After reviewing many laptops in the lightweight category, I chose the HP Spectre 360. I am glad that I did. The keyboard layout is very good. The weight is within my 3 pound limit. The sound (Bang and Olufsen) is also good. It is very responsive and the battery lasts long enough for me. I am currently not using it for more than a few hours a day and thus do not need to charge it more than every three days or so. That being said, it charges quickly.
I have not had the chance to use this as a tablet, but based on the laptop performance, this should be wonderful as well.

I am in love with my new HP Spectre X360 2-in-one laptop!! I love how light it is and that it is convertible which helps me when I am in the car or on a plane or in tight situations and when I am working with clients that are elderly and they need to sign on my laptop I can flip it over Flat. The laptop starts up very quickly and connects every single time. I have had no issues with connecting to my Hotspots or my jetpack or my home wifi. Great speed, has lots of features and it's so easy to carry. Best laptop I have had in years

My kid has had this for a week now and loves it. Very fast. Nice keyboard, nice display. From my little bit playing with it, installing security etc, its a pretty sweet little machine. If things change, I'll update the review..

I am quite surprised and impressed by this laptop. Performance is great for the price point and the versatility of being able to use it as tablet with a nice stylus is a welcome bonus. Build quality is also great-
everything feels pretty durable and solid. I've had a run of laptop mishaps and regrettable purchasing decisions in the past few years -- unexplained laptop screen breakage, liquid damage, and the purchase of a Lenovo Flex 4 14 that had a whole host of performance and quality issues -- but I've been using the laptop fairly regularly for the past couple months and the Spectre x360 is just fantastic. I primarily use this for coding, very low-end gaming, general web use (browsing and streaming), and some basic image work. I haven't noticed any performance or usability issues; however, I have noticed the following things:
USB-C is nice, but that's really your only video output, so get ready to buy an adapter if you want to connect this to an external monitor or projector.
Lack of USB-A ports. Most devices aren't USB-C and as you can see from the specs, you don't get many standard USB ports. If you're accustomed to using several USB devices you're now a position where you absolutely need a hub. I don't like using a hub unless I have to, so I wound up buying an inexpensive bluetooth keyboard and mouse to open up one of the ports for other random devices.
No memory card reader, but that's not a major issue if you happen to have a USB hub and/or an external card reader.
Screen hinge feels loose-ish, but I haven't notice it moving out of place. I guess I just feel like it should feel a bit more solid.
There is some minimal looseness/play in the touchpad when you press down. It's like a button that has a very small deadzone when you press/rest your finger on it. Honestly, I don't really notice it most of the time, but I occasionally find it annoying.
As others have noted, the laptop gets hot, but it isn't unbearable to me. The heat thing is to be expected with devices that have so much crammed into a tiny package.

This machine was so much more lightweight than I had even imagined and doesn’t feel cheap because of that. It has been efficient and seems to be hardworking. It also came with a pen and sleeve to carry it all in.

This laptop is everything that I wanted and needed and more. Originally, I purchased the Surface Book, and I returned that within a week. I opted for this model instead, and it was a GREAT decision. Plenty of power, very durable, great screen, really responsive. Also about half the price of the Surface Book... and the specs on this model were better. The battery life is REALLY long... I am a graphic designer, so I often run 2 or 3 Adobe programs at once. I have found the battery life to be very good, even when running those programs. And as a nice little touch, they give you a great faux leather pouch for the laptop that has a nifty pen holding slot. I didn't even need to go out to get another pouch. I would highly recommend this product.

My profile: A Sr. Software Developer.
I Run VMs Visual Studio and other tools without a problem! The main reason to get this is its portability. I bought a USB to HDMI and it becomes my main desktop too!
I'm not an artist whatsoever, but the included Pen really helps when documenting screen shots and other things that you need to share with others.
I also love how the keyboard feels, and using Windows Hello it unlocks with my face instantly!
Hope this helps on your decision.

