This the 2nd Ion Scout speaker we've bought (this one was a gift). Battery life seems good but randomly doesn't last long between charges (sometimes a full charge lasts several hours, other times just an hour, even under the sun)

Very good sound and easy connectivity. Multiple ways to charge, although I use the plug as the primary source. Great to use outside while being charged by the solar panel.

This a handy and useful little radio. The solar doesn’t work the best but the hand crank does work to charge the battery. It has good sound and the battery has good life. I’m happy with the purchase and works great when you need music on the go.

I love the radio and its features. I did not expect it to take so many hours to charge only about 10% battery.
Also, the battery life indicator goes from full leds to HALF after 15 minutes use. I dont understand. I will continue to try it further.

I am currently waiting on my third Survival Scout that should be delivered tomorrow. The AM/FM tuner didn't work on the first radio. No fuzzy noise when turned on, no noise at all. Bluetooth and battery worked fine. Everything on the second radio worked but it wouldn't hold a charge. It immediately died once unplugged from an outlet. I am hoping third time is a charm will apply for me.
My dad has the exact radio and is the reason I am even giving it a third shot. He must've won the Ion Audio Survival Scout Lottery as he has no problems with his first and only radio. Everything functions as it should. Wish Ion would take more pride in making sure their products work as they should...

took a LONG time to charge up the battery initially, but after that, works well & recharges fast. Only annoying thing is you need to hold the button for 2-3 seconds to turn on & off

Topic of battery: It will say 100% out of the box but thats incorrect. If you try and power on without AC power it won't work even if power lights indicates a full battery when plugged in. You need to leave it plugged in for almost TWO days then try and it should power on via battery power. This worked for me and now it's in working order. It's almost like the lead battery is dead and this thing has a very slow charge. Other than that I love this speaker. Will update if I have any issues going forward.

It is a handy little speaker. It does not hold charge for as long as would like when not in use. And the solar charging takes a long time.

The sound is okay but not great, so only 4 stars. I charged it completely and listened to the radio (it tuned in lots of stations, so it must have good reception) and connected the Bluetooth to my phone. The sound was what I expected at this price point. I bought it for decent sound at the lake, in the garage, in the back yard, etc. I have other better quality Bluetooth speakers for other situations. I have not yet needed or tried the hand crank or solar panel to charge it. So far I would certainly recommend when on sale, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

I bought for camping but use it for yard work. Has great sound especially on Bluetooth, but I like it most for listening to my classical radio and NPR stations. My wife steals it for listening to baseball games.
The solar feature is a plus, but I find I get best power results from plug in.
The mike feature is unique but handy.
