Worthy Contender in a Crowded Copilot+ Room
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm just going to say it. The HP Omnibook X Copilot+ PC is a laptop that's built for everyday use by non-creatives, and that's OK. First impressions of this laptop I have to give props to its professional and sleek all-aluminum design. It's not something you would find in a marketing department for the latest media creation, but for everyone else in the company, it hits the mark. The laptop is impressively lightweight while maintaining a premium feel, and the screen resolution is just right, offering sharp visuals and crisp text without adding unnecessary cost and performance hit of a higher resolution display. Typing on the Omnibook is comfortable, thanks to well-sized keys with decent travel. However, the lack of backlighting is a drawback, making it difficult to type in low-light conditions without an additional light source. The trackpad is responsive and free of lag, though its mechanical click action might require users to keep their fingers clean to avoid issues over time. Performance-wise, the Omnibook shines. Despite being equipped with the slower Snapdragon X Elite chip (X1E-78), it handles daily tasks like managing hundreds of emails, working on complex spreadsheets, and participating in several hours of video calls effortlessly. Even after a full day of heavy use, the battery still had over 40% left, allowing for some light gaming on Xbox Cloud. However, it goes without saying that this laptop is not designed for serious gaming with it's integrated graphics. One of the laptop's highlighted features is its AI integration with Copilot. While the dedicated Copilot button is a nice touch, the standalone app feels somewhat forced. The true potential of Copilot is seen when integrated with Microsoft Office tools like Outlook, Excel, and Power Automate. However, as a separate application, it seems more like a showcase of interesting but ultimately limited features. For example, using the Vacation Planner to find reasonably priced hotels near subway stations in NYC was helpful until it came to providing accurate pricing, where it fell short. Connectivity options are somewhat limited, with only one USB-A and two USB-C ports, one of which supports USB 4. This port successfully connected to an LG 5K Ultrafine monitor after a brief setup period, which is a nice addition for occasional use. Overall, the HP Omnibook X Copilot+ PC is a strong contender in its price range. It offers solid performance, a premium build, and useful features for business users. While it has some limitations, particularly with AI integration and connectivity, it remains a viable option worth considering for those in need of a reliable and efficient business laptop.

overpriced with AWFUL speakers
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is very mid. I came from a macbook and I genuinely regret not getting another. The good- the keyboard is actually really pleasant to type on. The screen quality is good. The touch screen is really neat, I have never had a laptop with a touch screen. The battery life is really good. I have been using it for a few hours a day for almost a week and I still have not had to re charge it since the initial charge. It works really fast, its snappy and I really like that. the face unlock is cool and works quickly. Now the bad... The speakers. oh my actual god, it sounds like a tin can at best and is not loud at all. for $900 I really expected better sound quality, I am actually so shocked at how bad it sounds. The speakers are on the bottom for some reason which makes no sense because it obviously going to be muffled if you use it in your lap... but its a laptop of course it goes in your lap. The track pad is strange. I am used to a macbook which has a haptic trackpad, It always right clicks when I don't want it to (user error, i'm going to adjust the placement of my clicks i suppose). overall... I wouldnt say this computer has anything to justify the price. It's just a basic laptop so I am really confused about the price tag. You cant really play games on it I have seen, many games just crash which i hope will be fixed soon. I wish i could exchange it for another laptop but I have had it for almost a week and I doubt the would allow that. ps- There are almost NO HONEST REVIEWS about this laptop on youtube or tiktok so BEWARE, everyone is being paid to rave about it. It is mid at best

