This purchase is great as it gives you the luxury of both a tablet and laptop. However, I will have the say the processor on this particular laptop is not the fastest and you will find yourself waiting on certain applications or motions to be processed. This judgement is coming off of normally using a 2012 Mac Book Pro and needed to use this while I got that repaired. I enjoyed its flexibility to be used in different ways depending on the setting (I like to use it as a tablet in bed but a laptop at a workplace). I would primarily recommend this for someone who are simply using it for its portability, entertainment, and social use. As a current college student however, its slower processor and minor-fixes (sometimes the laptop didn't register my trackpad when I would switch back and forth from tablet to laptop) would make me cautious of this purchase. I realize its expensive, but a Surface Pro or a Macbook would make it easier for a student to do their work/research due to its faster processing and ease of use. For a simple gift or electronic to be used as entertainment, then this is the laptop for you.

My brother was looking for an affordable Windows laptop. We checked out the low end range, high end range and found this nice unit. It is well equipped for the price (i.e. touch screen, 360 capability, good processor & hard drive, etc) and is fairly light as well. For those looking for a solid machine without breaking the budget this is it.

I bought this computer for its size and portability. Those traits were fine. I really like the 360 positioning for converting from a laptop to a tablet. I gave it three stars because it processes so slowly. It is a Pentium and that is a little slower than the newer processors, but it literally stops between pages.

I realize that the notebook is not classified as a tablet but works in much the same way. While I use primarily for business related applications I am beginning to discover the entertainment/learning applications available from the MS store. I'm liking this tool a lot.
I'm still getting used to using the touch screen features which are not as acute or sensitive as my smart phone. However for more obtuse kinds of movement like paint programs of some entertainment apps it's fine.
System 8 and it's uses are still a bit of a mystery to me and sometimes I'm particularly confused as to why dragging an arrow across my open document will unleash a variety of other display changes apparently intended to happen but annoying to me.
However, overall I like this for it's size and weight, social network capability and the fact the TSA treats is like a notebook and doesn't have to x-ray it at every checkpoint is also a plus.
I would like it if the battery capacity was better as it's often not convenient for me to save power by turning down the brightness.

This portable 11.6" 'hybrid' laptop delivers for $400. The touchscreen along with the ability to fold flat like a tablet or invert or pop-up like a tent is appealing for anyone wanting a modern laptop and more. However, unlike similar products, like the Lenovo Yoga 2, this HP Pavillion x360 does not convert to a tablet in the best possible way...namely; completely recessing the keys on the keyboard for a more confident grip. This machine could also have a more snappy response with the use of a 4th gen Pentium core processor or even more RAM, but the simple Intel Pentium processor and 4 GB will have to do. The display could be more crisp if it were FULL HD and the keys would look great illuminated. Having said all that HP has done very well to keep the price within reach for those that want something sleek with a bit of style. Upgrading those areas could easily double to cost. Keep in mind this has a full Windows Operating System and will provide far more functionality vs Android etc, especially if you install Microsoft Office like I did. And oh yeah the 'Beats' audio sound great! Four stars for the nicely struck balance between cost, performance, style and cool-ness.

This worked better than expected. I was hesitant to purchase initially, (because the one I waned was not there and I was traveling and needed a new one), but once I learned of all the features and the capability of a desktop without the size and a touchscreen too ... I was impressed. love using it.

I purchsed this laptop to provide a Microsoft product within the household. The laptop is compact, nice screen, utilize the nice 360 touch screen. The speed meets the needs for browsing, e-mail, MS Office. Many preloaded SW packages made machine sluggish, Windows 8 is difficult to use, not intuitive therefore unexpective learning curve. A solid secondary PC choice.

