I thought I'd seen it all. Nope!! My new baby is touch. I can do anything I want by just touching the screen. The graphics are A+, the speakers are A+, watching a movie is just as great as watching one on TV if not better. I wanted an upgrade from the 2011 HP I still have and man did I get an upgrade. If you love to text and are always on your computer, the mysms is the way to go. The price is unbelievable and if you like being envied, then the HP Envy is for you. Thanks HP

I purchased this laptop to replace an 8 year old HP. I am just amazed at the speed, the memory, the size of the hard drive. The additional memory and increased hard drive size were key factors in my decision to purchase this particular model. I also liked the size of the screen and the ability to use a wireless mouse. The graphics and my photos are amazing on this PC. I am a big fan.

Probably the best HP laptop ever built

This laptop is definitely one of the best available without going above a $1,500 price target. 16GB of RAM has me more than prepared for any gaming I want to do and is more than enough to run any programs or cloud-based applications I'd want to use. The touch screen is very responsive, the keyboard is elegantly designed (and highly functional). The speakers are great, not the best in the world but they aren't harsh like some other cheaper laptops. HP definitely outdid themselves, I used to hate this company and I walked into BestBuy looking for a laptop and fell in love. The 17.3" screen is amazing and I'm blown away by how light this laptop is for its size. It comes preinstalled with 8.1 but I recently updated to Windows 10 and it works beautifully on here, even "Hey Cortana" when enabled (you have to do this manually) is giving me no trouble. Happy with every aspect of this computer, with one small exception - there is no indicator light to indicate whether the num lock is engaged, the same way there is for the caps lock. I use the num pad a lot to type foreign characters and so it's helpful for me to know whether I have it engaged, but I understand that's a really small subset of people and it isn't even all that bothersome for me, it's just going to take an extra second if I start writing a document to make sure of whether it's on or off. Overall, I absolutely recommend that anyone who uses their computer a lot and is looking for a large screen, a superb keyboard and a great laptop experience at least consider this one. This is not the HP we've known for years, this is something far superior. Something that overcame every stereotype and assumption I've ever had about HP.

    Great Laptop

I love this laptop. I originally purchased the HP Envy 2 in 1 15" and that was a great laptop too (and liked that it could be a tablet) but I exchanged it for this laptop because it had more memory and a slightly better NVIDIA adapter, and it went on sale for $50 less than my original purchase. Yes, it is heavy but I expected that because it also has a CD/DVD drive which was another reason why I exchanged the other laptop for this. The mousepad does seem a little more sensitive but not enough to completely annoy me. I probably need to take a closer look at the settings. It is great for editing pictures which is why I wanted more memory and a good graphics card. My father also highly recommend HP Envy. He owns one and he is an IT professional. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone who wants to do some graphics design work. Not sure about gaming because I am not a gamer. I also think the price is very reasonable for what this laptop offers. I also want to note that the exchange went very easy. I'm not sure why other people have problems with exchanging. The customer service desk was very nice and professional and did not give me a hard time (although they were surprised I was returning the other laptop and asked why - it really was also a good laptop... just felt I needed the additional memory and upgraded video card). One recommendation to Best Buy: Increase your return policy to 30 days. Unfortunately I'm still just a few points shy of the Elite status so I only had 14 days. I honestly think you'd get fewer exchanges & returns if people have more time to try out their laptop. With more time, I might have considered keeping the other laptop and purchasing additional memory as I did like the fact that it was a tablet as well. Again, I'm happy with this laptop but you probably would have had 1 less return. Just a suggestion.

Great machine. Screen size, speed, and graphics all supurb. Four stars for two reasons. I had a light color blotch on the screen corners that can only be seen in the dark on certain settings. I took my first one back for this reason. And, there is no finger print reader on this one. Minor flaws. I really do like this laptop. Just make sure that you look at the screen corners in a dark room for light spots. Because you will defn. notice it, if you watch a space movie in a darker room.

