Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the GEN2 12-in-1 USB Type-C Hub Docking Station's functionality. However, some customers found the USB-C cable to be too short, limiting placement options. The short cable length was a recurring concern among users. More information regarding the Ethernet capabilities would be helpful to avoid customer confusion.

It only mirrors with Macs and extends with PCs.

I have 3 monitors at home and thought that getting a docking station to connect all of them to would alleviate the use of the already limited USB-C ports on the 15” MacBook Pro. I thought it would extend them all but found that they only mirror which is not what I intended on doing. I called HyperDrive support and they confirmed that it will only extend monitors with PCs and not Macs.

So far so good but the usb c is really short so on a standing desk you have to have the entire unit on the top of the desk which is annoying but not a reason not to buy.

It’s ok but very bulky and cumbersome. Misleading because it has 10 gig ports but that is for data transfer not Ethernet. Best I ever got was 1gig download although direct with AT&T fiber I got 2.5gig. HDMI and sd card ports all work fine but it did heat up when being used as I used it which wasn’t too aggressive. I thought it should run cooler.

May be Perfect, Depending on your Setup

I have purchased two of these. One for a family member's Dell laptop and home setup. It worked perfectly for them with all devices, including an older monitor. The second is for myself. It works well with my Dell laptop but apparently has a minor compatibility issue with my newer monitor - causing very occasional screen flickering and rare distortion that requires reboot. Still, this works well enough for me that I will also keep it. I have found a hard time finding reliable docks, and this has been the best overall for the price. Plenty of great ports to plug in all of your devices!

This docking station is great if you’re using a Windows laptop, not great for a MacBook. I bought this in the hopes that I could use my two 4K monitors, keyboard, and mouse with one set up that could be used for my work Windows laptop and easily changed to my MacBook. The MacBook has to remain open to mirror the main display, which defeats the purpose for me. On the plus side it does have lots of ports for devices.

More of a Dongle than a Hub

This is essentially an oversized dongle with a thin. but large, case around it. It is very lightweight b/c there's mostly air inside. Any movement from any device plugged into it stands a good chance of moving this "hub" or plunging it off your desk. This does what it needs to do and it does it well, but this is a horrible in-between compromise between a simple Dongle and a real Hub which has its own power supply rather than just piggy backing on your Mac Brick.

Works well, attached USB-C cable is too short

This little hub works well. I mainly use it to add ethernet capability to a laptop that has no ethernet port, and it works perfectly for that function. The only issue I have with this device is the permanently attached USB-C cable. The cable is too short which significantly limits how the box can be placed near the device it is attached to. I would have preferred a detechable and replaceable cable.

the documentation sucked. It wasn't clear that I needed a monitor with certain access ports. Finally, I got some more direct directions and I've returned the hub for a refund.

I've used numerous docking stations in my life, and surprisingly, this one doesn't suffer from the quirks that you typically get in this price range. Great value and great performance, I just wish it supported high refresh rates via HDMI, no matter what resolution your monitor is, the HDMI ports don't support more than 60hz.

Great item. To connect you laptop into multiple displays and to add USB ports. It’s a bit pricey though.

I decided to get the HyperDrive since I have been working from home for a long time and needing a solution for multiple monitor displays, more inputs for USBs and power supply. This is such a great accessory for my Apple devices. The functionality is easy to use and offers super fast speeds. Compared to other USB-C hubs on the market, this one doesn't get as hot with its heat dissipation design.
