Nice sounding car radio

The car stereo is excellent for my older car (I wanted it in the glove box, a small space) so not to be seen because I wanted to keep the original 1964 radio to make my car look stock from the factory. It sounds great when paired up with good speakers, but I wish the controls were easier to set. (or maybe have a tutorial video on line some where to watch?) and could use a small remote because it seems difficult finding the controls on my cell phone (I have not yet found it to set up,) Otherwise it is great.
BTW Jack at the Lake Forest Best Buy put in the stereo and did a great above and beyond the call of duty job on connecting up and putting in the stereo. He does excellent work on all the cars I saw him doing there. I give Jack a 5 star rating for service and friendliness.

Excellent radio for my 2004 Grand Marquis!

My 2004 Grand Marquis badly needed an update in the radio department so I went with this model. Originally (the GM is a double din) I was going to have a larger radio installed but since you have to modify the dash for most of those radios a single din was called for. This fit the bill.
I haven't had an opportunity to use the USB or AUX portion but the radio pairs well on Bluetooth. It takes about 35 seconds on average from the time you turn on the radio to the time it pairs with my iPhone 8 plus. The bonus is that it will (for the most part) start playing the last station I played on TuneIn or the last song I used with Amazon Music. Occasionally it might forget to pair on bluetooth music mode but I generally turn it to the iPhone setting and it pairs fine. An odd but only occasional quirk that I can live with.
I haven't used Pandora but my son uses Spotify and has had no issues using that. The color rotation as it cycles from one color to another is pretty cool too. Call quality, both transmitting and receiving, is excellent and I have no issues there. I can be perfectly understood even if I'm surrounded by 18 wheelers on a busy city highway as has happened.
About the only things I can ding the radio for...and not much...is that the buttons are small and I have to sometimes double check the 'hangup' button on the radio although I can end the call on my phone as well. Hands free works well, though - I've used Siri to dial phone numbers, etc. I wish I could tune a particular station manually but I might not have found that feature. That being said, the HD FM feature is pretty awesome although I mainly use online music. Switching between Sirius, bluetooth music, pandora is a hassle although you can use the iPod key to shortcut your way to the end of the list.
All in all its a great radio. Yes, it doesn't have a CD player but I haven't used CD's in years, so...not a loss. I recommend this radio particularly with the free installation BB offers.

Primarily picked this for the red backlight to match the controls on my M3 and the front mounted USB port. Simple to install and sounds great with the factory speakers. Easy to plug in your mobile phone and listen to Sirius XM radio with the phone app.

Hey, Best Buy. 2 weeks isn't long enough to test this unit before deciding to return/keep it. Here's what I learned by the time it was too late:
Pros...
+#1 reason for purchase: HD2 can be a preset. (My AM news comes in clear on HD2 on the FM dial, but my old unit wouldn't "save" the HD2 station as a preset; I'd have to save the FM (country music), then click "up" to get my news.)
+BT Phone call is good.
+Plenty of display colors to help match vehicle and/or to choose something that is more readable.
+Kenwood's tech support was willing to help (but they couldn't explain why Pandora via Android BT wouldn't be friendly with USB iPod).
+Apparently I need to give this unit credit for having a dedicated BT Audio button (after looking at the competition).
+Subwoofer level control is easy to access (click knob 3 times). (Good when I need to kill the bass when listening to news.)
Cons...
-Cycling through inputs feels like a roulette. Aside from the dedicated button for BT audio, the main source button cycles through: Satellite/Radio/Front USB/Rear USB/Rear App(s)/AUX/BT Audio/Standby. Just keep pressing until you get to the right one. Miss it? Spin again!
-Tiny buttons are a joke, but we're not laughing. I mean, who makes a track-skip button that looks like a preset button? Preset 1 is difficult to find, so my favorite station now goes at the end (preset 6) where it's easy to find.
-Why bother with a second line if the display is so small? That's where the clock resides. Can you see it? Seriously, look at the image; zoom in if you can.
-Wish the Kenwood app worked better.
-Can't figure out best sound for each source, especially with the unit's menu/user interface. (I'm biased because my previous unit had something called Auto-SRS which magically made the stock door speakers 5x better.)
-No dimmer wire? Oh, dimmer button on the unit, but it's not automatic.
-Can't lock the faceplate? That's just more moving parts that may go faulty (or stolen).
-Exiting menu is cumbersome since the "back" button doubles as the "search" button. Well, I could simply hold the button for 3 seconds, but that's too long if I urgently need to change the volume.
I should've taken out a loan and purchased a double-DIN unit for twice this amount. But, I'm frugal and stuck with it. 2 weeks? D'oh!

Very happy with this receiver. It has great features and intuitive to use. I mated it with a Kenwood elec xover, several amps, full range and component speakers and the system sounds fantastic. I wanted HD and a rear USB which this unit has.
It's shorter depth is great to allow for cleaner install leaving plenty of room for excess connections and wires behind (that said, if you have any "fixed" length wires you plan to re-use, consider the depth of this unit. i.e. if you have a "fixed" length antenna cable, confirm the cable will reach the connection point on this shorter unit).

Purchased this for my daughter so that she could make and receive calls hand free. Works perfectly but very difficult to figure out setting for normal stuff like, bass. balance, treble, etc...
No CD player but she could care less about that. It works well for phone reception, clarity, and that is why we purchased it so I recommend this for that purpose.

Stereo switching from Blue Tooth to AM radio station randomly. Impossible to control. Station arrow buttons extremely small, hard to see. No remote control, no case for detachable piece. Some people reported trouble with Pioneer App for phone as remote control. It drains phone battery. Not happy with this product.

I didn’t even realize it was an HD stereo. It picks up all kinds of stations I could never get with my factory radio. It was easy to install and has a great sound. Easy to figure out all the options that come with it. Love the fact it has two seperate USB ports. Highly recommend this stereo.
