels delievers that in spades. And for a lot less money than some competing wall mount panels.
If you can figure out setup, you are likely to be very happy with the Govee Glide Hexa.

Fun panels with great lighting

Govee's Hexa lights are no unique idea. These sort of hexagon shaped lights have been around for a bit, but Govee's execution is top notch and sets them apart from the normal things you'll find on amazon. Are they worth the price of entry?
First of all, I'm not going to tell you they're worth the price immediately. Accent lights like this need to fit your decor and are extremely modern. My office is a tech wonderland, so they fit right in, but one would not want to mix art deco styling with these for instance. That said, they provide a very interesting piece of lighting for rooms. The integrated controller really sets them apart, with native app integration, Alexa and Google Assistant support, there's something for everyone.
Setup and installation is pretty straight forward. The app guides you through setup, connecting, and arrangement. Each tile is affixed with multiple output ports. Essentially you design a layout in the app, and it will tell you exactly what port to plug cables into one at a time. This way you can arrange them as you peel the adhesive off. It's kind of fun to design different layouts. Once you have them installed that's when the fun begins.
The controller is truly where Govee has knocked this out of the park, and where it's value comes from.
Essentially you can find tile style lights like this for very affordable prices online, but they're mostly remote controlled. The built in controller on the Govee's not only is app controlled, but has a decent integration with Alexa. Being able to set these lights in scenes, change modes, dim/brighten and set colors on demand with voice is a game changer compared to the cheaper competition. Also, the music mode is solid with excellent effects and sensitivity adjustments. It's not often I find so many lighting features in an app so well executed. I'm quite impressed.
Beyond that, the app also allows the community to expose programs, so there's a lot of flexibility. I'm a bit overwhelmed, as there's almost a social network built into the app, but it's nice to be able to springboard off of other people's ideas.
Govee has produced an excellent set of lights here to bring some fun to any room with a modern vibe. I really like these, and I think they'll stay in my house for a very long time.

Quality AND Dazzle

The long list of features sells this product, but you probably have one question, does the quality meet the high standards required to make it work? Yes.
Pros-
1) Solid Construction.
2) Dim to Bright multi hue lighting on demand.
3) Each panel can show 6 different colors at once.
4) Offset from the wall creating a cool ‘halo floating effect.’
5) Amazing App for set up and control.
6) Easy to use animation presets and music synchronizing, as well as DIY.
7) Easy to install with a helpful guide tool.
8) Alexa and Google control.
9) Easy to connect to the wider Govee ecosystem for coordinated light shows.
10)Easy to remove from the wall with a built in tab.
Cons-
1) The tape mounting system is adequate for smooth walls, but doesn’t work well on textured walls. Add extra tape.
2) No official store item to purchase additional mounting tapes, but there are reports if you ask customer service they will provide some in case you want to relocate the tiles.
Are you a budding artist or interior decorator who thinks in bright technicolor hexagons? Than the Govee are for you. Well made, flexible app with helpful presets, and with a trademark halo effect. Sure they are more expensive then the knock offs, but you wont be sorry after months of ownership. Take care in mounting them on the wall, and odds are you will buy more. You can only physically link up to 20, but you can coordinate different sets through the app.

Party Lights But Even Better Gaming Lights!

These are really nice. Every bit as good as the competing brand. They are very bright and add a party vibe to any room. They can respond to music and change color to match any environment. It was a bit backwards as the quick start guide had me undo my initial installation. Not a big deal really. I was up and running in 10 minutes. The lights stick on the wall with double-sided tape and click into their mount. The app is very functional even if the UI is a little dated in my opinion. It lacks the polish of other professional light apps. I would eventually love to see integration to the IFTTT app. I could see running a macro to activate the lights when your doorbell rings or when you get an alert on your home surveillance cameras. You can use these behind a gaming monitor or your TV to sync the sound of your TV to make the lights respond. The gaming monitor is the better use in my opinion. Running these lights behind my gaming rig is a pretty entertaining experience. Every explosion is accented with rapid blinking and color changes. I actually highly recommend these for gaming.

