Great machine ruined by flawed keyboard

This is a very capable little machine that I have used as a daily driver for about a month. It can handle photo editing, audio editing, Excel, multiple Chrome tabs, etc. Unfortunately, after only a month of use the upper and lower layers of the cloth cover on the keyboard started separating from each other. So far HP is being challenging at best at standing behind their warranty. Even if the keyboard is eventually replaced, I'm fairly confident that the replacement will split in the same manner. The materials are just poor. Too bad. Otherwise this is a great machine.

Bought a year ago and has been my main computer since. Lasted through a terrible fall from my laptop backpack and 4 under-ways on a submarine before I had my first major problem. The keyboard is connected by cloth to the base to allow for flexibility, but the connecting material for the charging contacts has finally broken off after having gone through a year of wear and tear. My keyboard no longer is able to charge and the only solution is to purchase a new keyboard cover through HP.

Amazing size for this notebook. Pictures look great and I love the detachable keyboard. It is a little on the heavy side.

I have and this computer for a month over a year and have had issue after issue. I bought it from Best Buy and there has been a new problem every couple months. Timeline of issues as follows:
Bought: Jan. 2015 from Bestbuy.com
1st problem: March 2015 operating system failure. Computer crashes intermittently. Fix: tech support reinstalls OS.
2nd problem: March 2015 Wireless keyboard fails. The wiring to the power source wore out. Fix: keyboard sent under warranty
3rd Problem: April 2015 Frequent bluetooth connection issues with detachable keyboard. Fix: tech has no idea and spends hours reinstalling different drives that never truly fixes the problem.
4th problem: May 2015 Computer freezes and crashes. Fix: tech support wipes computer HDD and starts new.
bought extended warranty at this point which is good through Jan. 2017 cost almost $200
5th problem: July 2015 Connectivity issues with detachable bluetooth keyboard. Fix: tech support spent a couple hours not doing anything to fix the problem
Upgrade to windows 10 fixed connectivity issues with bluetooth detachable keyboard
6th problem: August 2015 computer will not turn on. Fix: send into HP. Turnaround time 2 wks. They did not figure out the issue, however, the keyboard failed again so this is the 3rd detachable keyboard I have gotten from HP.
7th problem: 2016 Feb HDD failed. Still under warranty. New HDD is getting sent to my residence and a tech will come out and to repair it at the end of this week.
I work full time and I am a student. Most of my classes I take online so I take my computer with me where ever I go. This computer is not made well, the lcd is starting to separate from the casing. It does have a nice big screen but it is not durable. This computer should be treated like a desktop. I plan on buying a new computer once the warranty expires. This is by no means a reliable computer especially for working students with critical deadlines to make!

I love the computer! I paid extra for 2 day shipping, even called Best Buy to make sure I would get it in 2 days. Best Buy told me it would be here in 2 days but it took 5 days. :(