The next generation of PC's have arrived.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ARM era has finally arrived for PC, so Macs have company now! The HP OmniBook X - Copilot+ PC is a powerhouse of innovation and performance, perfect for both creative professionals and everyday users. Copilot+ is the name of the AI engine that is now a part of Windows 11 PC’s equipped with an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) chip. Copilot+ can be quickly opened with the press of the Copilot button on the keyboard. It has many AI enabled features, but some of the noteworthy ones include Cocreator, Live Captions, and Windows Studio Effects. The Cocreator allows real-time collaboration on documents and creative projects. Live Captions provides real-time captions for any audio playing on your device, making content more accessible for those with hearing impairments. This feature also comes in handy during meetings or when watching videos in a noisy environment. In my testing with it, I found that the accuracy and speed of the captions was very accurate. Lastly, Windows Studio Effects suite takes video calls and content creation to the next level. With features like background blur, auto framing, and advanced noise reduction, your video calls look professional, and your recorded content is polished and clear. These effects are easy to use and significantly enhance the quality of your video interactions and productions. The inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor sets the OmniBook X apart from its competitors. This nextgen chip is a CPU and NPU in one unit. This processor delivers exceptional performance and energy efficiency. It handles multitasking with ease, ensuring smooth and lag-free operation even when running demanding applications. The Snapdragon X Elite also contributes to the laptop’s impressive battery life, allowing you to work longer without needing to recharge frequently. HP claims 26 hours and in my testing I found that this was basically true. I was able to get an easy 8 hours of use for 3 straight days without recharging when I took the OmniBook with me while I worked outside my home. The battery level would go down only about 1% more each night so it doesn’t consume much energy when in sleep mode. When I needed to charge up at the coffee shop one day I was able to get back to 50% charge in around 30 minutes. I was using simple apps like Office 365 and the Edge browser, which just sip battery life. Obviously, using heavy duty video editing apps would consume more battery life. Also, keep in mind that there are not a lot of ARM native apps on the PC side so x86 apps have to be run under on the fly emulation (you won’t notice any real speed delays when opening an app like Adobe Acrobat), and a lot of apps might not work under emulation at the moment. Also, this laptop is whisper quiet. No more jet engine fans kicking in like in traditional PC laptops. The 14" 2.2K (2240x1400) touch-screen display is vibrant and responsive, making it perfect for both work and entertainment. It is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, and the Eyesafe Certified Display protects your eyes from harmful blue light. The high resolution ensures sharp and detailed visuals, while the touch functionality adds an extra layer of interactivity, especially useful for creative tasks and presentations. I found it fun to play around with making crude drawings using the touchscreen and then telling Copilot to make the drawing into a polished art piece. What AI can already do now is mind blowing. However, the main drawback about this screen was it was too dim. It is only 300 nits and that is unacceptable in 2024 in what is billed as a premium laptop. 16GB of RAM ensures smooth performance and ample memory for all your needs. Whether you're editing videos, running multiple applications, or streaming content, the HP OmniBook X handles it effortlessly. I didn’t find myself wishing I had more memory at any time I was working on this HP laptop. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 ensure that the latest current mobile technologies are supported In conclusion, the HP OmniBook X - Copilot+ PC is a top-tier laptop that combines powerful performance with innovative features. The Cocreator, Live Captions, and Windows Studio Effects enhance productivity and accessibility, making it an excellent choice for professionals and creatives alike. Paired with the robust Snapdragon X Elite processor, this laptop is a reliable and versatile device that delivers on all fronts. It is perfect for professionals on the go that work on primarily Office 365 and other web based apps, as the battery life is just spectacular.

