Insignia 55" LED TV

I purchased this TV on Black Friday online sight unseen. I read the reviews and felt pretty confident that it would meet my standards. I have to say the TV is pretty good quality, especially for the $400 price tag I paid. I would say its equivalent to TV's that probably cost $800-$1000. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a starter LED HDTV and doesn't want to drop a thousand dollars and doesn't care about SMART or 3D or 4K.
Only negative is that my box didn't have the remote in it. I called Best Buy and they are having one shipped out to me, so therefore I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise it would have been 5.

I purchased this TV today for Cyber Monday online and decided to get it via in-store pickup. Buying it online, I was very hesitant as I could not preview the picture quality, and had never seen this model in person before. I got the 55" LED home and was able to set it up by myself - unit weighs very little (~30 lbs) and base only requires 4 screws to complete - Very Easy! Fired this bad boy up with my Xbox One and was blown away. The picture quality is fantastic for the price. Honestly, I couldn't imagine anything better for under $1000. If you are looking for a 55" and have a tighter budget, or are just looking for an awesome TV for a deal, this is the model you want! Great contrast, rich blacks, and 60 hrz refresh rate is plenty to give you an outstanding picture and viewing experience. Insignia really did a great job with this product: Very Impressed! What a treat!

TV not able to find and receive cable box signal

I should have read the reviews before buying this TV. I ended up returning the TV because it could not and would not find and receive a signal from my cable box. After multiple trouble-shooting suggestions from Geek Squad and other resources, the TV was never able to sync up with my cable box. It worked great with home theater and game consoles but just would not sync with cable box.

Excellent input lag.(Great for console gaming) Beautiful picture for the money. 55 inch screen. 3 HDMI ports.
I've had Insignia (46" LCD)Vizio, Samsung, Sharp and Panasonic LEDs and LCDs and none of them other than my 46 inch Insignia have come close to this TV as terms of gaming. They all look great but this TVs game mode is near instant. No clunky controller response, no lag on shooters. This TV is as good as you're going to get with gaming on your PS4 or X1.

THIS TV IS GREAT....... THE PRICE IS GREAT.....THE PICTURE IS GREAT.....THE DTS SOUND MAKES THE TV SEEM AS IT HAS A SOUND BAR BUILT INTO IT.....WITH A VERY FUNCTIONAL REMOTE CONTROL WITH MANY FEATURES......THIS TV IS GREAT....I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT...... I KNEW WHAT I WANTED.... AND AFTER COMPARISONS BETWEEN TV PICTURE QUALITY OF THE OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE AND SMALLER TVS......I SAW NO DIFFERENCE......EVEN THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE WAS SO HELPFUL AND SHE POINTED ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION......... YOU JUST CAN'T GO WRONG PURCHASING THIS TV..........

I bought a Sharp Aqaos 50" 4k smart tv and I HATED it. Picture looked to real. Really took the cinema lighting effects away. Motion processor sucked. I traded it in for this because I own a 42" insignia and never had had problems with it. This tv rocks. Good pocture. Dunno about sound, I use a sound bar. The cec, arc and all those goodies work great. Remote controls it all from sound bar to ps4. I'm telling you, insignia knows what they are doing. For not being smart, this thing is packed with features. I just don't need a smart tv when my ps4 is hooked up to it. I really don't need one if my ps4 and my chromecast is hooked up to it. I use the arc for my sound bar and use the hdmi on my soundbar for my pc. Ok so your not gonna find a bad a*s 55" tv for less that $399... now, on or after the holidays. Better go get one now. I may by another and take yours.

I purchased this TV on 12/2015 to replace my 51" Samsung Plasma. Overall, the TV is good. . It's not the best quality as you will get from a Vizio or Samsung but can't beat the price of $399 for a 55"!
Sound: Great sound! It does NOT sound like a radio. It has some good bass to it and quality sound. Almost like a mini surround sound.
Picture: This could be a bit better. I feel like my older plasma had a better picture. I needed this Insignia LED TV because of the lighting inside my house with plasma. The Insignia is not bright or colorful. Just plain. If you're too close to it, you can really see the pixels.
It does have 3 HDMI ports for convenience. Hooked up my chromecast, blu ray player, and cable box.
I have owned an Insignia Blu ray player for years and never had an issue so I decided to give this TV a try. If you're on a budget and looking for a beginners TV, this one is for you.

We bought this slim TV to replace our large monster of a flat screen and the picture had a small pixel line in the screen. We took it back after having it for about 3 months and it couldn't be fixed. We had to get a different TV.

