Bought this machine on sale two days ago. Great design, I really wanted to like it. Super slick and feels well-built. I travel often and as a result wanted to go from a 15" machine I've had for a number of years to an ultraportable, and since it was on sale I tried this instead of the ASUS I had my eye on. The service we got at Best Buy was fantastic- really great people in the computer department at College Station, TX. Brought this home and got the often-mentioned "fan error" right at startup. It shut off 15 seconds later, and gave the same error a minute later when trying again. Dead on arrival, back to the store. It's most of an hour drive for me to get to the Best Buy, which compounded my irritation. The folks at Best Buy said it was the 4th or 5th one of these that came back dead out of the box in the last two weeks. Overall really nice design, but poor execution and quality control. Wanted to like it but absolutely cannot recommend it to anyone until the QC problems are addressed.

Defective operating system twice out of the box

I bought the first HP spectre and it was giving problems out of box. Ran a sfc scannow and detected corrupted system files. No fix after hours. Brought machine back next day. Got a second one. Same problem. 6.5 hours on the line with HP couldn't fix it. Then discovered it was refurbished. Egregious. I paid for a new one and they exchanged it for a refurbished one that had the same system errors. Don't buy this machine. If you buy from Best Buy check the serial number to see if they pulled a fast one on you. Make sure it's new if you paid for new. if you buy an HP run the SFC scannow to make sure you don't have a corrupt windows installation. If you do, don't bother trying to fix it. Bring it back, get reparations, and move on.

Common failure, search x360 motherboard failure

I'd like to make people aware of the problems with the x360. My 18 month old laptop recently died. After researching the cause I have learned that it is a pretty common problem. A local electronic repair company in my small town said, "yeah, we have fixed several of those." Obviously a manufacture defect with a high failure rate. After trying for hours I finally talked to HP customer no-service. HP wanted $707 to fix a laptop that I already paid them $1300 for just 18 months ago. The right thing to do would be fix these failures for free or at least at their cost. Easy to say I won't be buying HP again. Anyway, it's not worth the hassle of buying this laptop, save yourself the grief & buy a different brand.

    DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE

I love this machine - BUT - I purchased it 2 months ago - to the day - and the charger will not work - does not charge - and now they are telling me it is either the adapter or the mini USB - and they have to send it in - and it will be TWO weeks. UNACCEPTABLE - Please understand - the machine is great and I love it - but should not break down after 2 months fairly light use - and then to have to wait two weeks to see what is wrong and get it fixed - hmmmmmmmmmm

I have purchased this model last Dec 2016. I have started facing ghost touch issue in a week time. I have replaced the faulty product and got a new device after 2 weeks. I have started facing the same ghost touch issue after 4 months and I am unable to return the product since I am out of the return/exchange policy. I wont recommend this product to my friends instead they can go with Surface Pro or Macbook.

    Poor quality control

Skip this laptop. HP doesn't understand quality control at all. I went through five of theseLoose trackpads, problematic USB-C ports and inconsistent keyboard feedback makes this a terrible buy. It's quite a shame as this laptop really has a lot of potential, but I guess HP is just so used to putting out half-baked products. Them and their support group couldn't care less.

$500 to replace the turn on/off button

The turn on/off button got stuck, They claim that it is not covered by warranty and the bill to fix the button is more than $500. On top of that it was a refurbished unit to replace the one that lasted only three months.

Disappointed in HP Spectre and Best Buy

My mouse constantly freezes up. Best Buy and Geek squad did nothing to help me. I exchanged it for a new laptop and experienced the same issue. The person who sold me the laptop was really helpful and effective, but it's very obvious why Apple is crushing it as a company and Best Buy is not.

This so called premium product from HP is failing to boot up after 3 days of using due to a fan error. I bought this from US but live in Australia and am currently going through a very painful process to get my brand new ultra expensive laptop repaired/replaced. Very disappointing!!

I got this laptop home and started downloading programs like MicroSoft 360, Dropbox, etc. When starting to browse, all the programs froze and the blue circle continues to spin! Nothing happens. I'm going back to my MAC PRO!!!