I switch laptops all the time. The build quality on this is excellent! No cheap plastic. I upgraded the HDD to an SSD and the speed is amazing! Love the specs -- the big screen, the nice keyboard, the trackpad, the discrete graphics. I also just bought an HP Spectre x360 and love that too. HP is definitely doing a good job these days, better than they used to. Happy with my HP laptops.

    Giving HP another chance

After an attempt to buy a Toshiba Laptop failed I went to Best Buy to see what was out there. I found the HP Envy and was almost immediately committed to buy it. I wanted I7 Intel processor, 17 inch screen, Hybrid drive and back lit keyboard as features for around $1,000. I got everything but the Hybrid drive and much more. The screen is a 1080P touch screen for starters. Also, 16 Gig of memory too. I have upgraded the system to Windows 10 without any difficulty. Getting things moved over to the new machine was relatively easy. I am using Office 365 and OneDrive both of which helped the migration of email history and setup. The machine operates pretty smoothly and quickly. I love the design. The weight is a bit more than I would have preferred but not a big issue. What is a big issue I that the "s" key does not work properly. In this review alone I had to go back several times to retype the letter "s". So, I will get another trip to Best Buy to see how that gets fixed. I would have given a 5 star rating if not for the "s" key issue. The buying experience at Best Buy was great. Two different reps helped me get it done and get it done quickly. They were knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks.

I thought long and hard before investing so much in a laptop-its true, you can get one for half the price of this one, but it will not do as much or be as fast! I am totally happy with this purchase-and Windows10 is a dream to work with. It runs real quiet, comfortable keyboard! Go for it-you won't be disappointed

Awesome computer, very fast and graphics are great. Games are very easily played with little to no lag. You cannot beat the price for what you get. Only issue was Geek squad was backed up for two days and unable to quickly optimize my computer. So I had to figure out for my self how to remove the junk and to complete free windows 10 upgrade.

I did my homework and deciphered through endless reviews on many laptop types and this one is clearly superior. It is packed full of speed and space. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone at any need level...it's that good! Coupled with the new Windows 10 makes it a dream. Don't pass up adding Geek Squad protection...just in case.

We bought this laptop for my nephew who is starting college. I am a loyal Apple user, and would not buy anything else, however, my nephew wasn't comfortable and really wanted to stick with a pc. We did a lot of research to find out the perfect laptop for the money. After getting this one home, we found that the research paid off. Easy to use, the larger screen is nice, and my nephew loves the touch screen capability. All and all great purchase.

Finding a laptop that is a touch-screen, large display (17.3 inches), plenty of RAM (16Gb), with an i7 processor, and 1Tb hard drive for $999 was too good to pass up and after using the laptop some more I'm impressed with how fast and intuitive the laptop is and I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone. Although not necessary, I'm glad that it came with a CD-DVD drive.

We needed to get a laptop that could support general college work and graphic animation. This model fit the bill perfectly. With a 4th generation i7, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive, the machine has more than enough power for animation work. Plus the 2GB discrete video card supports the most demanding graphic applications. We were surprised to get such high specifications for under $1000. The unit came with Windows 8.1, but upgraded as soon as the initial user setup was complete. the laptop is fairly heavy with a 17 inch touch display, but not to bad to carry around for short periods. The battery life seems to last about 4.5 to 5 hours of general use but I suspect it might be less when you start really using more intensive applications. All in all, we are very happy with this purchase.

This laptop was a fantastic buy for the speed and memory that it has. My teenage son not only uses it for gaming, but for video editing and creating music through multiple vices. Its been extremely reliable and has done everything we had hoped it would.

I bought this to replace an older Toshiba. I really like this laptop a lot and I am still figuring it all out. Very fast, great graphics and Video Card. The only negative is the weight as it is very heavy & the battery will not last long due to all the extras on this. Most the time less than 2 hours for me. Again very fast and very well built laptop.
