Our son begged us to get this game for months. He seems to like it, but he hasn't played enough to give me much to work with. Usually after he has played awhile, I get more and more feedback. So far so good. :)

Assassins Creed Unity's launch is a similar comparison; in which may bugs needed to be addressed (challenge load times****, minor gameplay glitches, controls on thumb-stick**). That being said, both games, bugs aside (ACU bugs a year later are free and clear), are fantastic!
Furthermore, Mad Max was one of the best games of the year! However, it feels that developers spent more time on Mad Max, as Just Cause 3 felt a little underwhelming. For a perfect score on Just Cause 3 it would need much more time before release (being a Grand Theft Auto world and all); developers' needed more tweaking of specific things; such as expanding the gameplay/sea-life/ structures/AI/ and simple glitches patches before release!!
Just Cause 3 is definitely not the game of the year, although at times, you release it really could have been; given more time and effort (but again, developers can only do as much as the budget they were given).
A solid 8/10 for me.

I wasn't expecting much from this game, but when it went on sale and I had finished Fallout 4, I wanted something fun and not too involved. Just Cause 3 provided that. I will say that you certainly could get very involved in this game and try to unlock all the skills and bonuses to the skills, but you really don't need to. This game is a ton of fun to just go around and blow up whatever you feel like blowing up. The action feels pretty slick, and I lost plenty of hours just gliding from area to area because it was fun to unlock all the areas. It is a blast to take down 4 helicopters with RPGs without them killing you. Bugs are still there but don't ruin the game. I had a few crashes that required a restart of the game, but not a lot. The initial load time is a bit long, but after that it is not bad at all. This game is worth it on sale for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed Just Cause 2, and let's be honest - no one plays this series expecting riveting story telling. The shear level of destruction and mayhem you cause in this game is incredible, and a notch above it's predecessor. I played several hours following the storyline, then diverted to finding bases and wrecking havoc. It's really exhilarating stealing a chopper, getting hit by SAMs missles, then as you're parachuting away from the crashing rubble, you grapplehook onto an apache, and continue where you left off. This game is always taunting you to be creative in your approach, and the variety seems endless at times. The new wingsuit is a welcome addition, and completely changes the way you traverse through the environment. I must have clocked over 200 hours on JC2, and this game will no doubt be the same.
But it is plagued with some problems which prevent it from reaching 5 stars. The story is forgettable, and like in the last game, very predictable. The camera angles seem very finicky, and the motion blur effect while rotating around make it problematic at times to focus - whether it be driving, or flying. During flying it becomes tedious as you're constantly rotating to view below, or behind. The chopper isn't bad, but when flying with the F/22s it can prove to be disorienting. By no means is this unbearable.
The loading times on the PS4 are ridiculous. It's frustrating to wait several minutes to respawn - some have attributed this to memory leaks. Let's just say, I became more careful to avoid the extended wait times. The other issue that arises quite frequently is FPS dips, which can drop to what feels like 15 FPS, and really ruin the immersion of destruction.
Pros:
1) Amazing visuals, the water diving is incredible and some of the best I have seen on a console.
2) The shear level of destructible is insane, and you'll find yourself discovering bases just to wreck havoc.
3) JC2 car driving was terrible, this is definitely a notch-above and in the right direction.
4) If you enjoyed JC2, you'll love this game. One of the few games where the price is justified.
5) Highly re-playable
6) Wingsuit is a blast and makes moving around more fun
Cons:
1) Forgettable story
2) Annoying AI: Can spawn 3 feet from your direction after you've just cleared an area.
3) Camera angles can be troublesome.
4) Low FPS
5) Loading times can be 2 minutes + , with some reporting 15 minutes.
I hope the some of the above cons can be addressed in future patches. Regardless of the negatives, this game is well worth the purchase, and I will no doubt be playing for a long time to come.

In Just Cause 3 you take the role of mercenary trying to liberate a people from a dictator, by yourself. Think of an 80s action flick where you're the star and you take down an entire country alone, for the most part. Rebels will help you with supply drops but all the dirty work falls on you, and that's where the game is at its best. Entering an enemy territory and taking control is the most fun and challenging part of JC3, you need to destroy infrastructure and propaganda, over throw the local police station and disable monitoring systems all while fighting off reenforcements from tanks and helicopters.
The games story and missions leave a lot to be desired, anytime I was making my way through the story Id get bored and wish that I was just blowing something up. Not terrible but not as good as playing around in the open world.
Overall if you enjoy open world games you're not going to find another game that does it better, just don't expect much from the story and you'll have a blast!

I have played plenty of games in my days and this game has some basic pros and cons.
PROS:
Beautiful graphics. It is like I am in a movie where I am in control. Especially the water. Crystal clear, seems as if I am really swimming throughout the deep blue sea. Acres of grass, city scape is breath taking. I literally will just walk around and tour the open world just to enjoy the life like visuals of this game.
Physics of the game are spot on being realistic.
Grappling hook can be fun to play with. Attach the hook to two cars that are apart and use the magnetic reel to pull them into an explosion of awesomeness!
Wing suit and parachute give you great heights and help you explore during game play. These are upgrade-able as well as your retractable hook shot.
Explosions are everywhere! Create mayhem against the enemy as you blow up s*** with rocket launcher, grenades, oh my! Freakin awesome!
Cons:
Alright, once again the load times are horrible. If you die or are going into a mission or challenge, prepare to take a bathroom break or video game unrelated as you wait. This is 2016. Can we please establish a way to prevent load times being this long?
Game play is repetitive and can become dull. Shoot, shoot, fly, fly, chute, chute, boom, boom. You get the picture. Story is not that interesting. I don't really care much about the characters involved in the story. There is really no emotional grasp for the player to actually latch on to anything.
I would recommend it.....for now.

