I’ve resisted getting a robotic vacuum for some time, but when I saw that Hoover had entered the market , I had to know more. This little guy cleans my entire apartment floor like a champ. Super easy to set up and clean.

I switched to the Rogue from the iRobot series, hoping that the mapping feature and virtual walls would make for a better functioning robot. For the first month it seemed to do pretty good cleaning the house, I had a little trouble getting it to map out the house and connect to the app but eventually got it working, once it worked I found it got stuck occasionally which was fine, just bring it back to the base and try again another day. But now it got to the point that it gets stuck pretty much every single time, the recon feature can be run 100 times and the map never gets saved, the app no longer lets you log in at all and seems to be the main problem to using the robot for anything. VERY DISAPPOINTED

This vacuum is a life saver!! I have a dog that sheds all the time. Turn this on and let it go! Gets the hair up and no more worries! I haven't mapped it out yet but plan on it shortly. I can vacuum everyday now and not break my back! Love it!

This vacuum is awesome! The fact it gets smarter as it learns your house layout is great. This robot makes daily vacuuming behind my children obsolete now!

I’ve had a few challenges in getting my Rogue setup and communicating with the app but worked thru all of that. The look of the product is very nice and it cleans, cleans, cleans over multiple surfaces (wood, carpet, tile) without any hesitation or problem! One issue I’m still trying to figure out is it does not always recognize doorways as an entry to another room so it skips that part of the cleaning cycle. Some of this is quite possibly user error but I think there are updates that could be made to help the “less-techy” consumer get things running a bit easier. Overall i am very happy with the performance and cleaning quality of my Rogue and would recommend it to friends.

Though we sweep and vacuum our home weekly, we were shocked to see how much we miss. Rouge opened our eyes to a better way. Still have a few syncing kinks but does a great job!

Robot will adapt to the various surroundings and does return home when battery is low. My only issue is that it tends to get caught up on tasseled rugs.

Hard to get working with wi-fi, but then fine.

Looks great. nice size, easy to store, and a good conversation piece, but very hard to get working with wi-fi. Eventurally, with lots of help, it is now fine. The software was not ready for release when I got it. Models now may not have the problem. It took me some time to learn how to work the cleaner, but I like how it mostly now can work on its own. I especially like how it recharges with no problems and without help. In the end, it is fun to have once it is working correctly.

At first I was a little taken a back as the machine is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. But, I'm happy with how light it is. So down to the nitty gritty. I took it out of the box. Plugged in the charging station and then read the directions. Directions say to charge for 3 hours. I'm not that patient so I only charged it for 30 minutes and the battery said "fully charged". I connected it to my phone. My wife tried and failed with her iphone. I tried with my samsung and it worked perfectly fine. I did have to google "hoover home" to get the app as it did not pop up when I searched for it. I went through all the settings in the app, which included making sure your phone and the vacuum are on the same wireless network as well as bluetooth being on and connected. This took a while, maybe 5 or 10 minutes. It wasn't that hard on my samsung, not sure the problem with the iphone (maybe an update issue with IOS). Once I was connected, I took the charging station and the vacuum into a room to test it (after about a 30 minute charge). It mapped out the whole room and returned to the base. I pressed play and it cleaned the whole room. All this I controlled from my phone. I actually vacuumed the room with my own vacuum first and was pleasantly surprised (and a little ashamed) to see how much residual dirt the hoover picked up. I like it. I don't find the app that hard to use, and its both light and quiet. All good things in my book.

I was looking at various automated vacuums to help my parents out (they're getting older) and this thing is pretty sweet. It wasn't too hard to set up, and I really like that it has connected functionality to a phone and/or Alexa so my parents can just tell it to go and it will. As with any technology, there's a slight learning curve, but its definitely worth it!

My best Christmas gift! The robotic vacuum is a dream come true. I am extremely happy with the wonderful help. The job it does cleaning is absolutely amazing. The mobile app is rather difficult to use, but the vacuum itself is great. I would recommend the Hoover Rogue 970 Robot vacuum to anybody.

I really enjoy my robot vacuum. We have an inside dog and not having to manually vacuum the dog hair everyday has been a blessing. It works great transitioning from carpet to hardwoods, as well. I had some issues with the app at first but they've resolved that so I only have good things to say.

