Do not buy this processor. It is plagued by microcode problems and WILL fail at some point, irreversibly. Intel has acknowledged the issues and defects in their 13th/14th gen processors (anything that uses over 65 watts) and will not issue you a replacement or any kind of meaningful support. They will ask you to file RMA after RMA until maybe you get sent a new one, and even then, that one will fail as well. Take the money you would spend on this processor and switch to AMD.

This is by far a huge upgrade compared to my 1st gen AMD ryzen 7 1800x cpu. Noticed huge improvements as far as system repsonse and load times. Have put it to the test as far as gaming and the stuttering inwasngetting before with the other chip definitely doesn't exist anymore. Temps do run a little hotter with this CPU but it was considered normal range and i have an adequate liquid cooling system (Corsair hi100 cue). Installation was simple and easy. Just wipe away old excess thermal paste and apply the new. I bought the corsair paste kit that comes with a stencil and mskes even easier for reapplication.

This is the right cpu for most people building a gaming pc. You really need a 360mm aio cooler for this thing because it runs very hot but it's because a lot of performance is being squeezed out of this thing. Also make sure it pairs well with your graphics card because you do not want it bottlenecking your expensive graphics card. If you are going with something like a 4080/4090 gpu, this might not be enough for you. Otherwise it seems to keep up pretty well. At times I've hit 95-99% gpu usage on my 4070 ti super so it seems to do well even though there is a slight theoretical bottleneck there.

I update my computer core components only once in a great while. When I do, I try to get as much bang-for-the-buck that I can for a limited budget. (Yes, AMD makes great stuff, for a host or reasons I went Intel). For a little bit less I could have gone 13th gen, but stepping up from a 14 yrs old 2nd gen Sandy Bridge, I wanted the latest for the next 14 years. So the real angst was i9 or i7. Given that I could drop in an i9 at some point in the future, and I was budget shopping, i went with the i7. You can read all about the differences elsewhere. I decided I wouldn't see the performance difference in my use. The biggest question you may have is that yes, it can run hot (according to the onboard sensors). However, this is only at maximum load which is not a common occurrence through daily usage and gaming and is not noticed other than to hear the fans spin up. I made sure all the latest mainboard and CPU firmwares were installed before starting up. The system has never locked, randomly rebooted, or blue screened. Right now I am running everything at base level configuration. Maybe someday I'll see what a little OC'ing will do. but for now, the generational performance boosts are more than enough.

Productivity and Gaming Monster But Runs Hot

Upgraded to this from a 12900k, only did so because i was having problems with my 12900k, other than that i wouldn’t upgrade. Even with 8 fans and a 280mm nzxt AIO, it instantly thermal throttles during cinebench. Compared to my 12900k that doesn’t thermal throttle during a 10 minute run. If you plan on only gaming, i would get a 7800x3d over this all day for the better power efficiency and less power draw. But if you’re gonna be doing any kind of productivity work, the 14700k is the clear winner while only being around 3-4% slower in 1440p and 4k gaming. I got this for $380 so not much more than 7800x3d. Hits mid 50s during gaming and idles in the 30s. Actually runs surprisingly hotter than my 12900k which already ran hot. If you’re using a 12th gen or 13th gen cpu and upgrade to this, be sure to update your bios beforehand or you won’t be able to boot.

A Powerful Processor for Gamers and Productivity

The Intel Core i7-14700K is a 14th Gen processor that offers excellent performance for both gaming and productivity tasks. It has 20 cores and 28 threads, with a base clock of 4.3GHz and a boost clock of 5.6GHz. It also supports PCIe 5.0 and 4.0, DDR5 and DDR4 memory, and Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0. I was impressed by how fast and smooth this processor ran on my system. It handled multiple applications and games without any lag or stuttering. It also scored well on various benchmarks, such as Cinebench R23 and 3DMark Time Spy. The processor was easy to install on my motherboard, which is compatible with Intel 700 and 600 series chipsets. The only downside of this processor is that it consumes a lot of power and generates a lot of heat. It has a processor base power of 125W and a maximum turbo power of 253W. It also requires a good cooling solution, as it can overheat with a 240mm water cooler. I would recommend getting a high-quality air cooler or a larger liquid cooler to keep the temperatures in check. Overall, I think the Intel Core i7-14700K is a great processor for anyone who wants a powerful and versatile CPU. It offers a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Intel Core i7-13700K, and it comes at the same price of $409. It is an attractive upgrade for older LGA 1700 systems, and a worthy competitor to AMD’s Ryzen processors. If you are looking for a processor that can handle any task you throw at it, you should definitely consider the Intel Core i7-14700K.

The Intel Core i7-14700K is a powerhouse of a processor, offering impressive performance across the board. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Right out of the box, the i7-14700K delivers outstanding speed and responsiveness, making it a fantastic choice for gaming, content creation, and multitasking. With its high core count and clock speeds, it handles demanding applications and heavy workloads with ease. The performance boost is noticeable compared to previous generations, and it pairs well with high-end GPUs for a top-tier gaming experience. The processor’s efficiency is another highlight. Intel’s new architecture provides excellent power management, and the integrated graphics are a nice bonus for lighter tasks or troubleshooting without a dedicated GPU. However, the price point is where the i7-14700K stumbles a bit. While it’s a top performer, its cost can be a tough pill to swallow, especially when compared to competitors like AMD’s Ryzen X3D series. The Ryzen X3D offers similar, if not better, performance in some cases, often at a more competitive price. This pricing discrepancy might make the i7-14700K a less attractive option for budget-conscious builders. In summary, the Intel Core i7-14700K is a stellar processor with top-notch performance and efficiency. It’s a solid choice for high-end builds, but the price could be a limiting factor when compared to rivals like the Ryzen X3D. If you’re looking for peak performance and can justify the cost, it’s definitely worth considering.

Honestly it's a really good CPU. Got it recommended to me for my 5060 ti and I'm loving it! Running Marvel's Spider-Man at 120 fps with no drops and it's amazing. Highly recommend if you're a mid-tier PC user like I am.

Upgraded from a 12600k and i am extremely happy, Noticeable difference in gaming and productivity. I updated bios prior to installation and i have the CPU undervolted. Under full load i dont go above 80 degrees and in gaming im around 50-60 degrees. No issues thankfully and i hope it stays that way. Loving it!

Coming from an i7-10700k to this and a DDR5 MoBo upgrade is a game changer. She runs a little hotter than the 10th gen unit, but nothing to write home about (42C under heavy load instead of 34C) especially since I'm using a 360mm AIO. I'm no longer bottlenecked, and the difference is beautiful to experience. Have it paired with 64GB of 6,000 DDR5 and a Gigabyte Windforce SFF (Small Form Factor) RTX 5080 and I couldn't be happier. Case temps aren't causing my room to heat up any more than before (with the 5080 they're actually lower than the previous 4070 Ti GPU) and having all those extra cores makes a noticeable difference. If you're debating between this or an i9 option, just get this one. The price difference to go to an i9 isn't worth the extra money for the performance difference you see (or rather won't see).

Upgrading from a i5-12600k, there were massive improvements to performance. Have run consistently for a month and no issues to note. The CPU runs hot under load but stays within expected range under stress test
