Locks up, won't power on

I took it out of the box, put in batteries and tried to turn it on - would not power up. Tried it with AC supply with same result. Returned it to the store and got a new unit. It worked fine for about 2 weeks then locked up like the first one - would not power on. Removing AC power and taking out the batteries cleared the problem. It seems to work OK just on AC with no batteries installed, but I bought it to be portable. Best Buy should recognize this problem (probably software) and let people know how to get it fixed. Haven't decided if I'll take it in for service or just run it on AC.
