Customers are saying

Customers admire Kingdom Hearts III's smooth gameplay, engaging story, and visually appealing worlds. Many found the game fun and a good value for the price, also praising the music. However, some players felt the difficulty could be increased, and a few criticized the voice acting and the length of the cutscenes. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and story outweighs the negative comments on other aspects.

...and a bunch of other stuff like friendship, love, hitting bad guys with a sword-sized key happened. Stop with this nonsense that "if you didn't play the earlier games you cant play this one" junk folks are saying. This game has a section from the main menu where you can watch a summary set of videos explaining the entire story so far. Done. Ignore anybody trying to tell you this game is hard to jump in to if you didn't play previous games. Obviously this is the best looking and best playing Kingdom Hearts. Its a fun story just for the environments and characters even if you do have no clue whats going on. That's why map objectives exist. More people than you think watch movies and video games and have no idea what they are doing the entire time. It's ok. Everybody enjoys stuff differently. If you played the old ones, buy this. If you are new and like Disney stuffs, buy this. If you like video games and are not hard locked to ultra violent bloody content, buy this.

I'll be completely honest. I'm new to the series and don't know the story. I purchased this for the Disney Worlds and combat. I am not disappointed and it's well worth it for that reason. The combat is fun, the Disney worlds are fantastic and enjoyable cut scenes make it seem like you're watching a Disney movie as you tag alongside Goofy and Donald. It's great seeing all of these characters interact with each other. The RPG elements were also surprising to me. Equipping keyblades, equipment, magic, potions etc. on your journey was a big plus. I've read the main story is complicated and convoluted, but not knowing the story didn't hurt my experience. I really didn't know what I was buying and it's a must purchase if you're a Disney fan.

As a KH fan, this is one of the greats. It ties most of the loose ends left behind over the past 17 years of build-up. As a series with so many parts I find its conclusion on par with The Deathly Hallows and Infinity War when needing to go so much right. The game runs well and the Disney worlds are fully realized and larger and more complex than any other entry in the series. Combat is hack and slash RPG action which plays well but at this point needs some new vision as the series continues in the future. HOWEVER... If you are new to this series you'll have fun but really will miss out on what makes this storytelling so great. Its long-winded, complex, confusing and sometimes downright misleading which can be a frustration to many. If you want to get on the train now do yourself a favor and watch some youtube recaps which cover years of this series story the most efficiently. I would recommend playing at least KH1, KH2, Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance to get the bigger beats out of the story if you had to pick some to play.

Pretty sweet production values, but the plot is basically inscrutable unless you've played all the games + spinoffs. Fun, charming Disney worlds but janky combat-- people who are familiar with KH and already like the combat, that's great. But compared to other games, I think it lacks the precision that would make it more satisfying to plow through hundreds of Heartless. Anyway, it's still "good" but it could've been amazing!

    Too much button mashing

Finally after almost a decade KH3 is out. The game is heavy cut scenes and heavy battles of CONSTANT button mashing. This was the biggest turn off in the game. Also the story (as with other KH games) is INCREDIBLY stupid. I guess personally just glad we finally got this game but unless you are a fan of the series this ISNT the way to be introduced into the franchise as you will be lost with all the characters.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is a great game. The story might be confusing, but it is also one of the series' greatest strengths. Just because it's confusing, doesn't mean people can't follow it and while people often complaint about how the story is so convoluted, it's not really convoluted, it's just a lot to remember. With some effort the story is actually pretty straightforward. In KH3, most plot points from previous games are resolved in satisfactory way. The game also remember to give fans the room to theorize since KH3 is not only the end but also the beginning of the future KH story. Graphic and music wise, KH3 is just spectacular. You can see that developers put a lot of effort in replicating the disney film's uniqueness into the game and it also shows that they put so many details into the world's design. The music is awesome as always. It is effective in evoking your emotions in many cutscenes. The battle ost has never been this epic. Overall, KH3 is a great game for fans and for people who are open to changes, because the game made some changes that might disappoint some fans while make other fans happy

Don't get me wrong, Kingdom Hearts III is loads of fun and I'm glad I bought it. But for a game that released nearly a decade and a half after its immediate numerical predecessor, I couldn't help but feel it lacked a number of things that made the series special. For one, there are no Final Fantasy characters (save for moogles and the occasional statue). I also missed the forms from Kingdom Hearts II that allowed you to dual wield and cruise around the battlefield. Instead, your keyblade changes forms based on the one you're wielding and many of the new elements (attractions in particular) are all about taking control away from Sora. They look nice, but sometimes all I want to do is whack people with a big key and this detracts from that. But the biggest problem of all is that you are expected to have played all of the spinoff games in order to have some semblance of an understanding about what's going on in the plot. What started as a fun adventure about traveling to various Disney worlds to find your friends has evolved into a convoluted mess about darkness and hearts and Nobodies and time travel and while I understand a person can pick up the complete package on PS4 and get caught up, it's asking a lot to expect the average consumer to invest in a dozen other games before being allowed to understand the plot of a game titled Kingdom Hearts THREE.

