Just an all around amazing game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Feel free to check out this amazing and enveloping game but be warned: it is so good you will not want to stop playing until the 100+ hour saga is complete! Such a poignant and topical storyline in today's political climate and actual climate. A world where AI robotic animals roam the land? It could happen! Thankfully, you, Aloy, can save all! Okay - most. Amazingness and funitude abounds!

One of the Greatest Games of This Generation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horizon: Zero Dawn truly defined this year in gaming for me. It is nearly flawless and contains a gripping and emotional story, combined with top tier graphics, a fitting score, and (mostly) excellent voice acting. While the combat can sometimes feel like a grind, defeating the different machines always feels satisfying. If you have a PlayStation 4, this is the game to showcase.

A dinosaur and robot enthusiasts dream
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is almost perfect. It has some of the most beautiful vistas designed, with great lighting and beautiful landscapes. The animal/robot designs are cool. The story is new and interesting and has some good emotional beats. Like many open world games, it gets bogged down as a collect-athon occasionally but the beautiful game and compelling story will keep you hooked. 9.5/10

Outstanding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first title on the PS4 I have completed 100%. After experiencing the story for the first time, moving through to the Amazing Frozen Wilds DLC, and getting my platinums through New Game +, I can say the experience is truly worth it. There isn't another title out there more deserving of your time or money. Give it a try, and I hope you are impressed as much as I was.

A Must-Play Title for Adventure Fans
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horizon: Zero Dawn is the newest game from Guerilla, the makers of Killzone, which made me a little apprehensive at first due to the middling nature of Killzone, but this is a massive departure. With skill trees that lend to being either as stealthy or aggressive as you want to play, just about anyone can embrace the playstyle of their choice as they take down machines and make their way through an engaging story. The combat doesn't take a backseat to the story though, as the higher difficulties really evoke a sense of going on a potentially deadly hunt for some of these robots, so between the great story and combat, range of difficulties, and a New Game+ mode to carry over all upgrades, I can safely recommend this to the vast majority of PS4 owners. My only regret is that an even larger install base won't get to enjoy this game.

Amazing game, great for action/rpg beginners
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game provides a perfect balance of difficulty and strategy. The enemies can kill you quickly, even if you're strong, so you have to employ a strategy that's the fun part. However, once you've figured out a few tricks, the combat can become a bit tedious - hide in the bush, ice beats fire, attack and hide again. You always have way more than enough resources and money to make/buy whatever you need so that part isn't a challenge. Also, I wish there were more side-quests. All that said, the main story definitely had me intrigued and engaged, the graphics are just phenomenal, and the frame rate stays strong even with a lot going on. The voice acting from the main character is great and the script is witty. The social commentary is subtle but clever if you're tuned in. The hybrid of nature and tech is just so cool and unique. It's a must play.

Great concept
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is very good. It has a very interesting story where it takes place thousands of years in the future. Nice weapons, good controls, I do not really see anything that I do not like about the game other than some jumping and climbing. As in you are climbing or jumping up a mountain and think logically in the real world I would be able to climb up this ledge or jump up on this rock because it's only waist high, but the game specifically has grip points for you to climb on on most mountains.

So good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you don't enjoy this game, then you're doing something wrong. Every time I thought the combat was stale, I realized I wasn't utilizing the weapon selection properly. Seriously, this game is awesome. The visuals are amazing, photo mode is great, the controls are spot on; there's a reason it's on everyone's "game of the year" list. You need this in your life.

Guerrillaissance!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Guerrilla Games, best known for the Killzone series, made a terrific job with Horizon Zero Dawn. This PS4 exclusive is a fantastic open world rpg, with a very good protagonist: 'Aloy,' awesome graphics and very responsible controls. There're lots to do in this post-apocalyptic world, discover Aloy's origins, and good quests. I'm currently over 25 hours into this game and I have only completed few main quests because I'm exploring, completing errands, secondary quests, weapon tutorials, killing bots, etc. I could be writing for hours telling how good this game is, but lets make it short: It's like Uncharted 4 + The Witcher 3 + Tomb Raider are mixed together and the result is pretty much this game with its own identity. If you like open world rpg's, don't hesitate buying HZD. It's a very good game, not perfect but lot of fun.