Irritating USB-C / Faulty Port

After roughly 1 week of full business use, I've learned that I do not like the idea of having to charge via USB-C ports. Apparently there is a known issue with these machines and USB-C Port 1 failing. It just randomly stopped charging, yesterday.
Nothing wrong with the BIOS, machine hasn't been abused, dropped, damaged, spilled on, etc. No port damage. It just... Decided to stop working.
Really amazes me that HP still hasn't fixed this issue, seeing as it's been happening since at least (from what I've found) early last year, on the previous gen Spectre.
This type of machine isn't cheap - And there's a specific market that tends to hunt them down - Business folk, people who travel and/or need to be portable, without being weighed down. Good chuck of change to spend on something made with such cheap parts.
Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury or time to send it in to HP for a fix, as I have to catch a flight in 2 weeks. Thank you, BestBuy, for the 45 Day return policy. I'll be stopping by later today.
What kind of HONEST review would I be leaving if I didn't at least list the Pros?
- The processing power, when taking the size into consideration = Phenomenal. Definitely a little powerhouse. I haven't been able to throw anything at it that causes a slow-down, yet.
-Sturdy/Great/Responsive keyboard, when compared to the ZenBook I had prior to this machine.
-Backlit
-Speakers - They actually exceeded my expectations.
-The fact that HP includes a Pen and Case (It's often times the "little things" for me)
Neutral Data Points:
-Battery Life. Slightly below my expectations. Though, I'm comparing it to the 13+ hours I was getting out of my ZenBook. I've noticed with this machine that once you start opening up it's full processing power, the battery is somewhat quick to drain. I didn't have that happen with the ZenBook. I still manage to get 6+ hours of steady use, though, which is why I listed this under Neutral.
-The radiating heat that emanates from the rear/center section of the machine. I suppose this is to be expected - There are, after all, no moving parts. Which would include a cooling fan to suck the heat out. It's... "noticeable", at most. Not anything bothersome and it doesn't impede use.
-Back-lighting in the keyboard is a Pro, but the visibility when in heavy overhead light settings is not "easy on the eyes". I often times find myself turning the back-light off in these situations. Mainly for the Function keys. Don't need to see the keyboard to type, though. So, again... Doesn't impede use. Just a personal preference/observation.
Cons:
-Those irritating USB-C Ports.
-Faulty Port with less than @ least 30 days of steady use.
-Lack of quantity of Ports. I didn't know how inconvenient this would be, prior to making my purchase. The idea here is portability. Having to tote around a HUB is kind of the opposite of what you're wanting to accomplish.
Had I not been "luck of the draw", in regards to the faulty port/charge issue, I would've happily given a 5 star. It is what it is, though.

I love this computer - I never realized how great it was to have a computer that's so light. Thanks to the memory and ssd it turns on almost instantly. The speakers are surprisingly good for a laptop, too. I have mostly used it as a laptop so far, but I did fold it into "tablet" mode to read the paper the other day and really appreciated having that option.

So far, this computer has lived up to its billing as being a very good computer for its speed, ease of use, reactive touch screen as well an easy to use pen to write with on the screen. Have not had the heat issues that were noted in several reviews so hopefully HP has straightened out that problem. Overall it is a sleek computer that comes with a protective sleeve that is great use when it is carried within a back pack for school.

I had a larger laptop that weighed a ton and I got tired of carrying it around. I've always had good luck with HP computers and found this one at Best Buy. Most laptops have small hard drives which forces me to use external drives. This allows me to keep multiple projects on my laptop at one time.
I have to compliment Windows 10 also. My old laptop had Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 10. It was a real clunker. The current Windows 10 works smoothly. I like the facial recognition to log in.
HP has some great features. This comes with an HP stylus that works flawlessly. I also love HP Orbit which links my devices which are Apple products and are known for not working well with other brands. I can write notes or send pics instantly. The keyboard lights up with just the push of a keystroke.
Overall, it's just a nice little laptop that functions smoothly. The only thing that bothers me is that it gets hot in tablet mode. I have to be sure it's getting enough airflow.

Great help from the team at Best Buy in finding a new laptop. The HP Spectre is a beautiful, fast and light laptop and tablet. Using it for small team (tent) or large group presentations, writing in tablet mode, touch screen when most efficient - all are excellent. The battery life is 7+ hours, so great for travel or just to pick up and run to meetings. It's light and runs very cool. Excellent machine.
