My situation? I had a 4 TB 3.5" HDD that became my backup in a PC that I was getting rid of, in favor of a huge 27" AIO touchscreen desktop (also bought at BestBuy - it's great BTW). But a 4 TB HDD, with all my company's website stuff on it, was too much to just dump. I needed to find an enclosure that I could use to take the HDD with me wherever I went (we run a major event with lots of video & audio use), so that if I needed something stored on our NAS, I wouldn't need to rely on Internet speeds to download a 4-6 GB file from the NAS via VPN or other methods. This enclosure fit the bill perfectly. It holds the 3.5" HDD very securely. I will say there's a bit of a trick to getting the HDD to slide on to the connector inside, but it's more a finesse thing than difficult-to-do. Once secured, simply slide the aluminum frame back on and secure it with the set screw, and you're done! No plastic outside frame to have to worry about cracking. With USB 3.0, I know I'm getting the fastest transfer speed possible with this HDD, and the included stand allows you to keep the enclosure in an upright position if you want, or you can simply lay it flat on the desk. I've used this for over a month, and it has yet to even get warm, let alone hot, so clearly airflow isn't a problem. Be aware - this is NOT a USB-powered enclosure - it comes with its own power supply. Overall, if you're looking for a secure, portable solution for any 3.5" HDD, this is the item you need!

The exterior of the enclosure is made out of aluminum and appears to be quite sturdy, the interior is made of cheap breakable plastic, but once the hard drive is installed it's not really an issue. There are no drive mounting screws, the hard drive simply snaps in place and held by the aluminum enclosure. No problems or issues and no drivers are required to use -- nice, inexpensive drive enclosure!

Item was missing the 12V DC power adapter. Contacted the company. They said they would order one and send it to me. After about a month, I am still waiting. So it is hard for me to review the item because I have not been able to use it yet.

I really like this enclosure. Protects my 12 TB hard drive. The material is quite solid and gives me trust with the product. I highly recommend it!

Inserted old drive. Plugged it in. Worked like a charm. Using to transfer data from old drive to new PC. Attractive design. Easy to use.

I like this because it's all metal construction. Also, it was easy to install my HD in to use as an external drive. So far, so good as far as working as supposed to.

This was pretty easy to install. I would give 5 stars but it runs a little warm in my experience.

I picked this up to replace an older hard drive enclosure with serial connections, I am moving from an old computer to my new one. It was a tight squeeze getting the drive into this one but it is easy to connect and use and the transfer of my files has gone seamlessly

Easy to use. Was able to save all my files from my hard drive. My old PC's motherboard got fried and made the PC inoperable. With this product I was able to save both my files and set aside the hard drive for another PC.

I ordered this j5create drive enclosure from BestBuy after I could not find these devices at any "brick-and-mortar" stores in my area. It was easy to setup and it is working fine. I do not use it frequently. I needed it to get access to files on the hard drive from my old PC which failed suddenly.

Pro: Nice enclosure that does the job. Con: Tends to disconnect from USB bus when hit with static discharge such as the kind produced by rubbing feet on carpet.

This product was simple to install and use. You open the enclosure (need a small Phillips head screwdriver to do so), slide the hard drive into the enclosure, put the enclosure together, screw the small screw back in, connect the power cable and the USB cable, power it up and you're ready to go.

Bought this to connect a Win 7 hard drive to a new Win 10 machine. It has worked as planned. The USB 3.0 connection made the data transfer a lot faster than USB 2.0. The plastic clips were a little too tight and had to be trimmed a bit but that was easy to do.

Just what I needed to recover documents and pictures from old computer.

Had horrible luck with SATA enclosures from Amazon, so this was a huge relief. Very secure and very clear if it is assembled correctly or not. Happy to use my old hard drive again.

This was the first time I had to purchase an enclosure for one of my hard drives. I'm glad I went with this one because instructions were simple, and it has so far held up nicely. It's been a few months, and I wanted to wait to write this review in case something happened to the case. If you're looking to make an old hard drive into an external, this case is a good choice to go with.

I had a 256G drive I salvaged from an older iMAC. I loaded into the case hooked it up and turned it on and it is running great in interface to my iMAC. Only slight hitch I had was getting the drive seated in the case. The case tabs that snap into the drive guides were a little tricky to get expanded and it took a couple of tries to get it done.