Was reading reviews on a lot of tv's the past couple days. I had a 42" Insignia LED already and wanted to upgrade. I have had awesome luck with my other tv, even with my 2 year old son beating on the screen and scratching the screen, Insignia held up to it and was still functioning perfectly. The picture quality is awesome, I was worried about it looking pixeled but that isn't the issue. The sound quality is pretty good, I have a home theater system but I just got done watching Men, Women and Children, cried a little bit lol, and used just the tv sound and it was plenty loud. Definitly recommend this tv! 400 bucks?!? How can you go wrong!! Go buy one or two! lol

The most important thing is the picture quality.. and overall it's not bad. I customized the picture and changed a bunch of settings to improve the picture, and the contrast/brightness is quite good. The downside is that the viewing angles are fairly poor. If you're not looking at it head on you won't get a good picture.
Other aspects.. the remote controller is quite basic and cheap feeling, but it's fair. The TV interface is very simple and works well enough, though it doesn't show info about what show is coming up next like my other TV does over antenna.
I don't use the built-in TV speakers because it's hooked up to bookshelf speakers. Don't expect high quality speakers in the TV, though hardly any TV has great speakers. It does get quite loud though.
The TV is elevated quite a bit by the stands, which is a little annoying but will be fine for most people. It does have VESA mounting ability. Overall, it's a solid unit for the price and size.

Here's the absolute truth about this tv. I literally just picked it up and set it up 4 hours ago. For the money it's fine. If money is your reason for purchasing it then buy it. If you want a really nice, crisp picture that will make you say, "wow that looks great" every time you turn the tv on, look elsewhere. That said, while up close the picture on this tv looks a little washed out, from a normal 8-10 foot viewing distance the picture is decent...not great, but decent.
I plan to move from my apartment to a house within a year and a half, so obviously I don't know what space I'll have for a tv then, or what size I will need. The space I have right now is fairly large and I was looking to fill it with something that would be okay for the next couple years; money was the deciding factor. I didn't want to get something I'd feel bad about getting rid of in two years. If that sounds like you, that you're looking for the biggest tv at the lowest price, it's fine. If you're looking for a high quality product with an ultra crisp picture this is not it. The only individual who would think the picture is great is someone coming from a non-hd tv.

I bought this tv last saturday and have really enjoined it, my first experience with insignia brand was 8 years ago when i bought my house i bought two 32" flat panel tv's, insignia brand, both are still working just fine, i ha d a toshiba regza 46" in the living room that was 7 years old and it still works fine, only thing is it puts of too much heat, so i got this one, and it keeps a cool picture, i really enjoy it, i had bought a polaroid 55" ultra hd from another s tore,, had a great picture, but it was so life like, like i was in the tv with them, took it back, for the price of $399.00 plus taxes, i don't think you can go wrong.

I sold my 50 inch panasonic viera and purchased this 55 inch Insignia tv. The picture is pretty good and vibrant. The speakers are not the best, but I hooked it up to a sound bar.
It has 3 HDMI ports...would rather have 4 or 5, but I used an HDMI switch in one of the ports to get a 4th in there.
Its been running fine for 5 months. No problems! Gets a lot of compliments.

This TV's quality exceeds my expectation from an Insignia TV with the price of only $399.99. This TV's non-smart function could easily be solved by using a firetv stick by amazon. The picture quality is pretty good and I enjoy it! The sound is just OK but a soundbar could be purchased to enhance the home entertainment experience.
I would definitely recommend this TV to you if you are on a budget and looking for a large TV.

My buying experience was first rate and the tv is amazing. The television has a very clear picture and was easy to set up. The sound is great for general entertainment but I do suggest a sound bar or speaker system if you're looking for beefier sound. The quality for the price is excellent. First rate tv!
My experience with Best Buy was full of ease. I had to purchase this tv after being told a tv I'd selected at another store was out of stock. I'd purchased and picked this system up in stores within a week. You can't go wrong with Best Buy!!

We were more price driven than anything when looking. The set was under budget. Easy to set up. Added a sound bar that also was on sale and stayed within budget. One condition I had when looking was I did not want a Smart TV. This is our main TV and it has a great picture, the sound without the sound bar is fine but I wanted to hear everything that goes on and the sound bar delivers. The Music Choice channels now sound like our stereo system.

The screen was broken on the first one i bought , took it back to the store and they exchanged it quickly with no problems. Second tv has been working great for a month now. I have had 3 insignia tvs now and really like the brand . If you adjust your picture settings properly , you will have a great picture with this Tv, stock settings aren't the best .

Excellent budget TV

If you are looking for a large, inexpensive, "no extras" TV, this is the one. I have owned a 39" 1080p Insignia brand for about 4 years now and have no complaints, the quality is excellent, and it is just a basic TV with no extras and a great price. That being said, I already have a PS4 to hook up in the living room, so I didn't need a "smart" TV or to pay for anything extra. I just wanted a larger screen. This is not 4k, so obviously it might not be as sharp or Ultra HD as some of the higher end ones, but for this price and to get a 1080 screen at 55" is kind of unbeatable if you're like me and just want the larger screen space. Even at 1080 it looks great, movies look great, it has decent sound (I have external speakers hooked up to it anyway) and enough HDMI outputs to hook up a few things. It is also very thin, it is about as heavy as my older 39" is.
If you really are into investing in a high quality TV with 4k and internet connectivity and all the works, then you should look at one of the other brands, and there are some pretty good deals out there now. But you will spend at least $750-1000 minimum. On sale for $399 this is very hard to beat, if you're a person of simple taste like I am.

This TV looks great in my living room and for the low price is really excellent quality. The picture is excellent and the DTS sound is great. I've always purchased Insignia TV'S and I've never had a problem.
