I am reviewing this item low because it did not work for me. You would not buy it as a last minute item as it may take steps to get it to work.

When I asked a team member to recommend a product for what I needed, this is what I was given. It doesn't work for me.

This product didnt work as expected, windows 10 wouldnt recognize the second monitor when using this adapter.

Link did not work. Company gave me temporary link. Poor picture quality. Never did resolve my issue

The item did not work and I was told by my university's IT person that it was not recommended.

Had to take back to store wrong one, was not compatible with projector

Purchased on their recommendation and didn't need it

I have used a large number of DisplayLink adapters that provide the same services and they work great. This device is based on a different chipset (Trigger) and it doesn't work very well at all. It is limited to 800x600 on a USB 2.0 connection while my DisplayLink adapters will go to 1920x1080. At the same time, I was seeing significant sync problems (the picture was going jagged) and there was nothing that could be done to resolve it. Pay the higher price for a DisplayLink adapter and you will be a LOT happier (I have no relationship with DisplayLink other than being a satisfied user).

just what I was looking for to set up an external monitor for my pops toshiba all in one, my only problem was the driver which it promps you to download from insignias website but if you having problems to install on win 10 go to frescologic website and download the UPDATED driver from them, that solved my problem

After installing the driver for this product you must restart to finish the install, the computer goes into a black screen and will not start back up. After personally researching and troubleshooting I found that the driver for this product has been a common problem for many people for a long time and no one has found a way to fix this problem and make it actually work. I spent an hour on the phone with insignia support trying to get this product to work. They concluded the driver will not work on my computer which is running windows 10. The box says it works with windows 10 but the driver installation locks up windows 10 every time.

Device: Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) The device works as intended. I needed to use an extra monitor for my work computer and once you've downloaded the updates and restarted your machine it works fine. One thing to note: my computer being an older computer (I updated it to Windows 10) has older USB ports. The device still works on my computer to extend my display to another monitor; but because I don't have a USB 3.0 port on my older work computer, the display's max resolution settings is 800x600. For the time being that's good for me, but it's something to note for someone that doesn't have USB 3.0 ports and may want their 2 monitors to match up to the same resolution.

So I bought this for my mother because she wanted a second monitor on her All-In-One, but I couldn't get it to work, so I tried it on my system, plugged it in, downloaded and installed the driver and Oh My GOD I don't think I have ever seen a driver so viciously attack my GPU driver before, and I needed a professional grade uninstaller to remove the product driver and it's trace files before my GPU acted normal again. 1 star is really too generous for this

First off the VGA to USB adapter is essentially useless as a plug and play device and doesn't help the technology gap! Solving the problem of new laptops only having USB ports with this product to connect with VGA data projectors puts you into the next realm of torture because this product requires you to install drivers and new laptops don't have CD/DVD drives either! Luckily, or "Yay, I'm in for more frustration," you have the download option but then you need to find where the actual link to download the driver is from their web site - which they clearly state is under download tab, then like normal places you click on the OS you have (i.e. Windows 10) but there is no actual link! I finally discovered it was under 'English' - really? English? Yeah that's a real intuitive way to identify where the download is...and then I could go on about the zip file and that the file defaults to your download folder..anyway, this is a poor product and you should try something that doesn't suck first

Using a Lenovo Yoga 710 (Win 10). Installed drivers that came with the Dongle, nothing. Installed the ones from their website, nothing. Tried it on three different monitors (an old VGA monitor, a TV with VGA, and a data projector). My computer recognized the monitors, could tell me their resolutions, and the monitors reacted as if they had data incoming, but I only ended with a black screen on the second monitors. I should count myself lucky since I've heard other people have had their main monitors go black permanently. Due to this risk, I didn't try it on my other computers, so have to return it.

It does what it is supposed to. My only word of caution is if you are running windows 10, download the driver from the insignia website before plugging it in to the computer. I didn't and it blacked out my screen. I got it fixed but, do it right the first time.

Not only does the website in the instructions NOT have the drivers to download (I had to call customer service), the product does NOT WORK. As in, I downloaded/installed the required drivers, plugged it in, and my computer can't detect it. Now I have junk drivers installed on my computer for something that won't work. I'll be returning this product tomorrow. P.S. The first time I tried to purchase this product, I visited the area in Best Buy 3 times. NO ONE asked to help me, despite the fact that the cashier knew I needed help.

A necessary piece of equipment for my HP that only has sub ports but needs to connect to a projector for power point presentations (VGA). Works great.

I would give zero starts but that isn't an option. 1 Start is way to generous. My Windows 10 Lenovo PC did not have HDMI only USB so I went to BestBuy to look for a USB to VGA adaptor. I found the Insignia product. It was the only USB to VGA adaptor. I made the mistake to buy it without reading reviews. I got home plugged into my laptop. It asked me to run/install/restart...easy enough. it then goes to black screen and i lost my entire PC. Run from this product. I'm heading back to see if Geek Squad can recover my laptop but after reading reviews i could be screwed as i've now read other forums and this is a common problem. Why Best Buy would sell this in the Windows section when it clearly shuts down windows 10 machines is beyond me

I have spent over 4 hours with this, 3 of which was on the phone with tech Insignia Tech support and have downloaded the drivers several times at their request. After 3 hours they said to return all four adapters as they are bad. Really. I can see one being bad but 4. I don't think so.

This product doesn't work with Windows 10. The guys at insignia need to fix the driver issue. Way to go! Unfortunately, I was past the return policy before I realized that this wouldn't work for my setup. I bought two for a dual monitor setup. $80 down the drain
