I had Heavy Metal (81) in every format available since vhs and it never looked or sounded better,it's an absolute classic,a must watch for anyone who likes old school underground animation, unfortunately I can't say the same about Heavy Metal 2000,just skip this one!

A classic movie that features great music and fantastic animation (for its era). Mind you, if you're just a modern anime fan who doesn't even enjoy older anime, then the style of this movie won't win you over. But if you're open minded and want to see weird stories and adult themes, then this won't disappoint.

Love every minute. This was a futuristic phenomenon. The music, the animation, the story are high quality. The 4K restoration is masterful. Only wish the sequel was on a 4K blu-ray too

This 4k of this movie really rocks. The sound and video really is good.

1981 R-rated animated anthology movie set to modern rock music. First, the Dolby Atmos track on this new 4K disc rocks! The movie probably looks better now than it did when it was first released in theaters. A new blu-ray copy of Heavy Metal 2000 was included as an extra with the Heavy metal 4K disc. I only saw Heavy Metal 2000 once when it first came out and had a very low opinion of the movie. I wasn't exactly looking forward to seeing it again. As I recall it was nothing more than an extended version of the last segment of the first movie. To my very pleasant surprise it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered, nor was it simply a rehash of the first movie's last segment.

Heavy Metal came on my radar from seeing it on a Watchmojo countdown or something. When I finally bought the film on blu-ray from Bestbuy years ago I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like I got my money’s worth that’s always a good thing when you purchase something. I went on a few times to rewatch it till it sat on my blu-ray stand for years till I purchased the Heavy Metal 4K blu-ray steelbook. I didn’t enjoy as much as the 1st few times I watched the film but enjoyed it none the less. I never saw Heavy Metal 2000 till I bought this this steelbook blu-ray I see some people don’t like it but I enjoyed it very much. I hate Sony made people rebuy Heavy Metal if your like me and already own the blu-ray. I just bought it for the digital copies and Heavy Metal 2000. I can see Sony down the line releasing Heavy Metal 2000 separately on blu-ray. I like anthology films and shows but I prefer stand alone stories when it works or calls for it that’s fine. If you like Heavy Metal you should watch Love, Death, & Robots on Netflix it was supposed to be a new Heavy Metal but something happened and it became its own thing.

Havent watched it in 4k yet but love the steel book design and grateful that i was able to get it.

Heavy Metal is exactly that, Heavy Metal. The film exudes excess, sweat, crudeness, action, fantasy, gore, etc through its very loosely connected vignettes with each chapter containing a different art style. It's not an elegant film, in fact the animation may be considered ugly by some, but that's where its beauty comes from. Also included was Heavy Metal 2000, a sequel of sorts that throws away the vignette styling of the first and has a more linear storyline. But in doing so it loses its identity and becomes a very run of the mill movie. It's nice to see that this movie continued and morphed into Death Love and Robots, because while there isn't a direct stylistic lineage, the core concept of artistic freedom/playfulness from one story to the next is very much present.

Bought Heavy Metal on Bluray years ago, always hoped for Heavy Metal 2000 on Bluray and it just never happened. I was happy to find out that this comes with Heavy Metal 2000 on Bluray (finally!). I didn't even know because it doesn't show it anywhere except in one of the product descriptions that I didn't even look at when ordering. Very well worth the price for the 4K copy of the first movie to have the Bluray copy of 2000!

This movie looks amazing on 4k. The studios did a very good job at cleaning up the movie. The soundtrack was also remastered in Dolby Atmos and having a full classic rock soundtrack with all the bands makes this movie sound amazing on a home theater setup. If your a fan of this cult classic movie don't hesitate to pick this one up and add it to your collection while you can with this very nice steel book case also.

Beautiful steelbook - and comes with the first-time bluray release of Heavy Metal 2000. The original Heavy Metal is one of the first animated films that presented a sci-fi world with adult themes. The animation isn't great, but if you're interested in this, that's not the real draw. The draw is the strange story, the 80s rock n'roll vibe, and the excellent soundtrack.

What a fantastic movie, and now available in a 4k steelbook package. The 4k steelbook is the best release of Heavy Metal that has ever been made. Heavy Metal is a movie that I have seen maybe more than all other movies combined. I loved this movie when it first came out and I still love this movie. And now this set also includes Heavy Metal 2000 on blu-ray for the first time.

Heavy Metal has never looked or sounded better. This is the definitive release. The quality meets or exceeds the limitations of the source material. It shows every small detail including the vary rough around the edges and somewhat low budget animation. The movie is an early great achievement in animation of adults. It's definitely not for children.

I originally seen Heavy Metal in theatres during a midnight showing! (Something that does not happen anymore) as a kid and now to own this movie which I consider one of the greatest 80's early animation movies ever, this is a gem and to now own it on 4K I could not wait. Thanks go out to Best Buy for carrying this incredible masterpiece of animation.

Whether you pick up this steelbook or the standard edition that is coming later this year, Heavy Metal in 4K is a fantastic upgrade of the '80s cult classic. For me, it rivaled the theatrical screening experience and the surround sound mix was fantastic even without an Atmos setup.

Amazing. Great steel book cover. The fact that it comes with Heavy Metal 2000 on blu-ray, which looks good, it's not too bad even for just one story, with some fun extras is a nice touch. Can I really see the touch ups and hear the soundtrack adjustments? I think so. Just order the thing.