Amazing Laptop, not sold on Copilot yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP has been steadily improving their laptop offerings over the past few years, and in my opinion is starting to outpace other manufacturers. They just keep getting better. The HP OmniBook X is a snappy, efficient, workhorse laptop that is also very light and thin with quite good battery life. First, let me say that I am a typical consumer laptop user, not a power user or business user. I spend most of the time on a laptop web browsing, streaming content, and creating and processing photos. That's important to note when it comes to my review of the AI features of this laptop. As far as hardware goes, I was particularly interested in the Snapdragon Elite processor. I have never had a laptop with a Qualcom processor and the Snapdragon Elite is, simply put, a much more efficient processor than I have used before. Various bench tests consistently showed about a 20% speed and efficiency increase from what I am used to. I use some graphics processing software that is very CPU intensive and the Snapdragon performed wonderfully. Normally in my hobby photo field (astrophotography) people avoid using a laptop for processing photos because the hardware severely extends the photo editing time, but the Snapdragon processor changes that narrative for me. I can now edit photos on the OmniBook X and it does not take an inordinate amount of time. Also, during stress tests I was amazed that the laptop did not get very hot or even very warm. Battery life is very good, but I don't know how HP can claim "up to 26hrs" battery life. I tested by looping a youtube video after setting up the PC with no other apps etc installed. With the screen at full brightness it lasted about 11hrs. Repeating the test with the screen at 50% brightness, the laptop lasted 15hrs. I think that's very good and speaks to the Snapdragon efficiency, but it's no where near 26hrs. I was pleasantly surprised the fully recharging the battery from 5% only took about 80 minutes. It comes with a 65W charger (USB-C tip). One thing I don't like is that the cable is hard wired into the charging block. I would have preferred to be able to replace the USB cable if needed as they do wear out. Now let's talk about the AI features. The OmniBook X is one of the first Copilot+ AI pc's available. Part of what that means is that the computer has it's own Neural Processing Unit (NPU), a local hardware processor. This means that AI features are faster because they happen locally on the PC, not online in the cloud. Indeed, the simple AI requests I made gave fast replies with good information. As a photo creator, I tested Paint with Copilot+. I asked Copilot to create a "realistic" image of "hiking in Glacier National Park" something that I have been researching lately. Copilot gave several examples, all of which clearly had elements of GNP. I then asked it to create an "anime" image with the same input. I think things like this could be very useful in quickly creating graphics for presentations etc. However, I am not sold on Copilot yet. Copilot is marketed toward business users, offering better efficiency at data processing tasks and summarizing data. I have no doubt that Copilot can do that very well and of course much quicker than a human. However, I couldn't figure out how to use it for those purposes. I could easily use Copilot to "create a list of the 10 best hikes in Glacier National Park under 10 miles," and things of that nature, but I could not figure out how to integrate Copilot into things like Microsoft Excel to analyze data. Also, I found HP's AI assistant to be a little better laid out and easier to navigate. I found myself going to the HP AI assistant vs Copilot for simple things as described above. For good or ill, the future is indeed AI, but I am not sold yet on real world applications for the typical consumer.

Hp omnibookx with copilot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellant - This is second buy - Bought for the extended battery life, battery will last for 15-18 hours when i changed parameter to never to allow laptop to sleep, but sleep screen after 30 min. processing speed is excellant and wifi speed on wifi6 accesspoint over 700. Easy to setup( did do local install(not using MS account for security reasons, but do not need ms features or using co-pilot). Installed ms 2021 suite, malware security and ecosys printers. Only issue is ms 24h2 will not allow third party printer drivers to be installed, like label printers R(dymolabel) to be installed. Successfully installed licensed apps i had on pc being replace (win10) with no problem. SO verify - IF your current printer that requires it own install or will it accept the microsoft pcl default printer driver

