Great TV.. wasn't expecting that!

(Purchased during pre-Black Friday sale, but would purchase at full price!)
I wasn't expecting much. When I think of a good TV, "Insignia" and "Super cheap, big-screen" aren't things that drive a lot of confidence.
I have a few higher-end TVs (Panasonic 3DTV LED, Panasonic Plasma) and have seen some pretty terrible TVs (usually the cheap/big screen ones with no-name brands).
I picked up the Insignia for an extra room.. I was surprised to see "LED" and "1080p" assigned to it (opposed to LCD and 720p)
Picture quality is very nice, but will need adjustments out of the box (wasn't a fan of any of the preset modes), but thats to be expected.
Also didn't like the audio quality (it's passable, but for anyone who has used a soundbar or home theater, it was pretty bad) - For comparison, I was OK with the sound from the Panasonic LED.
HDMI inputs are severely limited (2 -- one on the bottom, one on the side).
This is not a Smart-TV, so no apps (I'm totally fine with that).
Other inputs include a cable jack, 1 USB (bottom), Component (1, also bottom) and I was very surprised to see both an Optical output (side) and even a Headphone Jack (side)!
Startup time is fast, quality looks nice, colors are vibrant and images sharp. I found the TV looked nice (I've seen some pretty ugly ones), but it does have a Standby LED (red, bottom right) when the TV is off -- I only mention it as that has caused some people to return other TVs (I have no issues with it)

I purchased this, within 9 months it went out. Got a hold of insignia warranty. They gave me the run around. They told me to drive 45 miles one way to take back to the store, the store couldn’t do anything for something that was purchased 9 months previous. I went back and forth for a few months emailing warranty department, they finally told me that I was out of warranty after the year. I said if we would of handled this when I first sent the email it would still be under warranty. They said nothing they can do and stopped answering my emails. When I call they act like they are gonna help, then put me on hold until I hang up. They left me on hold for 2 and half hours till I hang up the last time. DON’T EVER BUY ANY INSIGNIA PRODUCT. They do not stand behind their products. They do not care about their customers.

Solid TV at a great price

I was able to score this TV at a pre-Black Friday sale price, so I didn't expect much. I also didn't know much about the brand, but the reviews looked good. I went for it. I couldn't have been more surprised. The form factor of the unit is great, with a very thin bezel around the screen. Set-up is fairly easy, if not as deep as I might like, and I was able to get a good look out of BluRays and the DirecTV signal that didn't flatten out skin tones (a personal pet peeve) and had deep, rich blacks, vibrant, but not garish colors and white levels that were bright, but held detail.
I give it four stars for the limitation of only having two HDMI inputs and for not having more advanced set-up options. I'm also not crazy about the base being made of glass. This is a trend I've noticed in many newer TVs, and I'm not a fan.
Is it a reference-quality broadcast monitor good for high-end color grading? No. Is it a solid, good-looking TV for home use in a bedroom? Absolutely.

Only issue was with the compatibility of the TV remote

Picture quality is great. I used this TV for my dorm room at college and now in my fraternity house. It is the perfect size for me, not too big for moving around (fits in my sedan along with everything else quite easily) but big enough for a decent sized room. I have had the TV for almost two years now and have not had any problems. It is a decent price compared to other brands but it definitely has met my expectations. I would highly recommend this TV.

So I was going to be thrifty but wanted a 40 inch for my room. I was thinking it had to be LG or Samsung. but of course those are not in my budget. I come across this insignia 40 inch and think "this has to be garbage" after talking to the sales guy and seeing the display I decide to take a shot with it for the price and a best buy warranty will be cheaper than buying a named brand. took it home connected my comcast and my PS4 and played destiny in my room the whole night and looked AMAZING. now that said if you want to play a game or watch TV put it in the correct mode, out of the BOX the TV looks like poopoo it takes a little adjustment to make it right for you.

I would not buy another. You cannot get the info on next program and with an antenna if the channel cuts out the tv shuts down won't go to another channel . Turns off and on again.

Bought 1. I use antenna. I had a 28" insignia and was upgrading to this. 28" got all the channels. Scanned this and lost a main channel and others would freeze and or go blank. Talked to TV advisor and he said sounded like tuner bad. He said exchange it, so I did. Received second one and it got less channels than the first. I returned for credit

I got this TV Oct. 2015. We were watching a movie the other day and it just shut down. No indication it was going to quit on us or anything. We have had this TV for less than 3 years! I did all kinds of troubleshooting. Reset the surge protector, plugged in to another outlet. Went online to see if there was anything I could do. They said to unplug, hold in the power button for 45 secs. Then plug back and try it. Nothing! So disappointed. I would give it a zero star.

Excellent LED Screen for a PC.

I bought this LED TV to replace my 32" TV. I was looking at LED TV's that are bigger like a 36" but seems they do not make them anymore for a price range for this TV. I bought my 32" when it was 249.99 2 years ago. I bought this one because it had a middle base and work well for a big corner desk.
I installed the TV and first one went bad due to lines so got it exchanged and got a new one. When I installed the new one, I did not realized the base was made out of glass and was very heavy which is very nice because my table is not very sturdy. I am shocked they put a glass base for this TV.
I put in my HDMI from my PC and bam! It worked like a charm without even touching my NVIDIA monitor settings to get the correct resolution. This TV alone is probably one of the best TV's to use for a PC.
I tried a Toshiba TV and took me 2 hours to get it to work so I returned it and went back to Insignia. The best price for your buck and wow.... a glass base... can't believe it. If you are looking for a TV monitor that is big for your gaming, this TV is it. It just adds up and lines up perfectly without even going to the TV menu. It also works perfectly with the HDMI Cable Sound.

After losing my Vizio, I needed to find a replacement. I hate spending money on a TV, as it is not my priority- I just wanted something basic and decently priced. I was pleasantly surprised to find this one on sale, so jumped on it. It was very easy to set up, but I ended up having to exchange it, as I discovered upon powering on that the screen was damaged. I called my local Best Buy that night and the customer service rep was very pleasant, assuring me she would set aside a replacement for me. The next evening, I returned with the damaged TV to find my replacement waiting for me at customer service. It was inconvenient having to drive the 30 minutes back to the store, but was the fastest, smoothest exchange I have ever experienced (with no questions asked) and the replacement is working great! The display is just as good, if not better, than my Vizio...and getting a bigger screen at a lower price is a HUGE plus!