This hybrid Windows laptop has the fancy new features as hinted in its “x360” name. Its screen can fold over backwards and be used as a tablet, or it can be placed keyboard down with screen slightly raised to be used in “stand” mode, or it can be viewed in “tent” mode in which the screen image flips upside down and the device rests on the open edges of the screen and the keyboard. It also has a touchscreen, Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system, 1 USB 3.0 port, 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port (no VGA), a quad-core 2.16 GHZ Pentium processor, less than an inch thick, about 2.8 lbs., and comes with 4GB DDR3 RAM (upgradeable to 8GB) and a 500GB hard drive. These specs look attractive until one looks at the other specs that some users and reviewers have complained about: 2-cell li-ion battery, and a mediocre 1366x768 display. Also, this laptop does not have any version of Office, so if someone is looking at this machine for productivity, they’ll have to purchase, transfer or download some kind of office suite. The 2-cell battery gives this laptop a mobile life of about 4 to 4.5 hours, and the main complaint about the screen is that it is relatively low-contrast. Some reviewers have even complained that when this laptop is folded in tablet mode, there is a half-inch overlap of the keyboard to the screen. I personally didn’t like the placement of the AC port (upper right of keyboard in conventional mode) and the type of plug (90-degree) used by the adapter, and the port and the plug are not interchangeable with other HP laptops. In actual use, I found the half-inch overlap in tablet mode to be beneficial in holding the device because it serves as a grippable edge and your fingers of the supporting hand don’t have to curl around onto the tablet screen. Also, the AC plug and port placement seem logical in tablet mode (though would you use it in tablet mode while plugged into an AC outlet?). As for the screen, it is tolerable and I have watched a movie on it (using a USB DVD player). And being a touchscreen, the user can enlarge the image using fingers if necessary. Another complaint I have (or perhaps this is a “getting used to” aspect) is that using the HDMI port and an adapter to project images through a standard VGA projector requires the projector to be moved maybe 10 feet further back to achieve the same projected screen image size. Overall, this machine is an entry step into the world of hybrid laptops that with touchscreens that can fold over and be used as tablets. Similar machines with larger displays, longer battery life, and faster processors will cost several hundred dollars more than this one and be heavier. HP ought to at least offer a replacement battery with a longer life.

Nice little travel or second computer

This HP is a perfect laptop with which to travel. It is small and light and so much more versatile than a tablet - either Android or Windows. The Pentium processor is perfectly adequate for everyday computing needs. The 4GB of RAM is also sufficient for most everyday needs, and the 500GB hard drive will be hard for the average person to come close to filling up (as opposed to the tiny 32 or 64GB of memory on most tablets or 2 in 1 computers). And the ability to fold the keyboard 360 degrees backward to turn it into a touch tablet is really nifty - heavier than a regular tablet, but perfectly usable.
The 4 star rating is not because there is anything wrong with the computer - for hundreds of extra dollars and top components it could be nearly perfect. But I did not want to spend $1000, so I will happily use this as my travel and secondary computer. Hey, it is even better than many people's main computers!

I really like my laptop I purchased @ my local Best Buy store. It has all the features that I need and want. Although I'm not the brightest when it comes to using these things. But I get done what I need to. It's also easy to carry along if you need it for business or anything like that. And the price was reasonable.

I got this touch screen laptop because I was torn between getting a tablet or a laptop. I'm a graduate so I won't necessarily be using it for word processing anymore but I like that I can plug in my USB drives as well as memory cards. It is convenient, light weight and works great! This is great for students, or just simple entertainment purposes (Netflix, email, web surfing, apps). Has an HDMI port so I often plug it in to my HDTV to watch movies off Netflix and it works beautifully. The screen rotates completely and easily if you want it to feel more like a tablet, even though I honestly rarely flip it all the way because I love being able to use the keyboard. It quickly and smoothly switches back and forth from desktop to tablet views. I really love it, worth every penny.

I enjoy the versatility of the laptop/tablet configuration. It's not as f'ast as some laptops I've had, but it's fun and for the price, that's enough. Seems to be well built and sturdy. Everything works so far.

I was looking for a portable Windows 8.1 machine for work. What I found was a very useful compact device, with a touch screen for signature capture, capable of working in standard laptop, as well as tablet and presentation modes! The built-in Wi-Fi is very handy, as it allows my office to be almost anywhere I choose! With the 11.6" screen, it also fits nicely in my bag, so it goes with me most everywhere! Get one for yourself, mine is very busy!

I absolutely love this 2 in 1. I wanted something that wasn't too big. The 11.6" screen is perfect. It's big enough that I can fully do anything I would do on a larger laptop or PC, but small enough and light enough that I can take it anywhere. I compared all of the features to Dell's 3000 series 2 in 1 and everything is identical except the processor on the HP is a little better and the HP was much less expensive. I'm very happy!!

I bought this computer for going back to school, and it works nice...it's not the fastest computer, but works well enough every time I use it so I'm content. I just needed a computer small enough to haul around in between home and the library and something that I could do my homework on. Its a nice starter laptop, if you are someone that is extremely tech-savvy and need high speed, then this may not be the best for you..it often freezes.