I purchased a Hoover Quest 1000. It worked OK. Sometimes I thought it was the best thing I ever purchased and some days I just wanted to smash it with a hammer. In reality it just needed some competent programming to make it great. But this review is not about that. The quest 1000 stopped working after a few months. No big deal, these things happen. Hoover support was super responsive and they sent me a brand new Rogue 970. I read up on the 970 before it arrived and I realized that this thing handled all my complaints about the Quest!! Virtual Walls, Alexa Integration, no requirement to be on the same Wi-Fi network. I was super excited and (at this point) I thought Hoover was THE BEST! Then the Rogue arrived and I couldn't wait to test it out. Yes.. I super excited over a vacuum. I don’t get out much, and when I do they always catch me and bring me back. I named it Dobby. Anyway, I set it up and connected to wireless. I didn't have the issues others had with wireless. I've been an enterprise class IT expert and gadget guru forever. My home network is solid.. setup was breeze and I thought to myself.. those other complainers are just technologically incompetent. Alexa integration was also simple but I tested that very little. I was very excited because the Quest did not have an Alexa skill. THEN… everything went horribly down hill. After charging fully, I started the RECON mode so it could map my house. It went through the whole house and returned to the dock. I opened the app and it still said "No Floor plan, Run Recon". Hrmmm.. ok, whatever. Maybe I did it wrong. I ran Recon again. As soon as the unit backed off the dock about 6" it stopped and reported it was picked up and put down. This is on a perfectly smooth surface. Fine.. it’s new. I restarted recon AGAIN and this time it completed. Now I opened the map and created some virtual walls... THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED! This is what I was so excited for. This is what was missing from the Quest. The quest would go into the bathroom and get stuck on the small rubber backed rug. Or it would go into my kids messy room and get stuck on any number of things. Virtual walls can keep it out of the hazards. Sweet!! Anyway, I created the virtual walls, and saved everything. Then I told it to clean to see how well it worked. I noticed it went into the bathroom. So I opened my map to see why the virtual wall wasn't working. What?? No map?? looking in the "Mission log" it says map deleted. Ok, Ok, it's my first day... maybe I hit the wrong button and screwed up. When it completed cleaning, I ran recon mode again. Made a new map, added virtual walls, set a schedule. At this point the unit needed to charge so I waited a few hours and then opened the app to make sure I was set for another test. NO MAP, no schedule. You can’t schedule a cleaning without a map, and since the map disappeared so did the schedule. Ughhhh. I did this another 3 times. Ran recon, close app, open app, map gone. Ok, it’s not me Dobby, It’s definitely you. So the best feature: Virtual Walls = useless since the map doesn't stay. I can’t even schedule it to clean, since you need a saved map to use the schedule..(Seriously how does THAT make sense?) Manual cleaning is about all I can do. I had issues with the Quest losing the map a lot. When it got stuck on something, there was a 30% chance it would be able to resume and a 70% chance it would lose it's map and have to start over. Really annoying when it got stuck after 80% of the cleaning was done and the battery was nearly dead. But the Quest didn’t NEED the map unless it was resuming a cleaning.. so it was a little more than a mild annoyance. But with the Rogue, you cant even set a schedule without a map, and if it loses the map, you lose the schedule!! This thing is literally unusable at this point. I contacted Hoover support but it's a Friday night so I don't expect any answer until Monday at least. That’s to be expected. Either it's a defective unit, and they will replace it (again) OR the device just sucks and they will refund my original purchase price (Doubtful) , or (Most likely) the device just sucks and they will tell me that better software is being worked on and essentially I’m stuck with it. Since this device is 100% useless, I've been thinking about what I'll do with it if they don't take it back.. I'll probably make a YouTube review detailing the issues so people can see it's all legit and it’s not me. Most importantly I'll end the video with few friends and a creatively executed, Office Space inspired, baseball bat smashing of the unit into bits. If I make it creative enough, at least the device will serve to entertain some people and hopefully gain enough attention to help others direct their cash to a brand that works. Conclusion, The hardware seems solid. The cleaning was just fine for my purposes. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and hardwood floors so I need daily cleaning to pickup the animal hair between the more thorough weekly cleanings. The unit seemed quieter than the Quest. The dust bin is more convenient but harder to open and empty. The real problem is the software. And since you can find reviews going back a while on the poorly developed software, it’s clear Hoover can handle the mechanical but is clueless with the technological. Hint: Fire 100% of your development team and hire a few high paid people with 20 years’ experience and a proven track record. I’ve managed a lot of developers over the last 20 years… there is no reason a single talented developer and 6 months cant improve the software to make this one of the best units out there. Get it together. Until that happens, this unit is a waste of time and money.

Nothing negative to say but had high expectations. It shut off randomly and did not automatically dock. Also it couldn’t get over the carpet line so only hardwoods were swept which is not super helpful.

Vacuum worked great for a while then it suddenly stopped mapping correctly and get stuck on low pile carpet. Now since new app has come out vacuum didn’t map 1/2 of the room it’s in and now it will back off charger but moves back and forth as though it’s stuck, but the floor is clear and the wheels turn properly.

Robot vacuum great - App unusable

We have had this vacuum for quite some time now. It worked GREAT when first purchased but shortly after the app stopped working. Numerous phone calls to tech support were useless as all I was told is an update is coming. It has been over a year now and still no update. The vacuum as a vacuum is fine but I bought it for the app features as well.

This is my first smart vacuum and I am amazed at all of the things it can do. I trust Hoover's dependability- My mom still has the Hoover I grew up with as a kid. It's still going strong at 35 yrs. old now. So I know they have a good track record.