Best open-world game ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you break any open-world game down to its constituent elements, they all suck. Elder Scrolls, GTA, Assassin's Creed .... they might be good experiences overall, but if you isolate their driving, or their combat, or their story .... everything sucks. Horizon is the passing of a threshold for the genre, because most of its elements are legitimately great. The combat is a purified version of Monster Hunter, the story is very good, there are amazing character moments, the graphics are insane, the side quests are involving, the world is beautifully crafted and detailed, and it's just plain fun, from moment to moment. It might be the best game ever made.

Graphics only get you so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While Horizon Zero Dawn might be one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen, I was ready for it to end by the time I was halfway through it. The combat and controls are solid overall. I was able to make Aloy jump, dodge, roll, and shoot with ease throughout the campaign. The weapon system is both one of the games strengths and weaknesses to be honest. There is a huge arsenal containing everything from slingshots to grappling hooks, but the upgrade and modification system is so poorly explained that I often found myself confused at what combination to use for which weapon and/or armor. I struggled with plenty of enemies because I wasn’t using the optimal setup to defeat them. Plus many upgrades required something like an animal skin, which you made you spend decent amounts of time tracking them down, only to have them NOT drop the item you need. This got quickly frustrating for a game this massive. My other major gripe which got tiresome by the halfway point was the cringeworthy voice acting. There are a LOT of cutscenes that will have you covering your ears by the time they’re over. Luckily the actress they used for Aloy did a decent job. After laboring through the game with these (and several other) gripes, I can’t recommend Horizon Zero Dawn considering there are so many other quality titles available for the PS4.

Review from a non-gamer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't play many games, but picked this up based on the hype that surrounded it's release. The game has truly stunning graphics! I'm only about an hour into the game, still going through the tutorial and the story line is very good. Apparently this game has different modes as well. I prefer the more open-world mode so I can roam around and explore.

Fun Game Overall!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The concept of this game is what really drew me in. I envisioned a scene from one of Steven King's Dark Tower books. Mechanical animals roaming the countryside! The game plays like Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Far Cry, but with a fresh great story and even better graphics. I've read some negative reviews about the voice overs, and yeah, they're not the greatest, but when have they ever really been in a video game? The story itself is compelling and playing with advanced technologies in a world where nature has taken over due to some unknown apocalypse is really ominous. I haven't even taken advantage of 4K or HDR, and the game is still a beauty. Really easy to pick up and get into and hunting these mechanical dinosaurs really gets the blood flowing! You have to be strategic in your attacks! I highly recommend.

Beautiful Open World Action RPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the beautiful visuals and gameplay. Huge open world environment and the action paced and RPG elements make this a great game. Reminds me of skyrim in a sense but not as long. Controls feel very smooth and graphics are stunning.

A Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game from the get go grips you into a realm of intrigue, mystery and action Galore. The Main Story along with the numerous side quests are awesome. You play Aloy, trying to find out whom she is in far away future.1,000 years in the future to be exact where machines run the earth.Dont want to give to much away even though this game has been out for awhile but i will say this...I would have given this game 5 stars if not for the repetitiveness of whom you fight.basically you fight same things all game.so i gave it 4 stars...cut scenes are not to long, you can skip em..controls are Awesome and the story lures you in.Give it a playthrough, you wont be disappointed.

Beautiful, Vast, Fun, Involving
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Of the two exploratory fantasy action games that came out in March, this was the one, not Zelda, that latched on with me. Amazing landscapes, fun damage-based combat with your bow, and a story blending a tribal apocalyptic future with the mistakes of the present/near-future, I was pulled in and enjoying this one until its somber end.
