Not much to say besides that it is a great simple TV at a great price. The picture and sound quality is great, especially for the price range and size. The TV is easy to operate and setup. This is the perfect TV if you are looking a for a reasonable sized TV for general use at a great price.

This is rated five stars as a result of value for the price. At full price, I would still give it four, but for the sub-200 Black Friday price, it is a sweet deal. Picture is good. Sound is good. Menus are simplistic and easy to navigate. I would love to have been able to purchase more than one! If this model goes on sale again, I would not hesitate to buy another.

The video quality is excellent. There are small artifacts on 720p images, but 1040i is crystal clear. The audio quality is certainly good enough for my needs, and plenty loud from the built-in speakers. The TV is relatively lightweight and was easy to mount on the wall, but was stable on its stand too.
The TV works well with over-the-air broadcasts. I was even able to get 2 channels over the air in city without attaching an antenna (many more with antenna, naturally). The add/remove channel settings could be better implemented, and I wish there was a guide that could pop up.
The biggest cons come from the features, which is why I only gave 4 stars. The menus aren't the greatest, but the biggest flaws are in the photo viewer. The slideshow has no loop feature, so this is a no-go for a public display, for instance. The slideshow doesn't randomize, and the speed can't be changed either. Some jpg photos don't display for whatever reason.
All-in-all, it's a good tv, definitely worth the cost, with a bad picture viewer built in.

We needed a few new tvs and went to Best Buy after hours of online shopping. Since we needed a few we didn't want to spend a lot of money. We saw this tv when we walked in the door and the price was too amazing to believe. There were 2 left. We only needed 1 but for the price we bought them both. I can't believe what a great tv it actually is.

I caught this tv at a great price during the wee hours on Black Friday. I was up cooking and actually planned on buying a 40 inch somewhere else. In 15 minutes it was sold out and I am OH SO GLAD that I was able to get one. Its great! Great picture, great sound and it was easy to set up. I compliments my bedroom completely. So glad I got one!

We bought two TVs, one for the study room and one for the basement. It served the purpose of having a secondary TV on every room. The color is excellent can almost compare to our main 55" TV. So far, so good. the only thing it doesn't have is the schedule review, may be this is the option for SMART TV. For the price we pay, it's worth it.

This is a beautiful TV- great picture, very good sound. I do use a surround sound speaker system for playing movie DVDs, but for regular TV shows the sound on this TV is excellent. I still can't believe how cheap it was - $249 for a 40-inch HDTV. Outstanding value!

Purchased this to use outdoors, and didn't want to invest a ton of money for something in a vulnerable place, yet wanted decent size picture and good quality performance. This fit the bill perfectly. At "black Friday" pricing, it cost less that most comparable 32" sets. Color, contrast, etc., are all on a par with comparable Toshiba/Samsung/LG products.

I love insignia tv's. I didn't do my research before buying this set. I would have loved 3 Hdmi ports this set has only two. Other than that the picture, sound and set up . . . Great.

This TV is really nice. Good picture, decent sound. Really I don't have any complaints. Sure it's not a 4K TV or anything. It doesn't have any of the bells and whistles. But if you are looking for a nice 1080p for a few hundred bucks. (We paid $300, I think it's less than that) you can't beat this.

This TV has worked out great for me thus far. No issues at all. Clear picture, it was easy to set up, and has very nice sound. What I like most is the stand that it came with. It sits much more sturdy than the VIZIO I purchased a year ago that is rather wobbly and worrisome that it may fall if bumped.

TV doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but I just bought it to fill a need. Had to put a TV up at work and it was one of the best for the price. Picture is good. I would guess you could see a difference if it was next to a big name brand on the display wall but for a TV in the office it is fine.

The TV is light and easy to carry and setup. The menu selections are also easy to follow. The resolution is great, images are crisp. Another brand at double the price might be 2% sharper, but I'd rather keep the few hundred dollars in my pocket. Keep selling this brand ! This is our second Insignia.

I spent a few months considering getting a new TV. One of my biggest issues was what size to get. The one I had was a big boxy one, and I was eager to switch it up for a flatscreen that would be easier to move and possibly smart. I ended up doing a lot of research to see if I should go for a smart tv, or just buy a flat and get a smart attachment (ex: apple tv, chromecast, etc.). I ended up getting this tv because the size was absolutely wonderful, big and beautiful, when I finally went into the store to check it out. I use it in my bedroom now, and ended up buying apple tv so I could use iTunes from my macbook with it. I've also got an iPad, and an iTouch that I also to stream from and view. I'm pretty happy with the size considering I watch a lot of subtitles movies and videos, so the text is easy to read.

The right price was the first consideration: check. 40 in: check. Clean clear picture: check. Wide frequency sound reproduction: check. The remote interface and controls easy enough as to require only minimum study: check.
If you don't need smart TV bells and whistles, this brand is aces.

Best buy had run out of the Samsung 40 inch as part of the halo Xbox one bundle and so they replaced it with this insignia. It was a great TV until the Samsung came in! If you are looking for a quality affordable TV this is the one for you!