I played Just Cause 2 extensively on the PS3 and was excited to try the third installment on next gen. Just Cause 3 is amazingly fun. The new wingsuit is a joy to fly around all of Medici. Speaking of Medici, the map is huge. There are so many places to visit and secret collectibles scattered around.
The story is nothing new or groundbreaking. Same old dictator. Same old Rico. That's not to say it's nonexistent, but just not great. I will say the opening to the game was cool, just like an action movie. But after the first couple missions you unlock mostly everything you need, so you can just free roam from there.
My biggest issue with this game and what holds it back from being 5 stars: the frame rate. It's perfectly fine and smooth just flying or driving around, but as soon as you blowup something large and enemies start swarming in, wow does it drop. It's still not unplayable, but it does make things like aiming and grappling difficult. I know the PC version doesn't struggle as much because there's more power, but I think the amount of times the frame rate dropped is almost unacceptable.
Pros: strong open world gameplay; large number of vehicles to drive / fly; grappling mechanics
Cons: frame rate drop issues; story is nothing new
Despite the frame rate issues, I have had more fun in this game than I have had in a long time. Just Cause 3 is (almost) the perfect open world action game.

So much to do in such an enormous world. This may be one of the largest worlds I've ever experienced on a gaming console. There is a lot of fun and explosions to be had, and the uniqueness and ability to attack situations in dozens of different ways makes every encounter as unique as you'd want.
The only downside is that, with this enormous world, it often feels like everything (including story missions) is just a small, short side mission that takes a back seat to the ability to just free roam. It would be great if the storyline received more love.

Just Cause 3 vs Just Cause 2
The collectables in two were overkill, but it had a sense of progression, and honestly you only needed to collect what you needed. (and only had to be obsessive about getting them for platinum)
I liked the tongue in cheekiness of JC2, I miss old Rico and Tom (voice and characterization), Rico acts as if Tom is someone he barely knows (wth) and I'm not feeling Mario too much he seems annoying.
I liked the more diverse areas as you traveled Panau, sure I haven't explored everything in Medici yet, but so far I'm a bit disappointed.
I hate some of Rico's new moves, do I really need to do a backflip going into the parachute, you don't know how much i hate when he launches himself 100ft into the air when all I wanted to do was get slightly airborne and then grapple back down.
Weapon Zoom....seriously I HAVE to unlock it, who the **** came up with that stupid idea.
Chaos > Challenges for unlocks... 'nuff said.
Rico's look, I want Scorpio in black leather, not haggard lumberjack Rico in blue Denim, heck he still looked better in JC1.
Helicopters and motorcycles are way too finicky in this game. I don't feel like I have great control over them unlike JC2.
JC2 had better music, I enjoyed paragliding around Panau and getting to hear Flamenco guitar, here I'll be darned if I remember much of the music so far.
Lastly and BIGGEST gripe....no CUSTOMIZED controls....SERIOUSLY. It's 2015 (for one more day anyway).
When attacking major bases they have certain conditions that can only be stopped while moving the story forward, some of these conditions are stupid and make the explore at your own pace of the game feel like it's telling you "No, you're not supposed to be here", even in JC2 you could visit the everywhere and not be penalized for it, shame it isn't the same in JC3.
Overall it's a nice sequel, but it drops the ball in a lot of things that JC2 did right and even worse had as standard options right out of the gate.
After playing it over for over 30 hours so far, I stand by what I wrote, it's a fun game, but sadly Avalanche Studios didn't elevate it to the level it could have been from JC1 to JC2, a fun game, but after awhile you'll be like is that it?

Beautiful open world with action around every corner. Fairly good story, but the game really shines when you make it your own adventure. There is nothing quite like attaching rockets to a cow and launching them over the moon. Some aspects of the games story do get a bit repetitive as the game progresses . However this provides you with the opportunity to try using new abilities and equipment out in new ways.

An open world game with beautiful graphics but not much in the way of challenge. Initially the game was plagued with very long loading screens which were later fixed with a patch. The game plays easily and if you die you respawn close to where you were with all the progress made still intact causing it to get boring quick due to an uninteresting and predictable story.

The premise is to blow things up in this game... And that's about it. If you just want to play a game where the story is not that important to you and you just want gameplay , then check this game out. The load times are a bit slow (even after the patches) but I've experienced worse in other games. The graphics are beautiful, so there is plenty to look at while ignoring the story to blow stuff up.

We haven't played this numerous hours yet, but the action, graphics, and sound are good so far. The game had an update shortly after we purchased that I read was supposed to fix earlier performance issues. Seems like it is doing well so far. This is an open world game with destruction at the heart. Good for not too serious fun.

Very enjoyable game, it was fun, huge open world map and what I thought was an in depth story. It can be a little repetitive as you get closer to the end but with all the vehicles and weapons you should be able to make the liberations different each time and experiment with different approaches to change it up.

Got it Day 1 and aside from some frame rate drops and a couple crashes when I lit up a gas station and a couple dozen semi trucks, it has been a blast. The story kinda fizzles out towards the end, BUT you're not exactly buying this for the story as much as the wanton destruction.

Just cause 3 offers you a large open world to explore with many vehicles to use, but I always found it more fun to use the grapple hook, parachute or wing suit to explore the world. With a large amount of destruction in the game. it offers a very exciting experience.
