If you are backing up to a hard drive on a new MacBook, you should strongly consider getting this cable. It helps maintain the best possible speed for data transfers as opposed to a USB adapter.

Wish it was a bit shorter. Otherwise a must have for anyone with a new MacBook Pro or whatever else is there with USB-C.

The speed is great and makes transferring large amounts of data quick

I needed an external drive to use on my new mac, however many of the new drives even those that were for macs didnt have the correct cable. Those that did were expensive and only went to 1 tb. I was able to buy a 2tb drive from costco for a great price and then plug this directly in vice a standard usb cable. Problem solved with out spending a fortune.

Need to this accessory so I purchase it here because the price is right.

Bought to use with phone & tablet, but they don't provide enough power for some USB HDs. Also appears Android can only address 2 TB. Probably meant for laptops.

J5 Create makes great products. If you need a USB 3.0 micro B to USB Type C cable this is a good option. I only found it in white. That's the only downside.

I, as probably many of you do, review products which I know are faulty. Don't get me wrong, I have in the past sat down and reviewed all my purchases from Best Buy. I bought this cable from Best Buy and connected my WD drive to my Mac. I transferred files to the drive and knew it was copying really slow for a "USB 3.1" cable. I had an identical usb 3.0 cable and recopied the files which went MUCH faster, so I concluded it was the cable. I went even further and plugged each cable in and seeing which bus they showed up on. The cable I had previous showed up on the 3.0 bus while this new cable showed up on the 2.0 bus. I thought maybe I will bring my computer, drive, and spare cable with me to demonstrate it for whom ever I dealt with, but figured that not necessary. I explained it to the girl and she kept telling me it is opened and past 14 days. I said what happened to being an "Elite Plus" member who are supposed to have 45 days to return an item? She told me that it didn't matter because it was opened...I told her that it was defective and if it worked I would not be here. Finally, I was just so frustrated, I told the girl to forget it and to just keep the cable...I wasn't going to make a big fuss over a lousy $20 cable. I haven't looked but I'm willing to bet the cable was placed back into stock with a discount because the seal was broken! I wrote to Best Buy just to let them know how displeased I was, but I haven't received anything from them, other than the plethora of spam I get from them multiple times daily. I went a little off track on this review, my recommendation is not to waste your money on this product.

I’ve heard great things about J5 products but haven’t used any up until now. I bought a similar cable from Amazon made by them. The build quality of the Amazon cable is poor. Not long after I received the Amazon cable, the outer shell for micro-USB part of the cable started to come off. My new J5 cable does not have the shoddy build as my Amazon cable and has worked flawlessly with my MacBook Pro with USB-C.

I have a USB3 dock that takes this USB C to the other USB and allows one connection from my MAC BOOK PRO to 2 external monitors..... so sick!!!

its a cable. it works. good length and quality....

I bought this to see if there might (on the off chance) be speed increase over a USB-C to USB 3.0 hub adapter, which I found no difference between the two. If you are looking to not have to worry about adapter hubs and dongles, then this works great with no speed loss (and no increase). It works great for that.

I need a cable such as this and the length was incredible. Such as this was it were perfect for my need. I can use it like no other ! thank you again for a most excellent product.

This appears to be a very durable and fast connection for anyone using newer technology requiring the USB CABLE to thunderbolt connection.