Great game but not for beginners to the series

The kingdom hearts series is a creation between Disney and Square Enix and the game is all about traveling the different Disney world as the protag Sora with donald and Goofy side by side fighting heartless, nobodys, and unverse. If your a long time fan then you will enjoy the game because it makes great use of the more powerful hardware with High definition graphics, Larger spaces in these worlds and if you're on a PS4 pro or XB one X then smooth frame rates. if you are new to the series and this is your first KH game the prepare to be lost because the story spans over 10 games and this just continues off of the last game KH dream drop distance, but you can get "KH the story so far" to get the whole series. As a fan im a bit disappointed in the game because this game had alot of building from the past games but story wise this game is lacking and feels more of a Disney advertisement with the way they handle some of the works and felt like it was more Disney then Square since its missing its final fantasy characters. As a regular gamer, its a fun game that can have many hours of fun to it but not for beginners if you wanna have some understanding of the story.

I was a little sad at first, knowing most of the worlds in KH3 were going to be focused on Pixar films. I'm a sucker for the older movies and I knew the change would be pretty drastic. After playing the game. I am -so glad- they partnered with Pixar. Not only were the graphics top notch, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Pixar themed worlds more than I could have ever imagined. KH3 delivered the emotions I felt playing KH1 and KH2, I am not at all disappointed, in fact, I'm left craving more content. I can't wait for future content involving the Kingdom Hearts series. 10/10 from someone who has been a fan from the beginning.

I've been a fan of this franchise and I've been highly anticipating this game's release. I sent in my pre-order and got in the day of release. This is a fantastic game. It puts an end to the Xehanort saga and delivers. The graphics are phenomenal. The gameplay is nostalgic while also incorporating new features. I wish it delivered on the story a little bit more in the individual Disney worlds but lets be honest, if you're a fan than you just wanted closure to the main story. I really hope this game has DLC's in the future as it definitely opens itself to that opportunity. You won't regret getting this game.

The story can be a bit odd especially if you haven't played the prior games(I haven't gotten around to playing the story so far bundle yet). Its pretty fun but to get to certain things without programming shortcuts the interface becomes quiet cluttered for real time battles. its does not pause when going through item lists the way final fantasy XV does, despite not having online gameplay or multiplayer. The story feels like it had several parts cut out. Hopefully the up coming DLCS will help fill in some of the gaps. If you have the patience you might want to wait for a final cut type version rather than picking up any paid dlc that comes along. It was fun but the story breaks up into a lot of sections and at the end of the design process they changed parts of the ending or left them out due to time and budget constraints. They already spent more than 10 years between releasing kingdom hearts 2 and kingdom hearts 3 and it suffered several time table changes on the release, similar to what happend to FFXV/Final Fantasy XIII Versus

You. Donald Duck and Goofy. Fighting with Mickey Mouse and a whole plethora of C-tier Disney movie heroes (Baymax??) to save the world from Darkness. Pretty darn cool. Gameplay remains similar to the first two games, but with a lot more verve and panache. Tons of opportunities for flourishes and crazy breakdance moves, really makes the battle system stand out. The storyline has become even more incomprehensibly stupid and incoherent, now jamming in what feels like 10 or 15 games worth of information into one single title. The constant exposition tries to explain what happened in the other video games in the series, but if you didn't play some rare Gameboy Advance or PSP title from ten years ago, you will be confused and there's no avoiding it. Darkness indeed. Ultimately that all pales in comparison to running around in a bunch of Disney universes fighting the bad guys with magic swords that look like keys. Highly recommended, especially if you're a child who doesn't really care about writing or cohesive storylines. Lots of fun!

If you are a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series you are inevitably going to buy this game regardless of what I tell you, but really all you need to know is that it was worth the wait. There are so many new mechanics introduced in the combat that while are helpful don't feel forced at all so if you were really inclined you could realistically play this more or less like old school Kingdom Hearts 1. So far the story is pretty great too and they include a catch up menu so players who have not played any of the past entries can have at least a small idea of what is going on. My only real complaint is that the game tends to be a little on the easy side since it isn't difficult to end up overleveled so my advice is to only play this game on proud mode to ensure you are challenged throughout the adventure. All in all this is a must have for fans of the series.

A Finale That Was Worth The Wait

Before playing KH3, I had to watch a few videos to recap the story of KH 1, 2, and all the other side games. Because the game took a while to come out, it feels like there was a lot to catch up on. However, when you play KH3, it seems like the story picks up immediately where it left off. The benefits are that you can see how amazing the graphics are. The game play has the same fighting style but with a lot more summons and abilities. The combination of fighting styles definitely add another layer of replayability to the game until you find the one you want to stick with or keep trying to see which ones are the most fun. The Disney characters you encounter in KH3 are a nice pick although some of their stories are very similar to their actual movies which may bother some players seeking new adventures. Overall, the game is a nice ending to the saga.

I have been in love with KH since the beginning! This game is not perfect there are errors and annoying talks but overall it's the beauty and the game play, story (still doesn't make sense lol). I love this game just for the worlds mainly it does seem a lot easier than the other games some bosses were hard but after maybe 3-4 tries, I won. The other games made me so angry and I quit playing because I couldn't beat a certain boss this one not so much and it seems shorter to me. The gummi ship feels like a true ship in this game you can really fly it to get to the other worlds. I do like flying around and being able to choose to fight or not too. I wish they didn't talk when you walked pass every ingredient, emblem. Sometimes they do get in the way but I love the graphics. I would still play this in the future once I completed the game.
