The quality disappointment was due to the weak elastic material used for attaching the device. The functionality disappointment was due to the extremely tight fit of the pen in the holder. I wrestled with the pen and the holder more than I "used" the device. I agree that a snug fit is desirable, but fit was so tight that it required too much effort to be practical. It simply was not what I expected.

Cheaply-made, Awkwardly Positioned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really hoped that Apple would have made a better way to store the Apple Pencil by either making it more magnetic or including some slot in the Smart Keyboard. I bought this thinking it would be a good solution. I wasn't impressed. The material is cheap. Once strapped-on to the Smart Keyboard Case, if you fold the case to use it as a keyboard, the Apple Pencil is not in a good location for use - you have to slide it up and down to get it re-positioned depending on how you use the iPad. Would not recommend.

If the goal is to keep the strap on all the time, then it does not work with Otter Box Defender Series cases for the 12.9" iPad Pro. If the Defender Series case is your choice, then I would recommend a different strap. Otherwise, go with a folio where a strap makes more sense.