Great Laptop, "AI" is not Useful Enough...Yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to try out one of the new Copilot+PC’s for a project and needed a new laptop for working on while traveling. Decided on the HP OmniBook X Copilot+PC as I’ve had pretty good experience with my prior HP Elitebooks and this model was readily available. Pros: - Thin and Light. - ALL DAY Battery Life with 30mins charge time to 50%. - Gen AI in Copilot and Cocreator are fun. Cons: - Other AI features are less impressive. - Non-upgradeable RAM. Setup: HP went with a basic Windows 11 setup, only difference is the HP service agreement at the end. Setup went smoothly, though HP bundled in some annoying bloatware like McAfee and HP’s own AI Assistant, which is kind of redundant on a CoPilot focused laptop. I’ll do a clean install of Windows 11 after updating the system hardware drivers. Initial setup finished smoothly, but that’s when I hit a couple of issues. When trying to stop OneDrive from syncing all my folders to the laptop, the system started to freeze and then crashed. This same issue occurred 2 more times before I was able to successfully select which folders to synchronize. I’m not going to fully blame HP here, as this seemed to be an issue with how OneDrive worked over the hardware, but Microsoft may want to change how OneDrive defaults to sync all folders locally. After unselecting most of my folders, I was able to use the laptop normally without any more crashes. Hardware: HP chose to include a pretty good balance of hardware for the OmniBook X. The CPU at its core is the Snapdragon X Elite, a 12 core processor with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that has 45 Trillion Operations Per Second (TOPS). This is one of the main requirements to be a CoPilot+PC, to have at least 40 TOPS. Additionally, HP has included 16GB of LPDDR5X, which unfortunately doesn’t allow for future upgrades but is extra fast at 8448 MT/S, which is plenty of memory for most Users. The Touch Display is very responsive, allowing for multi-point touch controls, such as pinch to zoom. The resolution on the display comes in at an odd size of 2240 by 1400, though the standard aspect ratio makes it hard to notice. The screen is bright enough to use in direct sunlight, though I would wish it was a bit brighter as it would make the colors pop more in direct sunlight. The battery life on the OmniBook X is very impressive. I initially charged it up to full, then used it off charger for 3 days for about 4-6 hours a day, and it still had 30% on the 4th day. When they say all day battery, this is what I want. This is perfect for anyone who travels often, for work or fun, as the battery will hold up while you’re on the go. Plus, the HP Fast Charge is another huge bonus for the traveler, go from 0-50% battery in 30mins. Great for when you wake up and forget to charge, just top off before heading out in the morning. The all-aluminum case adds yet another premium feel to the laptop, I’ve used a few other HP laptops with similar case styles and greatly enjoyed them. At under 3lbs, this laptop is made to be portable. Performance and Use: I had a lot of fun with the HP OmniBook X, the battery life and touch screen made it a very portable and easy to use laptop. I’ve used it as my personnel laptop for a couple of days now, it was always ready to go, turned on quickly, and tackled most daily tasks I threw at it without issue. It was the perfect little productivity machine that had all the bells and whistles to make using it enjoyable. Typing is very enjoyable, the spacing, size, and height of the keys are just right. The backlighting makes it easy to adjust to any lighting environment. Touch screen adds ease to the navigation and is very responsive, no issues touching exactly where you want on the screen. I ran a Passmark Performance Test, as Passmark has an ARM version of the test and well, it confirmed my may doubts about this laptop. It’s not a bad laptop, but the Graphics performance alone drags down the overall performance of the laptop. If you ignore the graphics performance, the OmniBook X would fall in in the 79th percentile, where it is better than 79% of all tested computers. Unfortunately, due to the incompatibility of the ARM architecture paired with the integrated graphics, the overall score is at 49th percentile. Over half of all computers tested performed better than the Brand New OmniBook X, though keeping in mind the issues with Graphics is probably partially due to software support more than hardware issues. That leads into Gaming is only okay, at best. Unfortunately, unless the game is developed to run on ARM architecture, even with the translation layer Microsoft has built, many of the bigger titles cannot even launch due to anti-cheat software that is not compatible with the ARM processor. I was able to stream games when I hooked up a controller and launched the Xbox App, but that limited the frame rate and overall experience had me wanting to just go use a gaming focused computer. BUT realistically, if I want to game, I will do so on gaming computer, not this productivity laptop. It’s an even worst experience when using game clients like Steam, where it’s pretty much a guessing game on if the game would even launch. If you want to even lightly game, I would not recommend picking the OmniBook X, go get a cheaper gaming laptop. AI Features: I’ll start out saying this laptop suffers from the ongoing trend of “slap ‘AI’ on it to sell”. Multiple features are fun to have, but to claim they directly impact the experience of using this laptop is quite the stretch for the average user. This is mainly because all of these tools are still very immature in their development and usefulness. I will say, in maybe 3-6 months, I could see more features becoming