The Govee Glide HexaLight Panels were difficult for me to review because they are really functional artwork. They provide light to an area yet they can be creatively arranged and controlled to become a work of art. They provide vibrant colors and include a lot of customization within the included Android or IOS app. I used the Android app which apparently provides more options.
The package consists of 7 hexagonal lights/panels each which is connected in a pattern with linking cables. Prior to installation, you may want to prepare your wall surface since each panel will be taped to the wall. Additional panels can be purchased and connected to the existing panels. Setup is fairly straightforward as you simply follow the instructions and video in the app. The Android app itself is very complete including changes in color, animation, timer settings, and music synching. Alexa and Google integration is provided.
In summary, I highly recommend the Govee Glide HexaLight Panels as an effective was of adding both lighting and ambience to any area.

Surprisingly Bright and Vibrant

Quality:
Overall the design of the light panels seems quite sturdy and well thought out. The light emitted by the multicolored LEDs is fairly bright and produce a multitude of vibrant colors. The connectors however, could use a bit more development. Essentially they are thin metal strips secured to a small piece of PCB. The wire is extremely stiff and easily deformed. My suggestion is to plan your design and stick with it as these will eventually break, especially with repeated design changes.
Setup:
Setup was very simple and straight forward. I used an Android phone to do my setup, so I really can't comment on the setup using an iPhone. Make sure to download and install the app prior to supplying power to the panels. Follow the prompts and you shouldn't have any problems.
During setup you will be prompted to connect each panel individually to test functionality. Use a bit of caution and try not to fully insert the connector. It can be difficult to remove once its fully inserted. I used an
Once setup is complete you will be instructed to layout a design. Do this before connecting the panels to one another. The app will walk you through connecting each panel. Setup, testing, and mounting took about 20 minutes. All in all a very simple and straight forward process.
Overall impression:
Simple setup and install process. Decent build quality with some improvements needed to the connecting wire. Bright, vibrant multicolor LEDs offer an unlimited range of color options.
The Android app is intuitive and well designed. There are a few advanced features in the app that allow you to sync multiple Govee products. I didn't test this functionality, but based on the performance of the other features I suspect it works fairly well.
The Govee - Hexa Wall Light Panels are designed to be used as accent lighting in game room, but could easily fit in other areas of your home.

Govee’s Hexa light panels are really solid - the colors, brightness, ability to cross-connect and integrate with other Govee devices make these panels a welcome addition to any home or office atmospheric lighting system.
The pre-designed patterns available are great and have a wider assortment than the NanoLeaf panels. There’s a built-in social network/demo system where you can share user-created patterns as well, which is pretty neat. The integration with entertainment systems seems to be solid as well, but my primary use is to create background lighting for a digital web stream studio - and for this purpose, these truly excel.
You can create shapes, sure, but the ability to focus light utilizing the in-box attachments means that with the purchase of ONE system, you can effectively light your space for web streaming in an assortment of complimentary colors.
Installation is fast - from unboxing to camera ready within 15 minutes, depending on the complexity of your display, and then programming is similarly fast - with the ability to tap and go… it’s not as smooth on that front as NanoLeaf or Hue, BUT there’s a LOT MORE CONTROL over individual elements and how they animate (or not).
All in all: I’m very pleased with the performance, color quality and selection, ease of installation and length of cords, and brightness that each Govee panel puts out. The only thing missing (and the reason it’s 4 out of 5 instead of 5 stars) is Apple HomeKit integration. It means there’s like 3 extra steps I have to take to turn these on. For smart colorful lights like this, smart device integration across the board is a must-have. Otherwise, these are really slick!

These things are pretty amazing! I love the detail & gradient of colors that I could get with the various built-in settings/scenes in the app and how, by telling it the orientation & design I've set up, it knows where "center" is, up, down, etc.; really makes for an immersive experience!
The app is pretty intuitive and comes with a ton of "suggested" configurations + "scenes" (colors and movement of the lights). The one thing I noticed, however, when setting it up was that - while you physically can connect two panels into one - the scenes and colors don't behave as expected; it seems whatever color comes "out" of the common panel is displayed on *both* of the connected ones. For example, if you connect panels B & C into A, then tell A it is blue but want B to be white and C to be red, you can't do it; B & C will end up either both red or both white. It's a minor thing, but it may affect somebody's decision to buy if you already have a design in mind.
I liked the app's "walkthrough" of how to set up & connect the panels after designing the layout in the app; makes it very easy to get up and running. For my desired application it would've been nice if the outlet cord was a bit longer, but it's not a show-stopper for this purchase.
