Unlike other low-cost replacement filters (non-Samsung brands), this filter meets both NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 standards. Most low-cost replacement filters only meet NSF/ANSI 42, which is mainly for removal of aesthetic substances, such as chlorine and other taste/odor components. NSF/ANSI 53 is for removal of health-related contaminants. The only negative is that it is manufactured in China if there were not good quality controls in place, which there is no way to know, but quality issues have been found in products manufactured elsewhere also.

And the price is very reasonable. I occasionally test the water coming from the fridge and these replacement filters continue to do a very effective job in filtering the water to keep it clean.

I have found many that are the "new" HAFCU1 that do not fit my unit. It works as great as OEM.

I am happy that it is located at the top right hand corner and is easy to remove and replace with the new one.

Water and Ice have been fine, and even though we have poor quality water, these filters have always given great taste.