available that could justify upgrading to have access to the NPU but not at the current time. I used the Copilot app to put together lists and emails, that I then copied into the related app to use, the experience felt very half baked. The integration to each of the separate productivity apps is not there with the CoPilot button, which interrupts the flow of the tools and process. For example, CoPilot is built into PowerPoint, but that version of CoPilot is not the one triggered when you press the CoPilot button. Instead, a separate application is launched, which cannot create PowerPoint slides for you. The CoPilot App will just give you the details for what to include on each slide. The tool inside of PowerPoint can actually create the full PowerPoint for you with the same prompts. This feels like steps backwards, not forward. The email word generation was helpful, unless you’ve previously communicated with the receiver a lot, then they might notice the drastic change in wording used in your emails. I will have to play around more with feeding in a sample email I’ve previously written to base the writing style on. Though, again this would be more beneficial when directly plugged into the email application. Similarly, the generative AI for image creation was enjoyable and useful, but I’ll not use this as much for actual work, mostly for fun in nonprofessional settings. Real Time translation was only okay, you will need to have the speaker speak slower than normally spoken and enunciate clearly. I tried it also on a recorded video, and though it did well enough to understand what the topic of the conversation was, it was often too slow and inaccurate to capture enough of the conversation. Waiting for an actual translated subtitle would be much more enjoyable. I did have fun with CoCreator in paint, as I have Zero artistic talent. But with CoCreator, I was able to generate the idea in my head onto paper with some basic shapes and tweaks to the prompt. It was both enjoyable and rewarding to see what I was thinking appear on the page in front of me. This might be the most impressive AI feature of the bunch. The AI features feel half baked, at least a fun experience for the curious but an annoyance to anyone hoping to be more productive with their use when compared to the same experience on any other laptop. Conclusion: The Omnibook X is a great productivity machine for the frequent traveler, it’s thin, lightweight, powerful enough to tackle most tasks and comes with a battery life that lasts multiple days. All this wrapped up in a premium shell with all the bells and whistles. If this sounds like something you’d want and enjoy, then I would recommend the OmniBook X to you. BUT, the AI features are no where near useful or mature enough to be a reason to upgrade to this machine for it. If you’re looking for something new that will have some futureproofing, this might be a consideration but considering the huge focus on AI features that are lackluster, buying an older model with more upgradeability would probably be a better move while the AI features and specifications mature. The Omnibook X would not be a quick recommendation for me at this time.

Great Hardware, Software for ARM64 Is Issue
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop and I recommend it entirely for a jack of all trades productivity device IF your software will run well on it, and that's a very big IF, at the moment. Also any devices connecting to it (printers, adapters, etc) will need compatible drivers for ARM64 or you might not be able to use any or all functionality. Hardware / Operating System: This is a gorgeous notebook. Very thin and fairly light. Take anywhere. The hardware is outstanding: Pros: Biggest new thing for a laptop: Snapdragon X Elite processor with NPU, now ARM64 vs. past x86 Aluminum case 10 point touchscreen (touch only, no MPP pen integration) with great faithful color reproduction Nice keyboard and touchpad Excellent battery life, better by FAR of any Windows device I've ever used Very fast log in via Windows Hello IR camera (turn off animations to speed it up a tiny bit) From Sleep, opening the lid and going right back to where you were is as instant as I have ever experienced. Has a fan for cooling, but I have never heard it activate once, so don't know how loud it gets Windows 11 is very snappy and responsive on this 24H2 version, which isn't out widely yet. Cons: Display is only about 300 nits, why oh why on a basically "tech demo" model did they not have a normal peak brightness display. They could have put a warning on the brightness slider, "Here be where your battery goes to die", but give the option. 