Couldn't be happier

I really love this tv. The picture is brilliant, the sound is clear, and I had it working 5 minutes after I took it out of the box. And I'm not what you'd call tech-savvy--quite the opposite.

An average TV for a guest room

I bought this TV for a room I'm not in much except for projects so I was not looking for a high content unit. It was difficult to program channels (no cable) and the picture quality required a lot of adjustment, after which it was still only fair. The other three flat screens I bought over a year were simple to program channels. Unlike the othe three flat screens I have. this one has to be viewed from the front or the picture is dark and unclear, like older units I've seen. I replaced it with another brand TV and moved this one to my kitchen. There it picked up more channels but the picture quality issues remained. The old tube Sylvania TV this Insignia took the place of had a much better picture and none of the channel programming issues.
This may be a TV for a guest room or other low usage areas but as a primary TV I do not recommend it. Had I read the return policy closer I would have taken it back. There are far better TVs for just a bit more and I have three of them. Actually four if I include te CRT Sylvania.

Works great and the price was right. We are using it to connect to a camera on a piece of equipment.

I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This tv has a great picture and good sound. I'm using an antenna and I am able to get a very clear picture. If you're on a budget and want a good little tv, I would recommend this one.

Bought one for my mom for her birthday. I hooked it up to cable with R,G,B and audio RCA jacks. Within a minute I was fast flying through the cable guide to the HD channels. They need no tweaking of brightness or contrast etc. Just lovely.

Picture OK, sound bad. Very bad.

Before I bought it, I saw some reviews that said the sound was bad. I had no idea how bad it could be. Now I know: It's really, really bad. I'm experimenting with external speakers but the bass/treble controls on the TV won't adjust them. I'm now looking for speakers that independently allow bass/treble adjustment. I'm sure the cost is going to negate the Insignia price advantage.

Using as a security monitor and the picture comes up bright and colorful, without distortions; a good purchase for good quality.

Good TV

I don't think the model I purchased is available anymore, but I really like the one bought. I use it mostly as a computer monitor via the VGA port and sometimes I will watch TV with it using Chromecast on an HDMI port. As a computer monitor the resolution leaves something to be desired but it works on my old desktop with no major issues. The color and brightness aren't great either but for $80 this also isn't a problem. For the money this TV/monitor works well and looks fine.

You cannot beat the price of this TV for the quality you get. It is perfect for a small bedroom, with any necessary amenities like HDMI ports.

Shopped for price instead of features. Decent picture and sound, but sometimes I will get the SAP effect, with foreign language or the spoken descriptions for the visually impaired. I have to turn off the TV to get back to normal. Does not display upcoming programming or a way to change channel automatically if preset.

I can't get the remote control to work!!

I can't get the remote control to work on this TV. The up / down channel button works but I can't put in a specific channel and go directly there... SOOO frustrating. Won't work with a universal remote either. Not impressed at all. Trying to get help from a tech desk or the store is impossible too.

Brand response from InsigniaCustomerSupport

We're sorry for the frustrating experience you've had tuning channels. Based on the information you provided, it would appear that you are tuning your local over-the-air channels using an antenna. With the transition of most local stations from analog to digital broadcasts, the channel numbers (more specifically the frequencies) have changed from an round number to one with decimals afterward. For example, what used to be analog channel 10 may now be 10.1, possibly with an additional 10.2 or even more subchannels. You can continue to tune to any analog channels by entering the channel number and pressing enter. If the channel is digital, to directly tune to it without using the channel up/down buttons simply enter the channel number exactly as shown by the tuner using the "." button which is directly below the number seven on the remote. To refer back to our example, tuning to digital channel 10.1 would require pressing One, Zero, Period, One, and Enter. We understand this may take some getting used to, but it's the process required for digital television channels.

The remote wouldn't work, the sound isn't great, and the colors are muted. Didn't love that you can only see it full on if it's placed at eye level - unless you stick something underneath it to angle it. I returned it.

Sounds like a cheap little radio, deal breaker. Ok otherwise but nothing to brag about. Program info on screen way to small. Didn't seem to pull in broadcast stations as well as my old analog/converter, and even with a good picture it hesitated between channels. Guess you get what you pay for at $89. Might be ok as a monitor. Returned and spent $40 more for the LG 24" which at first impression is twice the TV.
