Great TV for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally went into Best Buy with the intent of purchasing the Samsung 32" smart TV (the one currently listed at $230.00) for our guest bedroom. I took my time, comparing that TV with this 32" Insignia TV as well as the 32" smart Insignia TV. I ended up going with the 32" Insignia TV because I felt it had a better, sharper picture than the 32" smart Samsung, albeit not quite as bright. I also ended up purchasing a $40 dollar Roku stick which works great with the TV. I like Samsung as a brand; we have had a 40" smart Samsung TV in our living room for five years and the picture quality is still amazing. Unfortunately, Samsung has done a poor job at keeping the smart TV interface updated and has actually removed more apps than they have added...thus the Roku. Anyways, back to the Insignia TV: great TV for the price, nice picture, and I find the sound to be completely fine (despite what some reviewers claim). The five star review is of course relative to the price paid.

Terrible sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything is ok except sound. I exchanged the TV, but the problem remained. Then I had to buy speakers. So disappointed!

Nice TV for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up today on the holiday sale as an upgrade from an old Samsung tube tv that was slowing fading. So far so good! Love the slim design and big enough but not overpowering size so that we can eventually hide it in a cabinet if desired. TV did not come with ANY cabling of any kind as they all seem to be now. Had to do a little figuring/Googling to get it hooked up to our DVD/VHS combo unit. Turns out hooking up the old regular cable, plus a set of red/white/yel a/v cables and then doing a SCAN for TV channels with the DVD/VHS on got it going (it picked up the DVD player as a single Analog channel). It would not pick it up as a regular Component/Other (which the instructions indicated would occur with just the a/v cables). Will eventually swap that player out for a more modern one with HDMI connection only but for now we can at least see what the basic screen quality will be.

Good TV for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is based on the price point of the TV. Insignia is a bestbuy brand and does well. I went with the 32in 1080p version because of an open box deal that I got. Full price was still the best price had seen in a below 200 tv. If I hadn't found the open box I would have gone with a 720p version of the TV because you cant tell that much difference between 1080 and 720 because of the size of the screen. Pros: The price Cons: Is a bit grainy and I have tried to customize the viewing options but the grain is still there and I have tried multiple cords. The verdict good TV for someone on a budget who doesn't notice little details in watching TV. If your look for clear picture and this will be your primary TV spend 50-70 more and get name brand like Sony or Samsung.

Great except for the noise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.People complaining about the noise are not crazy. Search the reviews for "noise" and read the reviews. What they describe is accurate. The description of a "noise gate" is a good one. If there is silence, no sound comes out of the speakers. As soon as there is audio, a low frequency rumble is added to the program audio. It sounds like distortion but is present at all volume levels. It's most noticeable during dialogue scenes with no background sound or music. I tested multiple sources on both HDMI inputs and it was very consistent. I still gave it 3 stars, though, because the image quality is very good. Dark blacks, nice color, no noticeable light bleed. It's very light for its size so it can be put on swivel or extension mounts that might not normally be able to support a 32" TV. If you're using a sound bar or home theater system, you shouldn't hear the rumbling created on the built-in sound processor. The customer service rep at Best Buy was absolutely wonderful. He let me test another set with my laptop and confirmed that I was not crazy because he heard it, too. He offered the next level up (Insignia's smart TV of the same size) as an even swap but that one wouldn't play the AC-3 encoded audio from my laptop at all. So he gave me a discount on a Samsung which played audio without the weird noise. It's annoying that I had to pay another $40 to get a TV that worked but they didn't mind me wandering around plugging my laptop into TVs. "Doesn't bother me. I'm here 'till close."

Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am totally happy with this purchase. I wanted a 32 inch TV at a low cost. I am totally happy with this TV. Great picture, sound is fine, I played with the the sound setup and it is very good. Watching sports and the refresh rate is not an issue at all. Why spend more.

Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV during a promotion last year, and it has been working great! The customer service at Best Buy was also fantastic. When I first ordered and received the TV, it arrived with a cracked screen. All I had to do was bring it into the store and they quickly replaced it with another un-cracked TV! This is a perfect TV for bedrooms, and the picture quality is amazing.

Good Picture, Not So Good Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV for the bedroom in my new apartment since I wasn't able to take the TV from the place I was moving from. My previous TV was also an Insignia, however it was an LCD TV from a few years ago. This time I decided to go with the Insignia LED TV. I must say that the picture is a very big improvement over the previous LCD that I had. Also since this is full HD 1080p, it is a very beautiful picture. The downside though is that the speakers on this TV sound horrible compared to my last TV. I generally do not get soundbars or external speakers for TVs that are in the bedrooms, and up until now I really didn't need anything. However after only a few minutes of watching TV on this one, I grabbed an old computer speaker that I had and plugged it in, and now it is much better. The only other complaint I have is that there are only 2 HDMI inputs on this TV. I have a Cable Box, an Apple TV, and a PS4 that all use HDMI, and with this TV I can only have 2 out of 3 plugged in. This however was an easy fix with a selector switch. In the end, this is not a bad TV for the price. Despite Insignia being the Best Buy store brand, they actually make very good TVs, and other products in general. The picture on this TV is amazing, that is the best thing about it. It's cheap, it's got a good picture, and it's the perfect size for a bedroom, dorm room, etc. I would recommend getting some kind of external speaker to plug in to this TV for the sound. The TV has a standard 3.5mm audio out jack, so you do not need to spend a lot of money on something like a soundbar. A simple computer or any other portable speaker will work. The speaker I have is powered via USB, and since this TV has a USB port on the back, it is self contained. I would also recommend getting a selector switch if you need more than the standard 2 HDMI inputs.

Good picture, unusable bad speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a TV that was cheap but worth the cost. Considering I was coming from an old 720p TV I knew I"d be happy with the picture. I was, the picture for the TV is great for the price. Not jawing dropping beautiful, but expecting that from a TV at this price is unreasonable. I was very happy with my purchase until I turned the sound on. It was impressively bad. The worst speakers I've ever heard.I'm not even that picky. But this was B-A-D. Like, imagine the sound that comes from your smartphone's terrible speaker? Yeah, that but worse. There was even a weird background "sckhh" (imagine radio) noise. Ultimately I had to return the unit the same day as it killed the entire product for me. Whats the point of having a cheap TV if I have to buy a separate sound system to make it usable? If you have a separate sound system and just want a cheap 32'' TV, I recommend this. If you have to use the TV speakers, don't get this. The speakers aren't even passable.