60 hertz display, for what its made for, 60 hertz is fine, but deal breaker for some I'm sure. No pen support, again on a tech demo model, MPP pen support would have gone a long way to promote the AI drawing feature of "Cocreator". Software and AI Features: This is where things don't match the marketing and the hype. The AI Features that are present work, their claim to fame is that they are done on the laptop and not in the cloud. Cocreator: Cocreator is the most interesting, it exists in the Paint app. I will attach a cherry tree picture that my 9 year old did. It shows their drawing in Paint on the left. On the right of the screen grab, you see the Cocreator interface, Filter (oil painting, pixel art, none, etc), the creativity slider (pretty much how much leeway the AI takes away from your drawn art work), the text box to describe your drawn art and what you want it to be, and then the Picture of the AI rendered adjustment. So the best use for this is to select your filter and type in what you want it to end up as. Then draw some of your scene and see what the AI does with it. Adjust the creativity slider as wanted. Then, click on the AI rendered image when its "better" than your art, and it will replace your art on the left. Then make changes in the picture on the left, and possibly the text box to keep going. Its a very iteration based process in my view to get the best use out of it. Studio Effects: This one applies backgrounds and animation to your camera image using local AI BEFORE it leaves your computer. Thats the only real big difference from what you have probably already used before on various programs. Maybe good if you have privacy concerns about what your raw camera image might be showing to the servers its traveling through. I didn't like the eye thing to make it look like you are staring only at the camera. Maybe that will get more natural looking in future updates. Live Captions: This is great for offline use on videos with spoken word or even say a foreign language audio book or speech. Works online of course as well. Right now, its only some languages to English, but it works pretty well, a bit behind in pace of course as its processing on the fly. What it will not do is do Live Captions well for say a music video. I tried 99 Luftballons and it failed miserably at translating singing with instrument noises. It also did not do well in an action movie clip. So its more for clear spoken words, which is fine as a translation tool. Microsoft Store and Windows 11 Apps: This is where I have my biggest problem with this laptop. It is supposed to have a PRISM emulator that helps x86 programs run under the ARM64 processor. But the Microsoft Store is full of apps that still say "Not Compatible with your processor" exactly the same as it said 4 years ago for the Surface Pro X with the first modern ARM processor for Windows. I don't think this is acceptable, its not even allowing the PRISM emulator to TRY to work. Apps like Xbox app only allow you to do Cloud Gaming (If you have a Gamepass subscription that is), you can't install ANY GamePass PC games or games you own through the Microsoft Store (Games that you bought on Xbox that are "Play Anywhere" for example). This is unacceptable. This machine would be GREAT for Casual/Cozy games, which there are plenty of on GamePass. I cannot install Stardew Valley from Microsoft Store, but I can (and did) install my copy from GoG and it runs just fine thank you very much. There are also other Microsoft Store apps that will install but either won't run or function fully. This is my "take everywhere" device because it can do a lot productivity wise, but if the software/drivers compatibility issues can be fixed it will be my "use for everything mobile and light device".

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop!!! I started with a Microsoft surface seven and it was not a great experience. I exchanged that laptop for the Omnibook and couldnt be happier. The usb port that i see a lot of complaints about dosent bother me too much as most things have converted to usb c and theres two of those ports in this laptop. The snapdragon elite chip also is a game changer on this computer. I would def reccomend this laptop to any college student or independent contractor to maintain their business.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR - The Omnibook X is a nice aluminum+touchscreen ultrabook with caveats regarding the “AI” stuff and the fact that many normal apps are going to be translated in the background from x86-64 to arch64/ARM. Phenomenal battery life, snappy every day performance (after updates). Windows 11 is what I feel like is holding Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X back. CPU/GPU - I will bundle these all together since it’s all the same chip. The GPU isn’t anything special, but can play low end games. (rocket league runs smoothly 80-120fps at medium) The CPU is an incredible jump from Qualcomm's previous tries in this space. It paces with an M1 Max in Cinebench 2024, and in Cinebench R23 (I believe it runs translated) it increased multiple % just running a Windows update. Qualcomm has a winner in these new Snapdragon X’s, but Windows/software is holding it back. Software/AI - The AI stuff currently feels gimmicky at best. AI is just the current buzzword being tossed around in tech, and for normal everyday computing it's mostly not useful…(I feel like an OS made for ARM tech would also let this system fly) Build/case - Build quality is quite solid, all aluminum chassis. The screen is decently bright, plus it has a decent touchscreen/windows hello camera. The SSD and wifi card are upgradeable surprisingly, and it's easy to get to, only 4 x T5 screws! Overall, a very quick everyday laptop if you’re techy or can live with the quirks/caveats of Windows on ARM. You may find better options for value/performance, so I do not recommend it for everyone!
