My old TV that died had buttons on the side so if I couldn't find the remote, I would still use the TV. This TV's remote does glow in the dark so you can spot it. I have a "chewer" puppy and perhaps that's why I'm against remote only TV operation. Still it has a great picture, 40" diagonal viewing screen, sound is good and economical price is great. And I can get a Universal remote as a backup if needed.
